Miss Anne’s Place

This is my main blog. I do have a few side blogs for my writing and crafting (and my cat). Originally, this was a sims 2 blog, but now I post about reading and just about anything I’m thinking. I hope you’ll join me! I’m going to try to be more consistent in 2023.

There are a lot of replies today, so I’ll hide them under the cut.  Thanks @didilysims, @holleyberry, @yakumtsaki, @penig, @gayars, and @squeezleprime for your feedback!  It’s great to know that you’re all reading. :)

On Jodie’s possible romantic choices:

Dare to be different! I'm also digging the first guy's surfer dude look, so yeah, I'll root for him. ;)

I think in this case I will be different, unless Jodie makes it really clear that she wants to be with Pierce.  She didn’t seem as interested in dating as her brother, so I may put that off for her for a while and let her focus on her business.  But maybe surfer dude will turn out to have made an impression and we’ll see him again.  Who knows?

On upping the queue:

I queue nothing. I think you'll be fine.

I’m sure I will. :) It really is just a mental quirk I have.

* i actually enjoy letting them fail at their businesses lol like i make up little stories "today jason shows up drunk at work and fucks the whole thing up

Ha ha ha!  That’s a cool way to approach them.  I wouldn’t mind the failing, but none of it was really Jason’s fault.  I think a lot of it was my business lot design that didn’t work out...

You need to shift the focus of the challenge to something more fun for you. Your first problem was the bickering - find a way for the competition to turn into a bonding. Also, let Jason have his disasters! If he's getting trounced in the business through bad luck while she's sitting pretty, that's a vector of change.

Thanks for the thoughts.  I’d be happy to let Jason have his disasters if they were really his fault and not mine, but like I said above, I’m pretty sure most of the issues were caused by me and my crappy business designing.  And a random lightning strike...

Honestly, it’s been a month or two since I played that round and went through all that frustration, and I think I’m getting over it.  Watching it play out again as the posts queued up, I started to enjoy the competition between the twins.  I want to watch their interactions on other lots and with other sims and see what happens there.  They may never learn to get along.  Some siblings don’t.  We’ll have to see what the future holds.

On who is winning between the twins:

gayars replied to your photoset “Which twin do you think is “winning”?  It’s a pretty close race.  ...”

The girl is prettier :D

If it was a competition for who was prettier, Jodie would totally win.  Although I think she and Jason are actually identical twins, so maybe the features just look better on a girl than a guy?

squeezleprime replied to your photoset “Which twin do you think is “winning”?  It’s a pretty close race.  ...”

Jodie

I’d agree, although it is pretty close.  Jodie got the reporter, though, and the award, so that did push her into a lead just a bit.  We’ll see what happens next time, I guess!

Thanks for all the replies, guys!  I really appreciate it.  The Jacquet round starts tomorrow and I am so excited for you guys to see it!  I seriously have not had that much fun playing in Bluewater since the Landgraab round!  :D

When Do You Need To Go Back To The City, Gilbert? Denise Asked After All The Guests Had Left.

“When do you need to go back to the city, Gilbert?” Denise asked after all the guests had left.

“I’m not going back until I get all Dad’s stuff sorted out,” Gilbert said.  “I’ll go through it all for you, make sure everything’s taken care of.”

“You’re such a good boy.”  Denise hugged him tightly.  “I’m so lucky to have you.”

“I love you, Mom.”

Gilbert Tried To Take His Mind Off His Mother By Trying To Play Her Piano, But He Hadnt Played Since

Gilbert tried to take his mind off his mother by trying to play her piano, but he hadn’t played since he was a kid and it didn’t sound very good.  He had just managed to plunk out something that could have been “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” when the phone rang.

“Hello?”

“Hello?  Who is this?” a tearful voice said on the other end.

“This is Gilbert Jacquet.  Who’s this?”

“My name is Breanna Custer.  I work at the J’Adore Bakery.  Or I did.  I don’t know if I still do or not, after...”  She sobbed into the phone.

Gilbert cursed under his breath.  He’d forgotten the bakery.  Of course his dad had had employees, and they’d be grieving too...

“Of course you’re still employed,” he said.  “I’m in town helping my mom out for a while.  I’ll come into the bakery and we can talk for a while, if you want, try to figure out what’ll happen to the place now.  I’m not the chef my dad was, but I don’t want to let the place just die...Do you want to meet?”

“O...okay,” she sniffed.  “You want to meet today?”

“I’m free whenever.”

“How’s three o’clock?”

“Okay.  I’ll see you then.”

“See you then.”

Gilbert hung up and buried his face in his hands.  What was he going to do with the bakery?  His dad had left it to him and his mom in the will, but he’d never run a business before.  He’d done a bit of retail work as a teen, learned a bit about how to use a register, but he didn’t know much else.  His cooking skills were limited to microwave mac and cheese.  His mom was clearly not going to be able to help him any time soon...He really hoped this Breanna Custer girl knew what she was doing, because otherwise the bakery was kind of screwed...
