you know
the way (some of) the fandom treats keefe vs fitz feeds into how they are treated in canon (or in my head, I don't even know anymore)
keefe isn't perfect, and he embraces it. he's reckless, messy, impulsive... and sometimes they're even some of the characteristics that people love about him.
he's allowed to mess up. he will be forgiven.
now fitz - he's presented as the perfect golden child. so any time he makes a mistake... people hate him for it. he's not allowed to mess up. if he's not being perfect, he's suddenly... the worst.
but at the SAME TIME. he's also "too perfect" and people hate him for that too.
pick a side!
i want to start off by specifying that this is HEADCANON/FANON. Don't come after me
imagine Fitz and Biana book 4 going to join the black swan, and they finally have a chance to be free, to do things without the feeling of pressure and eyes on them, until Della decides to come along, they're excited to have her with them at first, but then they realize it feels like she's just there to keep an eye on them and they can feel her constantly watching, looking over their shoulders, making small remarks about their little imperfections
Della cares about appearance just as much as alden, and her way of keeping Fitz and Biana in line is passive aggressive comments and humiliation
"Yes, biana's been doing her own makeup now, it's cute how she's trying so hard" (when Biana's a bit younger and just trying to find her own style)
"I know he looks like he's put on a bit of weight, but it is still Fitz!" (followed by a laugh) (talking to someone who hasnt seen fitz in a few years)
Alden wouldn't be the only manipulative parent. Della does tend to turn a blind eye, but she is part of the problem.
.
never getting over Sophie just letting Alvar go in that tower scene in Legacy right before the fitzphie break up. (Keefe might have been there too- i don't remember- which makes it a million times worse.)
like in what world was that her choice to make? Idc if the guy looked like death- that's not her son, or her brother, and the entire decision was just beyond stupid. ??? that's a known terrorist, who might have taken part in torturing you and Dex in book one?? that's your boyfriend's brother?? like you cannot be serious.
sure, Alvar might have crawled away to die, but to not tell his parents? to not give his family some closure? a body to bury??
that alone is a bigger reason for Fitz to break up with her than matchmaking by a landslide.
"Omg if telepaths are so rare them why do we see so many telepaths in the book"
Sophie *is* a telepath. I'm sure if it was from Keefe's point of view, we'd see more Empaths, and if it was from Dex's point of view, we'd see more technopaths.
And none of the telepaths that Sophie interacts with are just random telepaths that she happens to stumble upon, either. All of the telepaths found her, not the other way around. In fact, almost all of the telepaths she knows are Vackers, or Black Swan and Neverseen members. And of course two Councillors were telepaths (Emery and Kenric), all of the Council members have rare abilities and/or can do something unique with their abilities.
There are probably at least millions of elves in the Lost Cities, right? So out of all of the telepaths Sophie's met, there are definitely more in the world, probability wise, there has to be. Even if there were 10 million elves in the Lost Cities, and 0.1% of them were telepaths, then there would have to be at least 1,000 telepaths in the world. That's a lot of telepaths!! But probability wise, it would still be considered a rare ability, and Sophie has met less than twenty of them.
