Kind of a PSA

So, one thing that has always bothered me is how plus size characters are written into fics. Usually, it’s centered around a single line when that person is about to get naked and it usually goes along the lines of “oh, in case you didn’t notice, I’m fat/chubby/big”.

Now let me point this out as a plus size person myself. The reason this is a problem is because it always feels like its been thrown in, like someone requested a chubby x whatever character, so the writer just adds in this one line, or for the pairing they put whatever character x chubby reader.

Now the purpose of using ‘x reader’ is to allow ambiguity, I get it, but there are ways to incorporate the person is plus sized apart from throwing in that single awkward sentence. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO USE CERTAIN WORDS. It feels like most writers are worried about offending their fan base, but trust me, a lot of plus size people want to relate to the reader in the stories. Certain descriptive words that I feel like can be used when writing in a plus size character:

Dips

Rolls

Juicy

Thick

Jiggle

Round

Handful

This is only my take on it as a plus size person, there may be people who don’t agree with me. But I think setting up a premise for a reader who is considered bigger than an average person is different.

Also, and the other thing that drives me crazy; Please stop writing whatever character like they’re doing chubby reader a favor when they kiss/get intimate with them. It’s usually written to sound so patronizing, like this reader has no self worth until whatever character decides to show them attention. Or that they’re not worthy of the attention because of it.

Plus size people have their own body image issues, and we have grown used to people who both hate and love our bodies. If you don’t want to write for plus size characters, don’t! But please stop making all the plus size readers have to point out they’re fat. I’m pretty sure whatever character is giving them attention has eyes and will see they’re not tiny or slim.

So to summarize, humanize your plus size characters. They deserve more than a single line in the story where they state that they are fat.

Hi! I usually tag my posts with Bleach (of course), Bleach blog, the type of post it is (headcanons, imagines, thoughts, etc.), the characters I'm writing about, and sometimes some nonsense tags just cuz I'm goofy to all heck.

Two factors as to why I'm in this for fun and not so much for popularity:

1. We are unfortunately past peak popularity for Bleach (It's a sad fact of life); however, I'm expecting there's gonna be a surge since they're going to be animating the Thousand Year Blood War arc. 😁

2. Peeps tend to gravitate towards authors they already know and you know we have some MAJOR heavy-hitters on Tumblr for Bleach. I'm still pretty new and due to circumstances AFK, I don't really get time to put out a whole lot of content.

So yeah, I do tag stuff. If I end up getting popular, cool beans; if not, also cool beans! Like I said, I'm in this for the fun of it.😸🖤💜
