I choose state control— as a trans girl, you can guess why.

Though, I think there's equally obvious bonus benefits.

SLP—1: Super Powers

The poll is simple, there are super powers, but you may only take one. If you choose a power, please tell us why. If you need help deciding, check below the poll for more information.

Memory Regeneration

You are as immortal as your name. As long as someone recalls your existence— the idea of you, you cannot truly die or cease to be. You can be restored from the image of yourself within the minds of others. A life long friend may be suffice alone, but it may take a hundred strangers. Your legacy is your life.

Psionic Abilities

Your mind is capable of influencing both the world, and even other minds. Telekinesis allows you to exert control over physical things— moving, crushing, feeling, etc. Telepathy allows you to speak into the mind's of other's, transmit memories, thoughts, raw emotions, or even dreams— more impportantly, you can access what's already there, and come to know any person more intimately than they know themselves.

Neo Sense

Our cognition informs our subjective view of reality. You're familiar with the 5 sensory abilities we commonly use, but science has categorised numerous additional senses. Neo Sense allows you to mix and merge the nature of a sensory abilities to create new ways of experiencing reality. For example, integrating smell with sight to visually perceive various scents, or integrating your ability to discern hot form cold to gain inmate thermal vision. One can also use a form of "super sense," to vastly amplify or enhance a singular one of the 5 main senses at the cost of the other 4 (temporarily).

State Control

Some fear that, for as much as they are themselves, their body cannot reflect it. But what if you could change it, all of it? You could make cosmetic changes, like colour, hair length etc, or you could be practical. Additional limbs, sensory organs, etc. Or perhaps you'll change the material composition of your body— enhancing muscle efficiency and bone durability. Sure, it could take getting use to. But you've got time. It's not like ageing is a problem anymore.

Elementalist

You wield a subset of seemingly simple powers: thermal, hydro, atmo, and geo.

Thermal is tied to creating and controling thermal energy. You can draw on fire, or even sparks and excite them into blazes or explosions, boil liquids enough to scar flesh. It's not quite as bland as just shooting beams of fire.

Hydro is about water (and it's relevent states, ice and vapour). Avatar-like waterbending is quite akin to this. But there are nichè uses even Avatar fails to touch on. For example, making a vapour aura that rapidly shifts form to accommodate your needs.

Atmo is about air, or gasses inhabiting a space. Manipulate the vibrations in the air to create and influence sound, compress and rapidly release air to shatter bones, or create and manipulate localised atmospheres or bubbles.

Geo is about the planet itself: employ mud, stone and metal as means to attack and defend— they're yours to control. Alter the elemental makeup of your body, or even manipulate that of objects to create polymers and alloys.

Most importantly. Don't forget you can combine each of these "simple" powers in complex ways... For devastating effect. For example, heat a localised pocket of air and excite the particles to create lightning, encase the pocket with water, fuelled towards a target... You have a thunder gun.

Kleptoknowledge

Simultaneous possession of the aforementioned powers would make someone dangerous. But, what use is power you cannot comprehend and thus apply? What if, you were capable of siphoning the intelligence of those around you— diminishing their minds while your own grows stronger. You could walk through a town center and drain a singular IQ point from each person; you will leave with twice the intellect of the greatest historical geniuses.

Colours

I like red or yellow as a secondary colour: contrasting black as a primary.

For accents or accessories, gold and silver, or black and grey can be nice maybe even some brass or bronze.

A far as pastel colours go, soft pinks and peachy reds are sweet. Generally, I dress pretty dark though.

Reading

As far as manga goes, the last manga I read was Boruto: Two Blue Vortex (Chapter 13). But, the last manga I read through to the end (or rather until there were no more chapters released) were Samurai in Another World and Jūjika no Rokunin.

As far as non-fiction books go, I'm currently reading the satanic bible (yes I'm serious), some books on Wicca, and silly "dark psychology" stuff. The fictional story for me right now is Flight School: Prey, following Lolani Tori.

My current webtoon to read is "Everything is Fine."

Music

The last song I listened to was technically 6arelyhuman's track Take a Pic (w/ Asteria). But, assuming you don't want the result of me just leaving shuffle play to do its job, the last song I choose to listen to would be History Maker by DEAN FUJIOKA (the Yuri on Ice OP).

The truth is I love too many genres, some pop, trap, post hardcore punk, metalcore, deathcore, teen/emo rock, drift phonk, ragecore/trapmetal, glitchcore, hyperpop, scenecore, melodic death metal, jpop, jrock, visual kei, UK drill, edm, breakcore, lolicore (real subgenre), horrorcore, reggae, dancehall, accoustic, and instrumental.

But honestly just take, this, that, and some other playlist. As a bonus, here's a playlist that predates my former self invoking Protocol Aya. Songs played throughout a specific month.

Craving

Love and companionship?

Jokes aside...

I suppose I'd like hot chocolate, so I'll go do that.

Bo'lle eh Water

Under rule of divine king, descendent of the undying queen, I shall favour tea at all times.

Please save me from this fascist island.

They hate trans people.

🌟 Learning Japanese 🇯🇵

🔔 あたしのガイドは、人が英語を話す向けー (◔‿◔)

The following guide is based on my personal experience. I am not an authority on the matter and I am still barely a beginner regarding Japanese.

What am I doing?

Learning languages seems non-lienar and that's partly true (at an intermediate level). But, when you're first starting out, there's generally clear goals to work toward.

Your Beginner Goals

Study and master kana

Japanese employs hiragana and katakana in conjunction with kanji. Together, hiragana and katakana make up kana.

Learn the kana (hiragana and katakana)

Learn the difference between kunyomi and onyomi (kanji)

Delve into grammar and establish some foundational vocab

Immerse yourself with input content (movies, shows, etc)

Study and practice a basic form of "pitch accent"

Continue developing your vocab and particle knowledge

Learn about polite versus casual talk and social culture

Use the language (letters, blog, diary, etc)

Seek conversations to apply the language properly

Find and study tests like JLPT to gauge your progress

What can I use?

Duolingo

If this was your first pick, you're naive but not foolish. It'll teach you enough to get help if you're lost in Japan. But it won't be enough to hold a conversation. Give it a try and see if it works for you. Duolingo is free.

I recommend using Duolingo as a supplementary learning tool rather than your primary learning tool

Textbooks and Guides

Many learners and even classes praise numerous textbooks. I for one received a recommendation for Tae Kim's Japanese Guide. So, I'll recommend it to you. Don't be afraid to see out other guides or attempt some textbooks. However, one should always remember that the textbook is NOT demonstrative of naturalistic Japanese.

For example, 「私は猫が好きです」 is what a textbook correctly teaches, though 「猫好きだよ」 is acceptable and more natural in casual Japanese

Building vocabulary

If you want to develop your vocabulary, you can use JLPT anki decks. Anki is a flashcard program for desktop and mobile. You can also use anki in conjunction with a dictionary like Jisho to create new flashcards decks (suited to the words you'd like to learn). You may also pick up vocab from Japanese media (i.e, anime, manga, books, content creators, music, etc).

If you're using Jisho and want to find a word you only know in English, search for it using quotation marks. For example, "school" or, if you want a verb "to learn" ~ it should help. You can spell out Japanese words normally by just typing... i.e, watashi.

Good input versus Bad input

Immersing yourself in Japanese media and culture is good but you need to be mindful of the content you're consuming— take note of the context behind events, interactions, or the relationship of speakers. Be especially mindful of anime and manga— both are known to use hyperbolic language or phrases that aren't commonly used in day to day conversation. Fortunately, some anime and manga do use everyday language, and you can usually find lists.

I recommend using the Tofugu blog to learn about both Japanese language and culture. But if you don't like reading, there are many YT channels like Kaname Naito and NihongoDekita with Sayaka. For general immersion though, here's a sweet vlog channel, a JP Warframe creator, and a natural born otaku.

Tgirl Moans about Labels

Despite the title, I'm going to be moaning about microlabels (and briefly, pansexuality); however, you should be aware that I DO NOT think less of people that use obscure neo pronouns or labels.

Why we use labels

Labels like "gay" and "straight" indicate the scope of your attraction. Homosexual & Homo romantic create a distinction that clarifies the nature of your attraction. They help adequately and simply communicate who we are while also allowing people of our likeness to realise there's others like them— the inclusive element.

How do microlabels get in the way

If you ask me, some microlabels border on hyper specific obscurity that either communicates information that isn't necessary (from the outside looking in), or the information that is supplementary and better falls under "your type" or personality traits.

As an example, I have a friend that was looking for a label that encompasses them, as a bi person that only liked feminine expressing (not indentifying) people. Why does that need a label? That is deadass just your type. You like girly girls and femboys.

If we make hyper-specific labels for every aspect of ourselves, we will struggle to fit in anywhere because our label becomes far more individualistic than inclusive— it gets isolating in a way.

Moreover, people change. Your hyper-specific label might be invalidated by a single event that alters the way you think and feel. Then, you're stuck trying to find or craft a whole new obscure label.

When you finally figure that out, you gotta hope and pray people discover it, recognise it, understand it, and use it.

Pansexual's take on pan

I used to identity as pansexual but decided it didn't feel quite right. Not because of me, but because of the identity itself. But why?

Pan does whatever the plot requires

I liken pansexuality to a poorly explained fictional power. The scope and nature is never outlined by the story, so to the reader, the power seems to work (and fails to work) whenever it is convenient for the plot.

Pansexuality isn't a grounded label that every member of the community views the same way— to a worse extent than terms like Gay or Lesbian (more on that later).

In high school, lgbt friends described pan as being "bi with extra steps." Others have claimed pan is just bi with a minor somantic difference. Some people say that pan is just being bi but also being inclusive for trans people. From my understanding, pansexuality was an attraction not based on sex/gender. Personally, I think that idea makes pan more of a microlabel than a sexuality.

With that last concept of pan, it doesn't actually communicate a sexuality (i.e, who and how you're attracted to someone (or not in the case of asexuals)). Instead, it communicates details about the sexuality. It's like if I asked you who your friend is, and you told me that they play Pokémon. It's nice to know that detail ABOUT them, but that doesn't tell me WHO they are.

Based on the aforementioned idea of pan. You could theoretically be sexually/romantically available for members of all sexes, or a singular sex. But, just saying "I'm pan" fails to communicate which is the case.

Gay and Lesbian

When I was growing up, Gay and Lesbian fell under "homosexual." An attraction to the same-sex. Personally, I prefer the idea that it denotes attraction to the same gender. But, that's the newer take.

As a trans girl, I don't think it's fair to tell an older lesbian she's transphobic for claiming her lesbian status as a reason not to date a trans woman— why? Because, to her knowledge, that's NOT what the label means.

In that kinda situation no one is right. The use of the labels isn't actually universal and that creates in-fighting and division.

If you ask me, the entire damn system needs to reworked.. and no I did not write this entire thing with nothing in mind.

Where is your system

As I said, I do have something in mind.

THEN SHOW ME

but, I'd like to see if this post gets me slandered or something crazy first 🥲
