So…Tuca and Bertie’s been cancelled again. I was wondering what would arise with all the controversy. I am a bit sad, I definitely wish there’ll be more seasons.
But, if this is the end of the show, I will never forget it. I won’t forget how it helped me pursue getting another therapist, or how Tuca’s relationship with Kara showed me how toxic my relationship with my ex was. How it helped me with processing the end of said relationship and moving on. It’s a wonderful little show that has its flaws, sure. But it’s one of my favorite comfort shows. Ever.
Sorry for the stupid little sappy post, I just thought I would share my thoughts in case the show is cancelled for good. Who knows, this may be outdated in a few months, or maybe not. *shrugs*
A couple of ideas for tattoos, the first idea is from the series Supernatural, the second is from Legend of Zelda, the third idea is from the series Tuca and Birdie, showing one of funny looking cupcakes, fourth is from my highschool dnd club where players, including myself, put out character chips in certain order on accident that created "el gay", and final five ideas are quotes from Bojack horseman show that I loved and I think the "each scar tells a story, and every story leaves a scar" would be a good tattoo for trans people who had their top surgery done.
Tuca & Bertie is the sort of adult cartoon that feels like it’s like other cartoons… except it’s better. I can make a whole list but I’ll just note here that it’s got that Bro feel minus misogyny and their Adult content isn’t raunchy.
I say that having watched BoJack Horseman. The difference is that BoJack is about mental health and cultural critique whereas Tuca & Bertie is about friendship and adulting. The former is cynical, the latter is indulgent. Both have merit. I just want more indulgence.
I will be as obnoxious as I need to be in order for more people to try this show because it’s so diverse and brilliantly written. We need more adult cartoons like Tuca & Bertie.

I didn’t realize this post would take off, and I’m not even sure how many of you will even see this. I want to address the fact that I wrote this post before watching the last three episodes. Those get much darker because they involve more direct topics of sexual harassment/assault. HOWEVER, by the end of it all, there’s still a feeling of hope and triumph in the face of trauma. No matter how dark Tuca & Bertie gets, it’s still far more optimistic and feel-good than Bojack, which covers similar problems with a much bleaker tone.

Spoilers below but honestly the last episode felt super weird??? But yeah below the cut!
So like, the whole season has a lot of good points about how both their lives are hard and I actually FUCKING LOVED episode 9 because that shit was great but when it got to the finale it was suddenly all HOLIDAY THEMED. Like, I dunno felt out of nowhere and the progression of time wasn’t really there?
But that’s not my main issue, for the first half of the episode it’s REALLY GOOD, the issues that Tuca and Bertie are going through, mainly Bertie with both Speckle and the bakery guy blacklisting her are super interesting especially with the shows theme of being a woman [mostly on the bakery part, Speckle at first seemed overblown but I kinda felt for how he lashed out, but still]. It felt like a really good depiction of a powerful man using said power to put down someone because he can.
But like, soon into the ending suddenly EVERYTHING is going right? And I’m not saying they deserve it because yeah they deserve a happy ending but the fact its suddenly PERFECT? Like, it felt like it happened in 4 minutes. Suddenly Tuca and Bertie are doing Berties whole bakery thing and getting it out there?? I mean the fact they out the bakery guy for being an asshole was good and that felt real but RIGHT AFTER suddenly its just “Oh yeah shit the episode is ending soon uh... LETS JUST HAVE IT ALL GO SUPER WELL RIGHT NOW!!!”
It just felt weird? It didn’t kill the show for me or make me not wanna rewatch it but it was super weird ending wise.
I dunno still good show watch it.
