Question tho? Considering the cult theory, what is your theory as to why Hosea stayed with Dutch till the end?

And/or was he an active member of the cult leadership? Were this his intentions, considering he started the group together with Dutch?

I really do feel the Van Der Linde Gang was a cult... (Spoilers)

It goes from the fact that for all of Dutch's rants about the evil of civilisation, he himself dresses in fine suits and waistcoats. Suckles on rich cigar's, and lives comfortably in the most lavish tent in camp. While other members have to sleep on the ground with a piece of cloth above them that doesn't even protect them fully from the elements.

His speeches don't come from the heart, but are regurgetated spiel from other men. Even as to note in his scripts to add in 'brief pauses' because he knows it has effect. And will wrap everyone further around his finger.

It goes from everyone in that gang (save Molly initially, but she becomes a victim of Dutch's abuse later on) being a victim of society. That Dutch 'brings in' but it seems this adoption is less about...actually helping those who need it, and more about collecting these people who will come to revere him and admire him for he did for them. Turning more people over to his side. With how many members are victims of society or other factors, it is almost like Dutch actively looks for the vulnerable.

You have many people of colour in the gang, which in such a time period, was cause enough to warrant many abuses and even death by scumbags. Slavery might've been abolished, but the ramifications of it still linger for people like Lenny and Tilly and Charles. The 'other' complex surrounding Natives would have also affected Charles, and him being on his own for most of his life makes sense when he just can't trust people. You Have Javier, a revolutionary fleeing his home who could not speak a lick of english and as such, was left to starve and die because no one could be bothered with him.

Yet, when racists like Micah (and sometimes Bill) are directly contributing to the hate-mongering towards people of colour. Dutch is silent.

John and Arthur and Mary-Beth being orphans. Without parents, or anyone to look up to. Their loyalty is utterly conditioned into them. Dutch being a father figure to all three most likely, which akes his creepy advances towards Mary-Beth all the stranger.

Bill is heavily implied to be a gay man (bisexual?? Potentially?? But likely gay) which, again in such a time period. Would have left him vulnerable. Having being ejected from the army for said preference.

So, you have a cast of characters from tragic backgrounds and/or are victims of something they shouldn't be of. All herded into a camp that looks up to this one man 'with a plan'. Where they work endlessley to provide for everyone. And he reads books in his tent, sometimes helping on the odd job. For characters like Javier, Dutch gave them purpose. A life. A family. Of course they're gonna revere Dutch. But the second they doubt? The second they question? Dutch shuts them down with emotional blackmail. Or, in the case of John and Arthur towards the end of the game. Fosters a culture where those who are doubting Dutch are nearly ostracised for their feelings. Making them feel

And Molly, the woman who was the 'closest' to Dutch. Experiencing the emotional and mental abuse he laid into her. I do think Molly had a superiority complex (from my playthrough and what I saw of her) considering she was from higher class. So she was not someone. But this does not neccessarily make her a bad person. After all, she left everything she knew for Dutch. And relied on him heavily, because...she had nothing else. And the rest of the gang, however justified they might be in their feelings, had a dislike towards her. So she did not have ANYONE to talk to about what she was experiencing, about the way Dutch would talk to her, about how he would be affectionate then immeditately withdraw from her, teating her like a nuisance, flirting with a much younger woman who he probably knew as a teenager. And it boiled down to her having a crisis and breaking down. And in the end, being a victim of Dutch's cult like culture where Grimshaw shot her down without a second thought after believing she betrayed them.

so is it any wonder Bill and Javier turned out the way they did when the gang fell apart? These two men sided with Dutch in the end because they furiously believed in him. Loyal to a fault. Javier had his doubts, he saw that things were going to the shitter. But he was so goddamned loyal that he ignored what he was seeing to please and stick by Dutch. So it makes sense he becomes the bastard that he is in RDR1.

I do like Dutch's character. He's complex and flawed and villainous in a way that is both infuriating and somewhat tragic. But the Van Der Linde gang is more like the Van Der Linde cult. And I find it a bit hard to believe he TRULY cared about his people as much as they all cared about him. I think he liked the idea of being this sort of shephard to the unwanted of society. That he was this progressive with a following. That he was a surrogate father to people, a brother to others. I think he liked the ideas of people, of what he was.

The Witcher Netflix Season 2 Spoilers!

Some things I just need to get out of me:

• I disliked most of it if you ask me as a Witcher Fan. It not canon, not at all. They did so many things wrong or executed them the wrong way or idk.. only like one or two thirds were based on the books, which is really a shame since the books already have a very good, compact story and wouldn't need big changes to make it into a good series.

• if you ask me as a person who knows nothing about Witcher lore, it was a good season. The cinematic aspect was phenomenal, the acting was on spot and the story line was okay (a bit shaky tho)

• also Joeys new songs slap so hard omfg espacially Burn, Butcher, Burn and Whoreson Prison Blues are so good.. he also got more Dandelion the episode (which I love)

• I also really loved Cöen, Lambchop (so cute) and Vesemir.. they were all executed very well and I basically fell in love with them all over again

•Eskel tho? Ohhohoho we really need to talk about my boi beCAUSE WTF DID THEY DO TO HIM??? why him?? why not one of the 15 other (mostly nameless witchers) who died in the end anyways???

• also his character?? Like wtf that was not him at all. He was like the politest witcher soul ever in the books, a total sweetheart with a big scar in his face, scary, scruffy looks and an ugly voice.. this bitch tho? Not Eskel. Nah, won't accept it.

• btw witchers.. what went wrong with the contact lenses? Did they spend all their bdget on Rience's one eye? Or on Yenns ugly ass unrealistic lookin violet ones? Love that Cöen had two different eyes but the rest.. only one with special eyes was Geralt

•apropro special.. wtf was that with the bruxa in the beginning? Since when can they fly? Right, never, they also don't have a bat form or can move round like that thing did

• Okay but back to the boys.. oha emotional rollercoaster omfg. Why were there 20 witchers? They were supposed to be like 5 at max.. also why make them if kill them in the end anyways??

• killing btw, I wouldn't have blamed Vesimir for killing Ciri.. he lost his sons, she or, better, Baba Yaga killed them.. it would have been the lesser evil to kill Ciri if it would have killed Baba Yaga too (also the show is a shitsshow this or that way, wouldn't have been surprised if smt like that happened)

• apropros killing his sons.. Vesemir was left broken by Eskels death. And Geralt? Supposedly best friend and closest brother of Eskel? He KILLED him and wasn't even half as sad as the rest of his brothers.. he killed his damn horse which he changes like dirty underclothes and was sadder about it than killing his own brother. He didn't even give Vesemir the time to mourn or say his last goodbyes.. "the wolfs are coming" stfu u stupid worthless excuse of a brother, u know what, you didn't deserve Eskel

• also ppl saying "oh he was such a good father" like no??? In the first half of the season he was literally a dudebro to Ciri, not a father.. even in the end he still called her Cirila wtf

Jaskier, Cöen, Lambert and Vesemir, y'all have my love.. oh and I really dislike Triss because she's a pick me and toxic in general (based on the series, books and games; same as Yennefer) but I really liked her cute grandfather-granddaughter relationship she had with Vesemir (like in the books yk)

• kinda paniced when they were about to execute Cahir ngl.. like wouldn't put it behind them to ruin the Hansa as well

• which, speaking of, I am SO SCARED of what will happen to them because technically, if the books count anyhow, they will be introduced in the next season

• omfg if they ruin Regis, if they ruin my poor old sweet humanistic vampire man, I'll idk what I will do but it won't be good

• but lets face it, everything Netflix did to the witcher is not Canon, at least not as a whole.. it can be could as a meh executed fanfiction but not as canon lore, thanks

Pt 2 of me complaining about TWN s2 !SPOILER!

• Nivellen.. oh the poor boyo Nivellen... yes. He canonly raped that priestess. But no, he didn't do it because he thought it was cool or wanted to do it. He was FORCED to do it.. to gain just a little love/affection from his father and grandfather he joined a group of basically criminals who one day raided a temple.. the group coerced him to do it and he felt guilty the whole time.. yeah he still did it and rape is rape but theres still a slight different between "oh I did it willingly, it was so much fun" or "i was stupid to join that group of criminals just to impress my father and grandfather to give me fucking love for ONCE in my life and later, when I said something against robbing the temple the they forced me to rape the dying priestess which I would have felt guilty af about, even without the curse".... I despise what he did and am NOT trying to protect him but its an important piece of information nonetheless

• another update: thinking about it I dislike the Baba Yaga story (like I don't haaate it but its not amazing either) and Yennefer trying to sacrifice Ciri is bs (Yen is toxic af but she loved Ciri (first bc of the Djinn but later bc she grew to love her as a child))
