List of buses that lie

1. The UKIP Brexit Campaign bus that claimed £350 million goes to the EU each week and that would be spent on the NHS after Brexit 2. Stagecoach Gold buses that say they are every 10 minutes

Reasons Why Wales Should Get More Recognition and The Reasons it Doesn’t

We provide most of the UK (or, at least most of England)‘s water

Water they got by demanding the right to drown 3 different towns and forcing residents to move out despite protests, at least one of which wasn’t even used until relatively recently (see: Tryweryn)

We provide most of the UK (or, at least most of England)‘s electricity

We don’t get any money for either of these things because England underfunds us and so we have to sell our resources to big companies so what little money our government is given can go to other things, like trying to stop what little language and culture we have left from going extinct

YesWales is a movement for Welsh independence that has been gaining a lot of traction very quickly since it started, but is hardly taken seriously

Part of this is because most of Wales did, in fact, vote Leave and Tory

However, statistics apparently show (I haven’t double checked this though so correct me if I’m wrong) that the majority of voters in Wales who voted these were actually English people who had moved to Wales

I’m inclined to believe this because, from statistical maps, the areas that did vote these are, to my awareness, heavily anglicised, and the more heavily, traditionally Welsh areas (seen mostly around the coast and the very top and bottom of the country) voted Leave and Plaid Cymru (our equivalent of the SNP)

All of our mines (which was our and, for a long time, the UK’s primary source of income) were shut down long before they needed to be to save money, costing thousands of jobs and causing large protests

(There’s an interesting, rather heartwarming story about a crossover between this and LGBT activism if you ignore how horrible it was overall)

Our language is constantly disrespected in a way that no other language is, with it regularly being called pointless and stupid. An opinion which is completely flipped when it comes to poetry, funnily enough

Very similar history to the Native Americans (this applies to all Celts, and we get by a lot better now, obviously, since we’re white and all, but the history is quite similar otherwise)

People regularly forget that we exist and we’re constantly grouped together with England (e.g. statistics always show ‘England and Wales’ and hardly ever the two desperately) despite the fact that we’re not the same country and not the same people, with different laws and everything

Wales and the Welsh Government has been trying to get more freedom from England for years but they just keep turning us down for, as far as I’m aware, no good reason

We’re horrendously underfunded by Westminster (alongside Northern Ireland and Scotland)

You remember the original Brexit argument about all that money we were giving them that we didn’t get back? Yeah, most of that money came back to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

Further proof that England gives little to zero shits about us - getting across Wales, a very small country, takes 3-4 hours. Yet I can get a train from North Wales to London in about 1-2 hours

(Extended point being: our roads and railways are messy and shit because Westminster don’t care about us being able to get around our own country easily, they on care about people being able to get to and from London as easily as possible. I have to take a 4-6 hour trip to get between home and uni because I have to go all the way up and around rather than there being an easy, probably 2 hour straight route)

Our royal line was taken away from us in an extremely brutal and unethical way (involving the murder, kidnapping and brainwashing of children), and the only reason the first born son of the king and queen is the ‘prince of Wales’ is because we protested and said we’d never accept a Prince who’s first language wasn’t Welsh, so the current king cheated and said his son fit that description because he was a baby and couldn’t speak any language yet

Wales is the only place you can find a certain species of fish (I forget the name) that have existed, mostly unevolved since the ice age. They’re found in 2 different lakes where fishing is now illegal, but will likely go extinct thanks to global warming heating up the water faster than they can adapt.

Probably way more than this that I can’t remember off the top of my head, but my point stands: stop treating Wales like shit. We already get enough of that from the people that are in charge of us.

Putin has history books rewritten for schools and universities. Ted Cruz has books banned in schools.

Fathers of an idea who ultimately do not differ in their view of society. Neither of them wants responsible, enlightened, self-determined citizens.

mod

When books are banned or history books are rewritten, the approach is never to protect the citizens but only to preserve the power of individuals.

Wherever they burn books they will also, in the end, burn human beings.

Heinrich Heine

Education is the friend of propaganda. Anyone who can think for themselves and can form an overall picture based on different facts from different sources is unfortunately useless for populist propaganda.

Just ask the British what happened to the oh-so-much money they supposedly had to pay to the EU after they went through with brexit.

Oh, the money didn't exist and the bus with the cool print was just propaganda from the brexit supporters.

mod

Putin Has History Books Rewritten For Schools And Universities. Ted Cruz Has Books Banned In Schools.

However, there was a problem with this fact: it was patently untrue. Technically, the UK paid a gross £19.1bn into the EU budget in 2014, which equates to just over £350m a week. But thanks to Margaret Thatcher's hard-nosed negotiating skills in the 1980s, the country also receives a huge rebate of around £4.9bn, which never leaves Her Majesty's Treasury. The British also benefit from billions in various EU subsidies to the public sector. Add it all up and the UK's net contribution is around £9.9bn, just over half the amount touted by Brexit supporters. The total drops even further if you include things like the research funding the EU provides to UK universities.

You could have read about it in various sources, including books, but what the heck, gut feelings and felt facts are cooler!

There's a really clever saying: those who can read have a clear advantage.

Well, if children in Britain, which has left the EU, are already so pissed off, the exit was probably a complete success, smile!

Well, children are already learning about the effects of nonsensical decisions by propaganda morons in the effects of inflation.

Bloody hell.

Nigel, Boris Johnson thanks for nothing.

Three years after Brexit

“An economic disaster”

The UK had high hopes for the domestic economy after Brexit. But three years after leaving the EU, the track record is poor. This year, the country is likely to be the only major economy to slide into recession.

The forecast on the third anniversary of the UK's exit from the EU is unflattering for the Conservative government. The weak growth is mainly due to the lack of labor, the director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, Paul Johnson, told the BBC on Tuesday. One of the triggers for this was Brexit, which made immigration from the EU considerably more difficult. There is a shortage of workers in many sectors, such as catering and logistics, which used to be carried out by EU citizens. However, many of them changed their focus during the pandemic and around Brexit. Now it is no longer easy to come to the UK to work due to expensive visas.

Exporters stop sales to the EU

The proportion of smaller companies in the UK exporting abroad has also fallen following Brexit. “One in eight exporters have temporarily or permanently stopped selling to the EU - and a further tenth are considering doing so,” said Lucy Monks from the Federation of Small Businesses, which represents smaller companies and the self-employed. Currently, around a fifth of these companies are still exporting their goods or services abroad - the lowest level since the start of the pandemic, when restrictions caused overall trade to slump, according to the association.Boris Glass, senior economist at ratings agency S&P Global, said the increasing red tape in trade between the UK and the EU had affected the competitiveness of smaller UK manufacturers in particular, as they had fewer resources to deal with it.

Brexit is seen as a mistakeIn view of this development, many Britons are now asking themselves what part Brexit has played in the difficult economic situation. After all, the campaign to leave the EU promised that food prices would fall, more money would be available for the NHS and the economy could operate more innovatively.

Let's face it, the two girls would definitely be in favor of joining the EU, if only because of the bloody hell ice cream prices!

Just Imagine For A Moment That We Could All Enjoy Such A Beautiful Habitat That Provides Us With All

Just imagine for a moment that we could all enjoy such a beautiful habitat that provides us with all the resources we need! Unfortunately, there are some people who stand in the way of this wonderful possibility. These individuals have big ambitions and an addiction to meaningless big-manism. But we can overcome them!

What is noteworthy is the tendency to focus on past experiences in a world facing future challenges that can only be addressed collectively.

The increasing nationalism is a clear sign that humanity is ready to not learn from history! It's time to make sure we don't end up in the next catastrophe for humanity.

Please don't say you didn't know or see it – it was right in front of you and you're ready to make a change!

Brexit: Thank you for the Hate...

I’ve read tweets and posts about the results of the UK referendum on the EU, and as far as I can see it has simply encouraged racism and caused panic.

I can almost see why people voted out and are being hateful. I’ve studied history and I know that throughout history scapegoats are in high demand when times get tough. Humans simply can’t accept that things are bad and that it may be their fault, so they blame someone who is an obvious outsider.

What astounds me though is that we are in the TWENTY FIRST century. Blindly blaming people is what the early modern Europeans did with witch hunts. It was shocking that people accepted the use of Jews as scape goats in the TWENTIETH century, and we are now in the TWENTY FIRST century. Has the human race progressed so little that it is no better than it was in the Middle Ages? A time that we deemed humanity to be completely backwards and less advanced?

Why are people still so blindly hateful? There is nothing that makes me different from someone whom I have never met who lives on the other side of the world. We both need to breathe oxygen, we both need to eat, we both bleed when we are cut, we will both form a scar when the cut heals. We are both related to our past generations and future generations to come. The only differences may be in skin, eye or hair colour, or in the language we speak, or in our faith, or in our traditions. But those are all on the surface. If you look past that- if you accept them- you can understand.

People complain about immigrants only speaking their language. When a British person goes abroad, it is rare that they learn the native language. People say immigrants stick together and don’t mix or integrate themselves. Neither do Britons when they go abroad. The same principal applies to you, so don’t slander others for acting the same as you.

Why hate people from another country? There is a chance, a golden opportunity, to share culture and traditions, and language, and knowledge. There is a chance to broaden your horizons. So why hate?

Or we could take a closed border point of view. Kick everyone who’s not ‘British’ enough out.

Why don’t we go to the extremes? Let’s empty the museums of everything that is non British, because it’s not about the world anymore; it’s about Britain and British Pride. Empty the museums and the art galleries of non-British things, return the Elgin Marbles to Greece because we don’t like foreigners. And just like that the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Tate Britain, the National Gallery, every museum, every art gallery, every library, has one small room with only a few ‘British’ artefacts.

What should we purge next? How about food? No Chinese take-aways those aren’t British. No Kababs, no Curry Vindaloo, no pizza. Those aren’t British. MacDonalds maybe, that’s American, they’re white enough, they speak English; there are white racists there too.

How about products? Can’t have that car it was made in Germany. Can’t have that toy it was made in China. Can’t have that t-shirt it was made in Taiwan. Only British goods, for British people. But we’ve got nothing.

Let’s not teach our children foreign languages either, because those aren’t British.

Those. Aren’t. British.

That. Isn’t. British.

You could go on and on, until there is a mono cultural country that has no idea of the rest of the world, but knows they hate it.

It that what you want? A country built on hate? A country that has closed itself of to the world?

It’s now a few days post Brexit (which is a stupid word) and racism has already shot through the roof. So we’ve legitimised racism what’s next? Sexism? Homophobia?

Why are we moving backwards, against all the progress that has been made? Why? Why are we set on creating a country that hates you if you are not a straight, white, cisgendered male?

That’s not what Brexit has done, but it Has set us on that path. We need to change. We need to love. You cannot fight hate with hate. Love your friends, love your neighbours, love those who are cast out for no good reason, love those who have been wronged and help put it right. But also love your enemy… nothing annoys them more.

We’re monumentally fucked. Thank you baby boomers, you’ve screwed over our generation yet again. Thank you. Thank you for screwing an entire generation over, when, not to be callous, or anything, but you won’t be around to face the consequences. 1.5 million or so 16-17 year old weren’t allowed to vote for something that would hugely affect their futures. Our economy is tanking, and it’s your fault. But there is hope. There’s a petition to hold a 2nd referendum, where we allow 16-17 year olds to vote, on the government website, that already has 100,000+ signatures and has so much traffic, that it’s crashed 3 times already, but it needs more. It should already be planned for debate in parliament, but it might be brushed under the rug. They’ve done it before. So sign it. Do something. Don’t just roll over and let a generation of disillusioned, embittered, eurosceptics decide your future.

Personally I am very angry about the Brexit vote, especially after supporting Remain and being under 18. I find it entirely unfair that older bigoted voters get to decide OUR futures and we didn't even get a say. And now we're stuck with this...
