The sky seems gloomy. Who would’ve thought that something as colourless as water could make clouds so dark? Soon, it will turn into an endless orchestra of droplets hitting window panes, rooftops and tree-leaves; just like an old radio coming back to life.
You held out your hand as the rain got heavier. After realising that the storm would not stop anytime soon, a sigh escaped your lips. With no other option but to wait for the rain to stop in the comfort of the treasure hoarders’ camp you had just came across, you sat still. The rain had put out the camp fire they had and without any source of fire, you started to feel cold.
Out of all days, why did you choose to go out collecting sweet flowers today? As you watched the raindrops fall, you wondered if you should just make a run for it. After all, night was falling and the treasure hoarders could be back anytime. Being in the cold state you were in, you wouldn’t have enough strength to fend them off.
You started to doze off, you had thought that you would be alone but not long after, you heard the footsteps and complaints of a certain ginger-haired male. “Finally! Somewhere where I can rest and wait oh—?”
You looked at the black boots and then upwards where you came face to face with him. Childe, Tartaglia.
“Childe?” With widened eyes, you looked at the young harbinger in surprise. What business would he have here in Mt Tianheng? “What are you doing here?”
You questioned, as he took a seat on the ground next to you. “I could ask you the same thing, Y/N.” he says. “Well...I suppose that I got bored while trying to seek out the traveler so I decided to go around killing enemies until it started to rain. What about you?”
You hesitated slightly. You knew about the Fatui and how they did things, thanks to your parents constant lectures after finding out that you’ve been hanging out with one of their harbingers. But this was Childe, a man you trusted and loved. You told him what had happened.
“Hahaha! Looks like we both have some great luck. Hmm, looks like we have no choice but to wait this rain out.”
Nodding, you brought your legs to your chest. It had been quite some time after your last meeting with Childe as your parents did not let you wander out of the house alone for weeks after finding out your friendship with him. The both of you talked and talked about what has been going on that neither of you noticed that it had turned night, it was still pouring though. You wanted to tell the harbinger how much you missed him but when you were about to, you were interrupted.
“Hey! Who are you people and why are you in our camp?” It was the treasure hoarders who had returned for the night. Instinctively, you and Childe stood up.
“We mean no harm! We just wanted to stay safe from—” you spoke, but they did not let you. Instead, one of them attempted to hit you only to find himself on the wet, muddy ground.
“Don’t worry, princess. Just stay still and let your knight in shining armour protect you.”

dainsleif

every year on a special day, the princess of khaenri’ah would hold a grand ball to celebrate the founding of the nation and all of its people would attend despite knowing that the gods may decide to launch an attack. this year, everything went as planned. the princess announced the ball, and your childhood friend dainsleif asked you out to the ball. you had adored him ever since you could comprehend emotions and the joy you felt when he asked you out was immaculate. alas, that joy was only short-lived.
time was up. this was the wrath of the gods. khaenri’ah was disappearing, getting crumbled to nothing but ashes. the day of divine judgement had finally come. you could only hold your breath as you watched everything get reduced to soot. why did it have to be this year when everything finally started to look good for you? why couldn’t it be last year, or the next? you didn’t know, no one knew.
people were screaming and crying, embracing each other for the last time, running away from the falling ceiling. bodies were everywhere, and yet among the chaos that unveiled around you, a familiar yet endearing voice got your attention. you turned around as his soft, warm hands clasped around your cold, clammy ones.
“y/n, why are you still here? didn’t I tell you to seek shelter?”
“dainsleif…w-where is the princess? Is she safe?” you called out. he had returned. as soon as the sound of the first explosion resonated in your ears, dainsleif had left you to check on her highness’s safety, being her twilight Sword.
“i could not find her highness or any trace of her so i assume she had already got to safety… y/n, will you have this last dance with me?”
it caught you off-guard. the weight of his fingertips felt feather-light against yours, asking your hand for the final dance both of you could share. the music was still playing in the background amidst the havoc. you and dainsleif both knew that this would be the final time you could see each other (him being immortal and all). you could see the regret in his eyes but you still swayed to the rumbling as if you hadn’t noticed. he did the same. those dazzling teal orbs never left yours as he elegantly avoided the falling pieces of ceiling and all while waltzing with you.
music you known too well accompanied the bittersweet dance. he smiles, and so do you. when you could no longer delay and run from death, and as the huge piece of quartz that started to crumble off the wall from the sides, the warmth of dainsleif’s breath touched against your ear. feeling something wet staining your shoulder and the pain that was slowly getting worse, you pulled him into the final and warm embrace, soothing his lonely cries. you wiped his tears away and caressed his face.
“i’m sorry. i’m sorry i couldn’t spend more time with you. i’m sorry i couldn’t tell you how i felt sooner. i’m sorry for leaving you alone like this. i love you so much, dainsleif…thank you.”
“i love you too, y/n. i always will.”
oh how he longed to see you after those 500 years. everyday, he never fails sit by your gravestone to tell you what he has been up to. he knows that you are still with him, watching over him in the stars. as he makes his decision to join the abyss order, he looks at your portrait.
“come back..please..”

Lisa is a grand mage, taking her place as Sumeru Academy's greatest graduate in 200 years. She is well known for her beauty, flirtatious and charming attitude, haphazard and carefree personality and intelligence. Being a lady who bears such fine features and qualities, many took a liking to her.
One such person was you. You had known Lisa since you were little kids, but you never had the chance to go to school with her. She taught you everything she learnt the moment she had returned from school and even when she advanced to the academy of Sumeru, Lisa never failed to write you letters documenting what she had been up to.
Ever since you had heard that the great Lisa has returned to Mondstadt to serve as the humble librarian she is, you had taken every opportunity there was to hang out with her. However, those opportunities were rather few as you both had busy lives, but that did not stop the two of you from having tea together and hanging out with one another.
You adored Lisa so much took a liking to her that when you saw posters around the town with the title 'Knights of Favonius recruiting! All roles available!' you immediately signed up for it. After all, your pay would be doubled plus, you could see Lisa almost everyday as the Knights provided all of their staff with dorm rooms.
"Get it together, y/n! You can do this!" you try to convince yourself while pacing up and down the library's entrance. Kaeya leans against a nearby wall while chuckling.
"Go on, we've practiced this many times" the man says while walking up to you and places his hands around your shoulder as you stop in your tracks. By 'practice', Kaeya means getting you to talk to him while he was pretending to be Lisa.
"Kaeya, this is the real Lisa we're talking about here. Not a horrible copy of her."
Kaeya smiles and mutters an 'ouch'. Suddenly, an idea pops up in his mind. He pushes you forward, more towards the door with an evil grin plastered on his face. You ask him what he was trying to do but he keeps silent.
Eventually, you make it to the front of door and Kaeya lifts one hand up to open the other and the other to push you inside. He mutters a quick 'good luck' and 'have fun' before slamming the door shut and holding the handles in place so that you do not get a chance to open the door and escape.
From the looks of it, Lisa heard the loud slam of the door as you turn around to see her going up the stairs and to where you were.
"My my, what was that? It couldn't have been the wind, could it?"
You silently swore that you would end the cavalry captain's life later. You put on a smile and walk further into the library to greet Lisa.
"Lisa!" you call out cheerfully as you run up to Lisa to give her a hug.
"Hello there, y/n darling. What brings you here?" she slides her arms around your waist.
Thanks to Kaeya, you knew that it was Lisa's lunch time so you had prepared a lunchbox for her. You pulled away from the hug and stretched out your hand with the lunchbox wrapped in a pretty cloth. Lisa takes it from your hand with a smile.
"Thank you," She fluffs your hair and walks to her desk. Lisa takes a spoonful of the food you cooked and hums in satisfaction, your eyes sparkle. The two of you chat while she eats and once she finishes the last of her meal, Lisa says something that shocks you.
"You know, y/n, I heard that you signed up for to be a librarian.."
Heat rose to your cheeks, "H-how did you know?"
Lisa chuckles. She leans in dangerously close and you backed up slightly.
It was supposed to be a surprise!
"Bringing me lunch...wasn't the only thing you came here for, am I wrong?" She cooed.
Lisa read you like an open book. She was right. The main reason why you visited her today was because you needed no, wanted her to teach you. You looked to the side with a bright shade of pink dusting your cheeks. You tell her that you wanted her to teach you more about potions and how to me more librarian-like.
Lisa takes you to the bottom floor and makes you sit down while she grabs books about ingredients, different herbs and other potions related things.
"I know, Kaeya told me that you wanted to join me..."
How you wanted to strangle the damned cavalry captain there and then but you held your anger back as you did not want to see an angry Lisa. She places the books on the table and flips one of them open. Lisa then makes her way behind you and starts playing with your hair. She plants a kiss on your cheek,
"I can't wait for you to join the Favonian family and I, pass that test for us alright?"

sakuma rei

“here you are, my dearest, didn’t we agree to meet outside my practice room?” a hand ruffles your hair.
you look up to meet with a pair of crimson red eyes and a smile. smiling back, you placed your book into your bag. the boy takes a seat on the bench next to you. having just finished his idol practice for the upcoming SS competition, rei was exhausted. he leans on your shoulder and closes his eyes while you stroke his black hair in return, a common gesture you've had with him since you were kids.
"ah, sorry i must have forgotten. did something happen today?" you questioned gently while playing with his hair, tucking any lose strands behind his ears when they fell over his face.
rei knew that you had to stay back after classes today to attend a student council briefing and since it was planned to end around the same time as UNDEAD’s practice, he told you to wait for him. how he knew that you had to attend a meeting? you didn't know, you only knew that rei knows everything about the school. you told him that it would be fine walking back to the dormitory building, besides, the other stu-co members would be with you but he insisted.
“mm, i might have pushed us too much today. i must say, i am exhausted...couldn’t really breathe. i might actually die soon.” rei replied with a sigh.
“is it the literal meaning or...?”
“both”
“i thought vampires were immortal? do you need me to take you to a doctor?”
“yes and no, i only need you by my side. i’ll feel better this way.”
“cheesy”
“you know you like it,”
he's not wrong though, you do like it. he remains in that position for a good three minutes before standing up suddenly, shocking you a little. during that time, you thought he had fallen asleep, and everyone knows how tough it is to wake him up once he’s asleep. rei must’ve been really exhausted, since his energy levels were fairly low, despite the sun setting below the horizon, allowing the moon to rise.
"shall we head back?" he offers his hand.
you gladly take up his offer and nodded but before you could take a step forward, rei took off his blazer and draped it over your shoulders.
"how careless.” he whispered into your ears. “honestly, who would wear the summer uniform in the middle of october? indeed, it is not as chilly in the afternoon but everybody knows how cold it gets once the sun sets. what do you suppose would become of me had you gotten a cold? who’s going to help me discipline the kids? who’s going to keep me comp–” ah, rei’s grandpa antics. muttering a couple of sorrys, you smile and thank him.
cute.
“understood, grandpa.” cutting his worry-wart talk, you walk in front of him. rei catches up with you in no time, a smile on his face and ruffles your hair once more.
“good.”
the walk to the dorm buildings from the campus was a little distance away and both of you conversed a lot (as usual), with you sharing your thoughts on the meeting you had earlier and rei talking about how his practice went, occasionally throwing in some more of his lame pick-up lines. although the female dormitory building was further than the male’s one, he insisted that he’d walk you all the way to the female dormitory building gate. you thanked him for walking you back although you would have gotten back earlier if you hadn't met him and returned his blazer.
"good night, princess. see you tomorrow." he bows.
princess, that nickname he gave you years ago..
"good night, rei." you wave and watch him walk into the direction of the male dorms. once you can no longer see his silhouette, you head into the dorm building.

kisaki tetta

loving kisaki tetta was never easy.
kisaki loved tachibana hinata, and you love him. you weren’t quite sure when you fell for him, was it in middle school? high school? you’ve practically known each other since you were kids, and naturally, you became the person he trusted the most. the person he would show his true self to. he told you everything— who his enemies were, his plans, what he liked, and even who he liked. time and time again you saw his tears and shouts.
why hanagaki? what did she see in him? he’s just a wuss, he doesn’t deserve hina, he would say. kisaki knows that he can never win her over and yet he refuses to believe that. it hurts you each time. you want to see him happy. you care too much, you wish too much, you love too much for someone who doesn’t share the same feelings as you. you want him to know how you feel, but you were afraid to tell him because you’re certain that the rejection would tear you apart. you’d rather suffer than have your friendship with him ruined, adding something else to his burdens.
you want nothing more than to have kisaki care about you as much as you do, to hold him in your arms lovingly and do all sorts of cute couple-like things together. it hurts that every small exchange that happens between the two of you are so important to you, but so trivial to him.
somewhere along the way, you told him.
kisaki, i love you. i always had. you tell him you know that he still loves hinata and that you probably will never be able have a relationship with him. in return, he tells you that he had known that you did. he says that he knows how much it killed you whenever he spoke or thought of her around you. he tells you how much he appreciates you.
you wonder how long unrequited love can last, how to find a way out of it, but it hurts to know that kisaki has someone he likes and it hurts even more when you realise that that person could and would never be you.

kirishima natsuya

“do you like anyone?”
you froze and stopped writing. the question was sudden, and the most surprising thing about it was the person who asked you. your gaze remained at the assignment on the table and you blinked a few times, baffled at the male sitting across you.
you couldn’t believe it! the kirishima natsuya, soufukan’s big-shot swim captain and ace swimmer, questioning if you had a crush on anyone. the very same person who said that he did not want any sort of distraction—a relationship, a crush, or anything that could sabotage his swimming.
out of all the teasing, pranks and flirting that happened between the two of you, this one start up was the least you had expected to spill from his mouth. the tranquility of your breathing was the only vague response you could offer, but he remained silent, patiently waiting for you to voice your thoughts.
having known natsuya since elementary school, you found it odd. why now, out of all the time and many years that he could’ve asked you? why wait till this year, this particular moment? however, his attitude today was different from the usual. he had nothing installed for you and neither did he tease you. nao had also been distancing himself from the two of you today. your lips curling into a small smile. taking this golden opportunity, you decided to give him a taste of his own medicine. pointing your pen to him, you break the silence.
“pfft, since when did you take any interest in me, natsuya? besides, aren’t you always talking about ikuya and swimming?” you question as you waved the writing instrument in your hand while processing his inquiry on you as a joke. to emphasise your apprehension to his words, you cringed in disgust but it only took a little to notice the mischievous glint in your eyes.
“y/n, that wasn’t an answer” he deadpanned, “although you are right about the part where i’m always talking about ikuya and swimming….” the browned haired boy slammed both his hands on the table lightly, shocking you. natsuya rarely gets agitated and so instead of feeling guilty or taken aback at his sudden uproar, the smile on your lips only grew wider as you leaned back on your chair.
“don’t go all defensive now, what you asked counts as an interest, natsuya~” looking at his beet red face, you point it out, a layer of jest in your words.
“damn it,” running his fingers through his hair with a sigh “just answer the question.”
as you had predicted, his patience was running thin. however, you felt like teasing him more. it was as if you and natsuya had switched minds today. although you wanted to continue teasing him, you felt bad and decided to let him off the hook. tilting your head to the side and putting a finger to your chin, pretending to be in deep thought. from your peripheral vision, you could see him swallow and chew his lip anxiously. finally, the unspoken mutual feeling between you both was about to be revealed.
“i do…” a flicker of hope crossed natsuya’s line of sight, and your attention was at the right amount to take in this sight. seeing it was enough for your smile to widen. however on how fast the hope in his eyes showed, the faster it faded as soon as your news sinks into him, losing the chance to process what you meant exactly. “and i think that he likes me too.”
