I’ve completely overhauled my method of setting goals, and this is how I’m going to keep track of them this year to set myself up for success! Hope this is helpful for all of you :) Happy goal setting!

“Bilinguals overwhelmingly report that they feel like different people in different languages. It is often assumed that the mother tongue is the language of the true self. (…) But, it first languages are reservoirs of emotion, second languages can be rivers undammed, freeing their speakers to ride different currents.”

This comic is the result of my first livestream yesterday with my Patreon community as a celebration of 250+ patrons! The chat helped me come up with the idea of the heart being passed along and growing with each positive addition, as well as the appearance of the red panda and ghost. : ) Everyone was super supportive and kind, and hoping I can stream again (maybe for everyone next time) when I get the time!
Normalize bare faces in ALL settings. Makeup should not be a requirement for beauty, professionalism or hygiene. Normalize the idea that if applying makeup isn’t enjoyable there’s no reason to be wearing it. Then destroy the elitism within makeup culture and destroy the idea that makeup as a hobby requires spending a lot of money.
I don’t need 100% fluency I just need to be able to watch Netflix while folding laundry without looking at subtitles
a healthy habit I’ve adopted recently is asking myself “how is this serving me”. I take this approach mostly when I’m scrolling through social media but it works for me in other aspects of life as well, such as when staying up late reading. Or what I’m feeding myself, sometimes it IS having that butter & honey on my fruit toast or having those cookies if it nourishes my soul. But having that question “how is this serving me” also lets me be conscious of how I am spending my time & resources. It allows me to tune into my goals and each step that either brings me closer or further from these
I don't know what student needs to hear this right now but there is no superiority in being constantly stressed out. if you find yourself competing with classmates to see who has the most work or studying to do or who got the least amount of sleep last night, please, please stop. I promise you it's so much better for your long term health to not engage in those kinds of toxic interactions. get enough sleep, eat enough food, and stay away from people who derive their self worth from how much work they have to do
Whatever you describe to another person is also a revelation of who you are and who you think you are. You cannot describe anything without betraying your point of view, your aspirations, your fears, your hopes. Everything.
James Baldwin, Notes of a Native Son
a gentle reminder to not compare yourself. look at your own life, not the lives of others. it doesn’t matter if you’re not where you want to be. every day is a new beginning. learn things, look nice and take care of yourself because you want to, not to be ‘better’ than someone. simply make your life meaningful to you. no one can take that away from you.
