I think it would have been so funny if in Torchwood Ianto’s character had been the same as it was in early season 1 (sort of there, in the background, not really going on missions, taking care of everyone quietly, and making snide comments here and there) for like… multiple seasons and Lisa never happened and we never really learn about him and he was just a chill secondary butler character and then season 3 or 4 or 5 they just sort of casually drop the fact that he and Jack have been together for years and are actually in a very serious relationship and it just never came up because they were at work and trying to keep things professional
