explain the difference between adverbs and adjectives in a way that makes sense i need help

Adjectives describe a thing or a quality. Blue, big, happy, lost. They tend to attach to nouns (or pronouns). The lost manuscript. The big blue box. I am happy.

Adverbs describe how something was done. Happily, dangerously, mostly, fast, fabulously. They tend to attach to verbs and change or modify the information the verb gives us. I danced happily. I walked fast. I am mostly funny. He waved his weapons dangerously. We were all fabulously drunk.

Quick question. I’m taking your Masterclass and I’m really enjoying it. I’m a little over half way through and I had one question. A lot of the writing help books I’ve read always have some “outline plot structure” for the shape a story should take (like the story circle, take off your pants, hero’s journey, etc.) and there’s so many ways of looking at outlining the plot that I get a bit bogged down and overwhelmed. Do you ever think about things like that when you write, or do you really just keep asking questions about “what should happen next” and follow the most sensible forks that come from the questions, as you’ve talked about? I’m afraid if I don’t follow something like those plot structures my story won’t look right lol.

Just tell your story. (My outlines are lists of things that will probably happen. And then I change them anyway.)
