beautiful things grow to a certain height and then they fail and fade off, breathing out memories as they decay.

Is it running in our blood? Is it running in our veins? Is it running in our genes? Is it in our DNA?

Your heart is an hourglass ticking down. The sand is dripping everywhere; you’re standing in a flood. You’re running out of minutes and seconds and losing control of your trembling clock hands. Gardens rot and towers ruin and nothing can be done. There will never be enough hours for all your flowers to grow. Your walls are crumbling and honey,  don’t you know time’s the only thing you can’t stop?

Hourglass Heart - a. davida jane (requested by anonymous: “a poem for being too aware of time passing, of it being wasted or running out”)
