My Ranking of The Encanto Soundtrack(From Most to Least Favorite)
*The Encanto soundtrack is great and there is no song I dislike*
Here is my ranking:
1. We Don’t Talk About Bruno
I know it’s a pretty basic favorite but I don’t care. I love the music and the different singing styles. Plus, it introduced me to the movie. I heard about how popular this song and I listened to the audio and got hooked. My favorite parts are Dolores and Camilo’s, they are unique and great.
2. Surface Pressure
As someone who has anxiety issues and feels constant pressure, this song really resonated with me. The lyrics were also really, and I got sort of emotional near the end. Jessica Darrow does a great job singing this song.
3. Waiting on a Miracle
I also struggle with feeling out of place in my family so Waiting on a Miracle hit me hard in the feels. I don’t have a lot to say other than I relate to the lyrics and the desperation in Mirabel’s voice to make her family proud.
4. Colombia, Mi Encanto
This song gives me such nostalgia on the good times I had with my grandmother when I was little. And the beat is just so infectious.
5. What Else Can I Do?
Now we are at part of the list where I don’t particularly love the songs.
I don’t know why but I don’t feel much for this song even though it is well produced and the lyrics are good. Maybe it’s because I don’t like Isabella that much. She was a good character but I had trouble connecting with her troubles, especially when the way she was handling it was being mean towards Mirabel. I think I would’ve been more forgiving towards her if a reason for her anger towards Mirabel was addressed and that Isabella’s development was not so rushed.
6. The Family Madrigal
Weirdly enough, I’m not in love with the musical numbers that don’t focus on a specific character. I guess with We Don’t Talk About Bruno is like an ensemble song but the main focus was Bruno. The Family Madrigal is a great song for introducing all the characters in a fun way though I wouldn’t listen to it as much.
7. Dos Oruguitas
I’m not a Spanish speaker so it’s hard for me to connect with this song since it’s all in Spanish. Though, it fits perfectly with the corresponding scene, and I got pretty emotional the first time I saw the scene.
8. All of You
Like The Family Madrigal, I didn’t love All of You because it was an ensemble song. There were some parts are enjoyed like Bruno’s little rap and the small cute moments between the family. Mirabel finally getting a door was so sweet though.
Overall, this is a really cute ending song!
Comment your ranking and your thoughts on mine. 😁

Ok, so, first of all. Happy early birthday, Phil ( @amazingphil )!! I know in some cultures it’s bad luck, but not in mine, so don’t worry, you are covered. So, the reason I’m not posting this in your actual birthday is because I won’t have WiFi or data, and I haven’t found a way to mentally send pictures yet. I made this mini painting some time ago, and I wanted to share it with you as a way of celebrating. (I know it’s not the best but I tried). Hope you like it and have an awesome birthday —you deserve it, tbh. (I also hope you find this picture someday, but if not, I still wish you a happy birthday) Ps: Hamilton is great, isn’t it?

I wanna feel the shiver of something new I'm so sick of pretty, I want something true, don't you?
Me : :(
* listens to the entire soundtrack of encanto a thousand times *
Me : :)
What else can I do, but only when Isabela's off screen
Aka What else can I do but it's just Mirabel freaking out 95% of time
And, to finish with the cold sisters. Ukranian version of what else can I do?
What will I do?
You appeared here so suddenly
This baby is a sharp treasure.
(Isa, I think I and you...)
Although there's no visible symmetry.
But it's cute. And it's mine!
So what will I do?
(Wait! Come here, come here! So! Come here, come here!)
So what will I do?
Sprinkling primrose, violets
Spreading the strands of flowers
If only people knew that since my childhood
A light smile was hiding
What will I do if drawing fills the reality?
Let them come to life?
What will I do if I love what isn't perfect?
But amazing what it is, because it's mine!
My blooming jacaranda, and a hurricane of lianes!
The aroma of Palma de Sera drives me affected and I'm flying
Now I can't escape...
In a moment I will grow a garden of flytraps in here
Predatory, okay that's enough, (to Mira) step into an island
I want to feel something except flowers
Am I really gonna take an unexpected step?
(You lived here in the world of the dreams
But those dreams weren't yours)
This root is so strong
(You have scattered flowers for everyone
Until you got control only they grew
You will fly to the sky once, fly like an eagle)
My blooming jacaranda, and a hurricane of lianes!
The aroma of Palma de Sera drives me affected and I'm flying
(And what? And what?)
What will you do if you want to create improbable?
Something fairy-lilac?
And what will you do if you can't be exemplary?
Misbehaving like a bird
(Hey, sweet people, free the way!)
Bloomed tabebuia, get your colours done full!
I will cover everything with a crazy colour for you today
And what will I do?
(Something that surprises the people)
And what will I do?
(I love this too!)
What will I do?
You know what I love in Encanto songs? Between cold sisters' personal songs, WECID is the only one which doesn't end in regressing back.
What do I mean. In WOAM Mirabel demands her chance, saying that she is ready to prove herself to the family. But she eventually slips back, feeling that she would never get this chance. And in SP Luisa asks and dreams about being free from expectations and getting some time to relax. Just to pull back onto her protectiveness and toughness, saying that she doesn't break.
WECID ends on a much more optimistic note. And it's the one song which was sang in duo as opposite of Mirabel and Luisa's respective solos. Proofs how important family support actually is! And at the same time we can see Isabela being self-conclusious too, before Mirabel assures her that it's okay. And it implies that if WECID was solo too, Isabela would finish by feeling she can't do what she wants. Of course it still happens, but at least it comes from outside sourse (Abuela) rather than Isabela's own feeling.
Because it's Ukranian flag day (And Independence day is stepping on) Here's some of my favourite lyrics for songs in Ukranian version of Encanto
The family Madrigal
У праці задля інших не згасне полум'я дива — In work for other the flame of the miracle won't slake
(But work and dedication will keep the miracle burning)
I wasn't entirely sure which pyrics could fit, as the meating is relatively simular to the original song. At it's more of introduction to the movie. Tho I like Alma saying that miracle won't fade BECAUSE they work for the community. Tho she still does in English version so
Уваги вартує кожен Мадриґал — Every Madrigal deserves attention
(So, just to review the family Madrigal)
Again, this one just seemed funny to me. Mirabel be like: Every Madrigal deserves attention *proceeds to ignore herself*
Waiting on a miracle
Я немов те зерно, що не зросло, де все зацвіло — I'm like that one that one seed that hasn't sprouted where everything blooms.
(Like I’m still at that door longing to shine like all of you shine)
I LOVE this analogy. It just fits so great to Mirabel's character. It's probably my favourite lyric line at all. (Also WOAM is my favourite in Ukranian soundtrack like it sounds amazing)
Surface pressure
Тут проблем на сімох — Here's problems for seven people
(till it's ready to blow)
Surface pressure, of course, has a whole lot of amazing metaphors. But I mean I can't write everything. I like this line just for the fact that it's saying how Luisa works way more normal human capability.
Хто я є, якщо десь ради не дам? Тож я ваш рятувальний дар! Опора! — Who am I if I won't give myself somewhere? So I'm your saving gift! Support!
(Who am I if I don't have what it takes? No cracks, no breaks, no mistakes! No pressure)
Not sure if adding last lines is fair, I mean it's supposed to be a strong moment. But in Ukranian, calling somebody Support (or maybe it's better translated as beam) has the same meaning as call them Rock of the family. Which is a nice allegory to Luisa's role in the family. Also "Who am I if I won't give myself somewhere?" is a great way to summarize Luisa's overworking
We don't talk about bruno
Ми цвіли в той день, з тих пір ніде — We bloomed that day, and since then nowhere
(What a joyous day, but anyway )
Nothing to say, we just love these two
Чуєш ти чи ні? — Do you hear or not?
(Do you understand?)
Again, it just sounds great simply because of Dolores' powers, as well as the fact that she's quiet and tends to be unheard.
What else can I do?
Жила десь у просторі мрій, tа ці мрії чужими були... — You lived here in the world of the dreams, but these dreams weren't yours
(You just seem like your life's been a dream since the moment you opened your eyes)
Another extremely strong line! Just the fact that Mirabel admits Isabela lived in a world of Abuela's dream rather than being who she wants. It sounds so amazing and oretty much summarize Isabela's character before WECID how she was forced to be somebody else
All of you
А сила це не все - необхідний досвід,
Як і відвага зробити дослід! — And strenght isn't everything, you need experience - As well as a courage for experiment
(I may not be as strong, but I’m getting wiser. Yeah, I need sunlight and fertilizer)
Same with SF, this song has a lot of allegory which is great. But I'm very biased for the cold sisters/j
Лише себе у сім'ї — Only myself with the family
(I see me, all of me)
Again, the last line in the movie (aside from La Famillia Madrigal!) So it's pretty cheating. But Mirabel says that she not just sees herself, but herself as a part of the family is so sweet like cmon
