Journal: I didn't become a witch, I realized I have always been one

It occurs to me upon finding some old poetry I wrote in high school that despite only recently ‘discovering’ witchcraft, that I have always been a little witchy. Some of these old poems very much sound like spells. This was my 'emo’ phase, where my emotions were always raw and spilling out and my way to let them out was poetry. I can feel the energy and intent in these emotional pieces of writing. At least a few of these will probably go in my grimoire, if only to remember where I’ve been. And to remind myself not to get caught up with ceremony and lose what I’m trying to do in the process. If I can feel the magic in these words ten years later, clearly I didn’t need anything fancy to cast it.

simple ways to infuse green energy into your home & life ✹

Here are a few simple methods I use in my own home & day to day life

Simple Ways To Infuse Green Energy Into Your Home & Life

❀ plant placement ❀

⋆ cacti/succulents in windowsills, at doorways, or in corners - home protection, warding off of negative energies/beings, barring individuals with bad intentions from coming into your home *I think of them as guardians of my precious dwelling*

⋆ air-purifying plants in highly frequented rooms - for a cleansing boost, detoxification, mood & productivity improvement *I currently have in my home: peace lily, palm, golden pothos, dracaenas | other easy-to-care-for  purifiers: spider plant, english ivy, rubber plant*

⋆ plants in spiritual places - an effective way to honor the earth energies & receive aid in your green endeavors is to make your sacred space or altar of any sort into a home for a plant of your choosing | set your intentions for the space & chose a plant that corresponds to your needs ex: cacti for protection, peace lilies for cleansing, basil for warding etc

❀ plant cultivation  ❀

⋆  honoring a deity of fertility or abundance when sowing & reaping - when starting seeds, planting seedlings & harvesting: give an offering, ask for blessings, build a simple outdoor altar next to garden made of things sourced from your property *I use the rune Fehu  ᚠ reguarly when honoring Freyr the nordic god of fertility to magnify the abundance of my fruit-bearing plants*

⋆ using plants for medicinal/cosmetic purposes - herbs & parts of plants can serve as a multifaceted tool in green witchcraft ex: calming or healing teas, sickness fighting tinctures, breakout fighting facial sprays, clearing ciders and smokes, moisturizing face masks, soothing balms, antibacterial poultices *I grow mint, lemon balm, basil, sage, aloe*

❀ earth interaction  ❀

⋆  speaking or singing to animals in your home and yard

⋆ earthing - walking barefoot  on your property with grounding connection and the intent to make a connection to the earth energies coming from underneath your feet

⋆  cultivation - having a mindful garden that flows with the same current as nature

⋆ foraging for edible plants - commune with the earth & learn what she can offer to sustain you, always ask for permission before taking from the earth

☼ I hope you’ve enjoyed these short & simple ways to invite green energy into your life & home! Whether you already have your foot in the door or are just getting curious on how to start, I hope you have found some green inspiration here ☼
