In the future, there is a day where Andrew feels completely safe and content in his flat with Neil and the cats. He has a slow morning and nobody bitches about how much sugar he puts in his coffee. He watches Neil do taxes in the living room, spends the afternoon baking cookies and the evening reading on their sofa with his feet under Neil's thigh (because they were cold) and a cat on his lap.

When Neil wakes there is a metallic black beast parked alongside the rental car. Neil isn't any smarter about cars now than he'd been at the start of the year, but every curve of this one screams expensive. Neil assumes Andrew did with this purchase what he'd done with the last: simply looked for whichever car would burn through his budget the fastest. It is a perplexing quirk for a man who claims to have no attachments to his material possessions. Andrew opens the back door and looks across the backseat at Neil. "Kevin?" Neil scrubs the sleep out of his eyes and undoes his buckle. "Let him ride with you. I have nothing to say to him." Andrew shuts the door again, and Neil moves up to the driver's seat. Andrew pulls out of the lot first and Neil follows him to the interstate.
