Breaking Bonds | PJM | Chapter 1

The history of the fae and nymphs - elements that used to live together harmoniously. Like the primary and secondary elements of life and magic, the love between faes and nymphs was sacred - so sacred that only royals had the right to arrange a marriage between their children.

But hundreds of centuries later, amongst the roots of enmity that were fueled by old grudges and misunderstandings, blew out of proportion and affected many citizens.

The dark history between them that started was marked by blood in the ledger books. The first is The Great Rift. The conflicts between faes and nymphs are often referred to in this phrase as the powerful fae kingdom taking lands that were traditionally inhabited by the nymphs. Territorial dispute ignited much hostility and opposition. This therefore caused the lack of resources. Both mystical beings relied on the same natural elements to thrive from the magical essence in their forests.

And within these battles of dominance grew something more than just territory but also magical supremacy. Each mystical being possesses its own unique and elemental powers. As the war grew to a larger scale, betrayals were not able to be prevented. A web of alliances and betrayals intermingle with the supernatural races while leading to mutual distrust.

The history was marred by not one, not two, but five different wars at different times. Both sides inflicted much suffering on the other. The wars led to untold loss with neither willing to yield. The main lasting repercussions come in, especially in the revised laws that were enacted to prevent any form of interaction or alliance between fae and nymph. Love between individuals of two races was seen as a dangerous threat to the stability of their respective societies.

The history was written in blood and the older generation of both races have a hard time letting go of their prejudices.

And here lies the snowstorm.

In the middle of the forest, where the snow blasts down like little chilling knives slicing through your skin and a good three feet of snow -

Your kind were the ice nymphs, once the royal family, now stripped of your title and an outcast amongst your kind. Where the fae folk thrived, you ventured - away from the place you once called home, now a barren room barely the size of a storage room. The scars of the Cold War between the nymphs still lingered, leaving the kingdom in the easy grip of the Lyrin fae.

You kind - the ice nymphs - were rare to come about, each one of your veins flows with the power of winter. In the lores, your kind was told to have a beauty that was like a fragile kind of enchantment, with hair as pale as frost, and skin as delicate as the first snowfall.

There were only a few times that you have looked in the mirror - countable with five fingers. After your family was stripped of their title, with you accordingly, life was never the same. Your people, with no place to go, lost trust and justice in you.

Desperation drove her journey as she yearned to escape the dark shadow of your people’s fall that hung over her head like a knife over the bed. Even with the ice in your veins, that winter night, when the biting frost finally embraced you and hunger gnawed at your core, your strength failed. You had pushed yourself as far as you could but as the sun dipped below the horizon, your body could no longer hold you up, giving in to your exhaustion and malnutrition.

Lying beneath the icy canopy, you were a fragile, half-dead being that is an easy hunt for food for predators living around the area. Your eyes swerved back, trying to calculate how far you might have to go back for shelter. But you didn’t know.

You had walked without a direction, lost in the depths of the Lyrin forest. Frostbites numbed your limbs and your brain was moving slower from the exhuation. But there it was, amidst the unforgiving cold and darkness, you sensed a presence stirring.

Your hazed hearing registered the crunch of footsteps in the snow as your blurry vision sent your brain to somebody standing next to you. Your eyes roll around until you have a clearer picture of who it is. A man with dark hair, brown eyes, and plush lips, dressed in regal attire with a crest of the fae kingdom. Lyrin was one of the biggest fae kingdoms and everybody knows their crests. After all, it was them who led the battles many years ago. It was them that inflicted the harm and loss on your people. It was them that had killed the ruling family back then.

Your family.

But he wasn’t the one who took the action. No, he was almost as old as you were and then, the both of you were barely kids.

Prince Jimin, they called him.

The golden sunlight.

Breaking Bonds | PJM | Chapter 1

The crown of Lyrin weighed heavily on his shoulders. He knew the crowning ceremony would be soon, and this winter, he wanted to let go and be just a man until he could no longer. Once he takes over the throne from his father, his duty to serve his country is solely on his shoulders. There was much to do and many things he would like to change, but even as king, these little ideas - as his father likes to call them - had to go through the council.

And Jimin knows that the old hags would never approve of it.

It went beyond the revised edition of the old laws.

To reconcile with the nymphs.

Jiminhad ventured into the forest today, going around with no direction, guided purely by an inexplicable force. The kingdom, although a realm of enchantment, was deeply tainted by the darkness of its past. If all was silent enough, one could still hear the shrieks and cries of the souls. The darkness had bred a strong sense of hatred and fear between faes and nymphs. Their mating was now an old tale of forbidden love - a story buried deep in history.

As he ventured further into the woods, he stumbled upon the nymph, your frail form half-buried in the snow. Your beauty, even in your weak state, took the breath right out of his lungs. He recognized you as a nymph with your small frame and pale, white hair. But it wasn’t completely white. It shone like the silvers of the moonlight when light reflected off it.

But it was when he moved to pick you up that he saw your family’s sigil, now faded from royal to common, that told him - you were no ordinary nymph. As his arms went under the ice, you stirred slightly at the movement. As you opened her eyes, he was completely taken aback by the sheer blue shade of your pupils.

Even with one foot into the Underworld, you looked ethereal to him. Jimin was snapped out of his daze when your frostbitten lips whispered a plea for help. In that moment, all history and hatred were forgotten. With fae swiftness, he scooped your fragile state - lighter than air - into his arms and covered you with his coat.

Determined to save her, he summoned a warm breeze that melted the frost from your body and sealed you in a cocoon of warmth. Jimin only dared to start running faster to his horse when colour slowly came back to your lips. Ensuring that you were safely tucked in his arms, Jimin ran back to the castle, fighting against death who wanted to take the girl in his arms.

As days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months. The little nymph’s life continued to hang in the balance and Jimin was a mess. He made every doctor attend to you, pacing around the bedroom day and night. He had caused an uproar in the kingdom when they found out that their crown prince had brought back a nymph - even more than this one that was from the late royal family - and was nursing her back to health.

His father had threatened to strip him of his title if he did not abandon you. But he could not do it. So it started the feud between father and son, neither backing down. Jimin understood that his late grandfather and his father had a feud among the nymphs, had been the ones who executed them and had been the ones to fight at the front lines. They were the ones who brought Lyrin to what it is today - expanded. But as Jimin studied the history of both parties, he felt a certain connection to the nymphs.

He did not want to be a ruler where their mystical counterparts would be afraid of them. He did not want to be a ruler like his father - ruling by fear from an iron fist.

While doctors attended to you, Jimin watched them with sharp eyes, ensuring that none of the doctors would slip anything into your bloodstream. When nothing helped and your state was only getting worse, Jimin grew more and more anxious. He had sifted through books and hunted down the Old Scripts.

He learned that your name was L/N Y/N, the youngest of the last ruling family. Your father had been killed in the war, your mother led you and your siblings to safety but soon after passed due to the broken mate bond. Your siblings were either caught by his father’s cavalry or died of starvation, leaving only you. Your records were still in the kingdom, seemingly down till two days before he met you. That means that you were active in your own kingdom, at your people’s mercy until you left.

He looked back at where you lay still on the bed.

And if he didn’t find you, you would have probably been dead by now.

Breaking Bonds | PJM | Chapter 1

You woke up to the warmth and luxury of a place you had only dreamed of. Your body was still weak and you didn’t know what happened after passing out. Slowly rising to consciousness, you found yourself in a room of blue and white, drapes swinging in the wind. But you registered that the windows weren’t open and the room was cold like… ice?

Winter may be the season but no room was made to stay cold unless the elements of the magicians’ are meant to stay cold.

Like you.

You curled your fingertips, feeling the soft, silky sheets beneath them. Trying to view the room from your current position - lying flat on the bed with a head that feels as heavy as bricks - you were taken aback by the sheer language it screams.

Royalty.

From the materials beneath your body to the furniture displayed, the decorations and architecture of the room, they were all beyond your imagination. You had not stepped into such a room since the battle. As you looked around, you realised the room was not originally made to stay cold. The fireplace seemed to be covered in a layer of dust but the decorations on them were clean.

And although you knew that this was not your room, the calming temperature felt just like home. But you had not been in a room like this for a very long time. Distantly, you heard the opening and closing of a door. Your eyes immediately shot in the direction of the sound just to find a man already standing beside the bed.

You were immediately broken out of your thoughts when you realised who it was and where exactly you were. You did not need to open the windows to know - you were on enemy territory. The rulers who killed your family. The rulers who brought demise onto your people.

But looking at the man, clad in a loose tunic and pants, dark brown hair ruffled in all directions, you couldn’t find yourself to hate him. Even as you knew that he shared the purest blood with the murderer, you knew that he… was just like you.

A family’s misdoings do not mean a child’s downfall.

One’s choice does not equal the choice of another.

You sink deeper into the sheets, holding in your sigh as you close your eyes.

“Oh!” Your eyes shot open to see the man right in front of you. “Oh, you’re awake! Oh, finally! Wait - wait - let me call the physicians!”

Your brain couldn’t register his words fast enough before you saw his body move so fast it was just a blurry shade running down the stairs. Or maybe it was just your vision that was a little crusty. Rubbing your eyes as you yawned, you got up from the bed. You wouldn’t like to overstay your stay, especially not in a place where your head was on a bounty.

You had left your kingdom only to be stuck in another.

Sighing, you looked down to your feet -

Your arms shot to cover your already clothed body. Wait, wait, wait -

Your hands patted yourself down. You -

You were changed.

Your plan to secretly escape was a fail the moment your ears picked up the sound of multiple heavy footsteps coming towards the room. The large doors were banged open, revealing a line of physicians behind the prince.

“There! There! I told you, she is awake!”

Squinting at the all-to-cheerful sound that the prince makes, the palm of your hands pressed against your ears.

“Careful, Prince. The Lady just woke up, her senses will be sensitive. You must lower your volume, Prince.”

Sheepish eyes shot at you, a guilty smile lifting the corners of his lips. The physicians fussed you back to bed and ran a thorough check of you, reporting back to the prince whenever they found something. Whether it was something healing or something that needs healing. Over the next few weeks, you realise how persistent and petty the prince can get.

He would refuse you bites of food if you were to call him by his royal title. He would refuse to help you up from bed, just standing at the corner of the bedpost when you need the restroom, always claiming, “If you aren’t going to help yourself, you don’t get to do your business.”

But you also realise how much he has gone through. As the only child, he was meant to take the throne a couple of weeks before he found you. But he had caused a huge uprising and a big fight with his father. When you were sneaking out one of the nights, Jimin found you during his nightly duties of patrol and whisked you back to the room.

Although you had left with the intention of Jimin’s life getting back to normal, he has increased your security so that you won’t have much of a chance to run away again.

Keyword: much.

You still had your chances and when that came, you took it. You had everything packed and ready, but this time, you left with a note at the bedside table, paired together with a magic-infused healing charm for the man.

Safe to say, it was a bad idea.

You knew it was the moment you penned down your goodbyes and gave him the charm. But you didn’t have much on you to give him for thanks other than the occasional swirls of magic in his office.

Yes, it was a horrible idea - of course it was! You were caught - again.

This time, Jimin didn’t just leave you back in the room. He was silent the whole time after he found you. The ride back, up the stairs, and even after the both of you entered the room. You saw the note on the bed.

Jimin’s back was to you.

“Why - Why would you think that?”

You were taken aback by the tears that streamed down his plum cheeks that you had teasingly squished the past few weeks. Looking down at the note, you felt a pang of… sorrow.

A sorrow that wasn’t yours. It shouldn’t be. “Because it is against the laws.”

“I do not care what the laws claim!”

“I am nobody, Prince. You have a duty to serve your kingdom and its people. I am a princess, stripped of my title, belonging to the very kingdom your father and his father killed through. The very princess that they couldn’t care less before killing off my father on the battlefield.” He couldn’t be yours. He was a prince, deserving of one better than a bond that was looked down upon.

“My ancestors can go suck their dicks.”

You pulled a face at the crude language. You knew that he would be insisting - you found out that much about him - and you prepared yourself for a situation like this. But your resolve was already crumbling.

“Prince -”

“Stop, stop! I am yours! Please - I beg of you - stop calling me by my title.”

You sucked in a deep breath. “You are more than your titles. But you are also the light of your people. The only heir to the throne and you will not shove it away just because we are bonded. I refuse.”

“I will lay the world down on your feet for you, please. Do not leave me.” His cries hurt you more than knives and ropes splitting your skin raw.

“My world is not one you can provide.”

My world is you.

But you wouldn’t dare say that as you turned your back to him and walked out of the castle, following your original plan in mind.

So What? | MYG | Chapter11

By the time the hearing was over, it was past dinner time and everybody was exhausted. You were more than ready to go home and crash in bed, dreaming that this never did happen. You knew you needed to talk to Yoongi soon - preferably before the verdict, was Jimin’s answer to you when you finally confronted him head-on with the matter.

You looked over to see Yoongi yawning and nodding to something Joon said to him. You’ll have that talk tomorrow. Tonight, the two of you will just cuddle in bed for some well-deserved sleep.

“Remember the talk, Y/N.” Jimin reminded you as he dropped you and Yoongi off. “Don’t drag it on for too long.” He turned to Yoongi. “You were great today, man. See you on Thursday. Goodnight!”

The both of you waved Jimin off before entering your apartment building.

“What was Jimin saying just now?” Yoongi asked.

“Oh, nothing. We’ll sleep first. Today took out everybody’s brain cells already and we need them at full capacity if we want to talk tomorrow.” You reassured Yoongi. “It’s nothing serious.”

Except it was everything but not serious.

So What? | MYG | Chapter11

You got out of bed early in the morning, brain lagging from the lack of sleep. But you truly couldn’t sleep. Not when the possibility of everything going bad today was already a good reason. You were afraid to bring up the topic to talk to Yoongi. You had figured that he knew and didn’t want to tell you so you had given him some space and time but you were getting impatient.

Although, you did not fully understand the weight of mateship but you understand being true to oneself. And that was what you were going to do today. You were going to approach - not sure how, but you were going to do it - and have this talk before tomorrow. You wanted to clear the air before the verdict hearing in case of anything.

You knew that the possibility of Yoongi being a free hybrid after tomorrow was extremely high and at the same time, you wanted to see his point of view on the matter so that you could act accordingly during the hearing. You didn’t want to cause a scene when there was no need for one.

Whipping up a simple breakfast, you set the table in time when Yoongi came out of his bedroom, yawning.

“Smells good.” He plopped down on the chair.

Yesterday drained the both of you and you wanted some space and time to think alone so you chased Yoongi to his own room.

As you sat down, Yoongi was quick to pull you to his lap and buried his head in your neck. You let him be and started eating, occasionally sneaking him some bites from your own plate before bringing his plate over to feed him. You treasured the calmness of the current time, knowing that it would not last for long.

After breakfast, the both of you called in a lazy day, taking the blankets off the beds and cuddling in front of the television. You knew that you should start to talk before lunchtime so that if anything happens, you hope that you will have time to cool down.

You had truly hoped nothing would go worse than your imagination had taken you last night but it seems that your predicament was more than wrong, leaving you in the current situation. The both of you were fighting and screaming at each other, both sides trying to calm down but are as stubborn as mules.

“No, you don’t understand. It is not something to take lightly. A mateship is for a lifetime. It bonds the souls. You don’t understand that it is not something that can just be tossed around like that.”

“I am not tossing - if we are using your words - the title around. I am asking you why you wouldn’t tell me that I am your mate.” You tried breathing slowly. You didn’t want to get worked up in this situation where the air is already deadly. “I’ve waited! I’ve found out and waited for you patiently - that maybe you were not comfortable enough to tell me. But I’ve waited, Yoongi!

Yoongi kept silent.

“Why, Yoongi?” You started growing frustrated. You wanted - needed - an answer from him. Even if it is not an answer you want to hear, you still need an answer. You needed closure if this was not what he wanted.

You knew you weren’t the easiest to come around and you also knew Yoongi is stubborn. He always says that you deserve better - a better hybrid, a better life, a better everything. The both of you are hardheads, never backing down from a fight.

“I am asking you, why? I need an answer, Yoongi. This is not fair to me.” You pulled at your roots. You did not like confrontation and all you wanted to do was hide in the room right now. But you knew that this was a long overdue talk.

“Well, why do you think I never told you all these months then?” Yoongi suddenly turned to face you. “Why do you think I kept silent even when I found out? Why do you think I kept silent when I knew you found out?”

You didn’t want to say it. You truly hoped you were wrong - hoped that your intuition was just fooling you and he would say something else.

“Huh, why?” He screamed.

You flinched.

Oh, you have never heard Yoongi scream. You have never seen him so distressed and worked up. Half of you wanted to go over and comfort him but you stood your ground - stubborn as he is.

“Why?” You questioned. Your voice sounded meek even to your ears.

“You want me to say it? You want to hear it?” Yoongi’s hands were pulling at his hair. “Fine! I’ll say it for you, spell it out for you so accurately you will never think you misheard!” Yoongi yelled, ears flat against his head and tail swishing sharply behind his back. “Because I don’t want you! I. DO. NOT. WANT. YOU. AS. MY. MATE!” Yoongi roared. “Is that clear enough for you?”

It was silence after that revelation. You looked at Yoongi - really took a good look at the fuming male hybrid standing in the middle of the living room. His chest rose up and down in frantic motion, trying to regain his breath. You bored your eyes into his, finding the truth in there. A tear streaked down the side of his eyes and he used the back of his hand to wipe it away.

As you move forward, he moves backwards. Yoongi suddenly turned around snatched his collar off the hook and half-stepped into his shoes. “I’m leaving.” was all he said before slamming the door straight in your face.

You sucked in a deep breath. And another. And another. Until you felt like your walls were constraining, you raised a hand to beat the sofa. When that wasn’t enough, you screamed your lungs out, throat burning - but right now, who the fuck cares? It wasn’t until you lifted a hand to throw the key bowl did you stop and look around.

The dish where you put all your keys - or key-bowl, as you liked to call it - was made by Yoongi a few weeks ago when the both of you went to a pottery class. He gave it to you saying that you wouldn’t lose your keys as easily if they’re all in one spot. So no matter how much you wanted to smash it, you just couldn’t bring your heart to do it.

And you looked around. The whole house was filled with memories of you and him. Before him, it was just a shelter to you. A place where it can shield you from the harsh weather and the noise of the outside world. You were drowning in the world of an endless abyss that you didn’t know how to get out of. Until Yoongi came along. The ferocious, characteristic cat that you thought was just as it is. Your house started to feel a bit warmer - that you had someone to come home to.

And then the silence shattered once again when you found him so sick on your bed, bringing him to a vet only to realise he was definitely not what you thought he was. Slowly but surely, Yoongi opened up to you. Sure, both of you had ups and downs, but isn’t that normal for every relationship? The both of you grew with each other - or at least you thought so.

Now - now you were no longer sure who you were to and what you were to him. Standing in the middle of the living room where he stood just spare a few minutes ago, made your heart constrict so tightly you thought it was going to burst.

“I need to get out of here.” You muttered to yourself. “Leave, leave.” At this point in time, you couldn’t be bothered by the mess your house is currently in. “Keys, keys. Where are my keys?” You started to grow frantic. “Keys so I can leave. Leave, leave.”

You found your keys and yanked your jacket off the ottoman, shutting the doors behind you. If you were sober, you would have called Jin to pick you up. But you were anything but sober. Sober in the sense of alcohol, certainly not sober in the sense of emotions.

You turned on your car and drove it out of the parking lot below your apartment building, towards the direction of Seokjin’s house. Normally, Yoongi would play some music but this time, only your heavy breaths kept you company as you fought to stay calm.

Taking no less than 10 minutes to reach Seokjin’s complex, you parked your car and headed up to his house. You needed your brother and you couldn’t be bothered if he was sleeping, in the shower, or working. You needed him here, you needed him to keep you grounded with those stupid dad jokes he always makes.

You would have called Lils if she wasn’t halfway across the world visiting her relatives. You punched in the passcode to his house and entered, quickly shedding your shoes and coat. You looked up in time to see Seokjin coming out of his kitchen, a chopstick in hand and a mouth full of rice, saying, “I gave you the code not so that you can just barge in here like nobody’s business. Might I remind you that this house is still under my name, which means my rules -”

You slam your body into your brother’s, arms going around his waist as you bury your head in his chest. Realising that there’s more to what meets the eyes, Seokjin wrapped his arms around you, easily lifting you up and bringing the both of you to the couch.

“Hey, hey, what’s wrong?” He cooed, placing down his chopsticks and wiping your tears. You couldn’t answer him. You didn’t want to answer him - ‘cause if you did, it would be real.

Seokjin, sensing your discontent, sighed. He didn’t pry any longer, deciding just to let you cry it out. You were a sensitive soul, he knew. As much as you tried to prove to everybody that you grew out of it, he knew you best - and knew that you were just getting better at hiding your pain now. He wishes that you would open up more to him but you were big now and he knew that. He knew that some things needed to be learned through experiences.

So he keeps an eye out for you but does not linger too long. He saw the way you and Yoongi act together, he saw the way you looked at him on the witness stand yesterday afternoon. He had asked Jimin what he meant by ‘the talk’ and bribed him into giving him a piece of information. He didn’t know how crucial that was until you came in bursting into tears.

You had gotten attached.

But he wasn’t blind. He knew that your hybrid was attached as well. So why did it turn out like this? Why did he have to break your heart and not admit it? Seokjin didn’t want to pry too much, but he really wanted to understand. Exactly what happened?

“Come on, let’s get you washed up and into bed.” Seokjin sighed. He carried you to the bathroom, filling up the bathtub with warm water and put in a bath bomb and some salts. “I’ll be waiting outside for you once you’re done. Don’t take too long.” He left a set of clothes on the counter for you. He had saved some of your clothes with him for when you wanted sleepovers. Better than wearing his clothes.

Seokjin scrunched his nose.

Yeah.

Nope.

Breaking Bonds | PJM | Chapter 3

As the news of Jimin and your bond spread through his kingdom like wildfire, there was a clear separation between the young and the old. The old refuse to change the Old Ways, stating that faes and nymphs should forever be a forbidden bond. Nymphs have betrayed them since the times even before the war and should never be forgiven for their crimes.

On the other hand, the young wish for a change - a change between the two mystical beings, to bring balance back to their continent. Nymphs should be given a second chance, a viewpoint much different from the Old Ways.

However, the King and council is the one to make the last decision. And currently, both did not agree. The king was furious - that his son would choose one much below him.

“You - You - A choice of any other nymph - figuratively speaking - yet you choose the Princess of the nymph kingdom! The princess that had her title stripped from her and her kingdom uses her!” King Park yelled at Jimin from across the room. The table was long and council members sat around the King and the Prince.

Everyone’s heads were bowed at the anger that radiated off the king. Red in the face, his hands moved widely across the tables and the air. The council members did not dare to watch the scene in front of them. But Jimin wasn’t afraid. He knew what would happen if he went against his father but -

“It was an unnecessary action when you stripped the nymphs of their royal titles. Their people were having a hard time, their people were struggling!” Jimin pointed out. “Their only hope was placed in their royalties to lead them back up to a normal life but you flippantly marched in and took away every single ounce of hope they had. You beheaded the king,” Jimin couldn’t hold his anger in anymore. “Right in front of the citizens.”

“He begged you - Begged you!”

“You do not know what went down, boy.” One of the council members brought up.

“I do not know? I do not know?” Jimin swirled over to the member, hands fisted by his side. He would only make things worse if he acted out with violence. “I was there when you all decided to bring up this ridiculous plan. I was there when you,” Jimin pointed to his father. “When the King begged you to take him instead of his people. To spare his people!”

“His mate is dead, his children are dead, and his only surviving daughter is used by her own people because they had their hope and life stripped away when you marched in.”

“It was necessary! It was a precaution that we needed to take or they would come back to take all the lands back.”

“It wasn’t ours to begin with!”

The murmurs of the council hushed instantly when Jimin shouted.

But it was true. Those invaded lands did not belong to the kingdom of Lyrin. Their territory belonged to the kingdom of Petra, the nymphs. Petra, the name explains itself - unshakable and resilient. The nymphs are small beings and for them to have fought so far with faes that are much bigger and stronger in size and strength, is a miracle itself.

“Those lands were never ours. Not even in the earliest books of history or even in folklore that we tell kids during bedtime stories. They were not some forgotten land that you claim to be ours. They never belonged to us.” Jimin pointed to one of the areas on the map. “Don’t you see? They are withering - dying. Because they do not hold the same type of magic we do. We cannot care for them the way the nymphs do. And for so long, you have stripped them of their respective bonds just because you want more land.”

“What did you even do with them anyway?” Jimin spread his hands out. “They are all untouchable because we cannot cross.”

“Do you not see what you are doing? Has power made you blind, father?”

The king swung his hand out and everybody ducked from the spear of power that shot out.

“You will not question me, Prince.”

“I will do as I wish.” Jimin stood his ground. The council room was silent as they watched their king and prince go through a territorial battle. The stiff air and rising temperature said enough of the fight. Every councillor was sweating in their seats. Until Jimin walked out of the room, hands behind his back and head held up high with his robes swishing behind him as he left the door open.

A clear indication that the fight is not over.

Leaving the frightened councillors with a furious king who bellowed in anger.

But what Jimin did not know was that that was exactly part of the councillor’s plans. Without the knowledge of others, the older members had drawn out a plan, indicating when and where would be the best place and time to separate the bond.

Breaking Bonds | PJM | Chapter 3

Jimin knew that the court’s disdain for their connection was palpable - that the older councillors do not and will probably never approve of Y/N. The tension had reached a level that even his father’s power was at stake. Half refusing to de-throne him and the other half not executing you. But Jimin felt relieved.

He had stated what he thought - stated what he felt was right.

It was a first.

But he was not executed. Yet.

The moment that Jimin stepped into the main door of his quarters, he felt something was not right. He noted that no guards were patrolling and the surrounding was much too quiet. Shoeprints and trails of dragging were across the sand as Jimin trotted through the grounds.

Something was wrong. He knew it.

Coming down from his horse, Jimin hurriedly ran up the steps to the bedroom, opening all other rooms in the process. With each step he takes, he feels his heart clenching even more. Calling your name out frantically, he searched around for you.

Reaching the top, Jimin didn’t take the time to catch his breath before pistoning to the doors - only to find them open, lock battered, and a blood-stained floor. Jimin’s nose sniffed around, registering that it was not yours. For a moment, he felt the weight lift off his shoulder that you were alive until he opened the doors and his heart dropped.

The bedside table was overturned, sheets pulled off the edges and quilt on the floor. The rug was folded at its corners and when he touched the bed frames, he could feel the indents of your fingernails. Your fear was palpable in the air, penetrating every single one of his logical senses. He spotted icicles and snow bombs as if he had tried to fight back. But you were still recovering and your powers were on a low scale. Even he hasn’t seen them often.

A groan coming from the balcony caught his attention as he called forth his power and ripped open the curtains that were swaying in the wind. Just as he was about to burn the man from his inside out, a painful “Your Highness” broke him out of it. Slowly registering that it was one of the guards who had taken care of him since young, he brought his hands down.

Crouching down to the man’s level, Jimin lifted him by the shoulder. The man groaned in pain as Jimin shifted him over to the couches of the room. Blood leaked through but he could always replace them later on.

“Don’t worry ‘bout me, boy.” The guard groaned out. “Go save your mate. I have already seen the best.” Jimin crouched back down. “Go, boy. This old soul is happy to see you happy.” Bowing, the guard continued. “They brought her to an unmarked area a little past the borders of Lyrin based on the Southeast. That’s all I heard.”

Jimin nodded and bowed to him.

Taking off, Jimin ran back down the steps, guiding his horse into a gallop and then a full sprint. He had to get you. He had to.

Curse the council. Curse his father. None of it was worth it if you weren’t there.

He hoped that he could reach in time.

He needs to reach in time.

He led his horse in the direction, sweat dripping down his neck and back, soaking his tunic but Jimin did not dare stop. He feared that if he stopped for even a second, you might be gone.

“Prince!”

Jimin ignored the call. He had to get to you fast and that was his purpose. His reason. He would not fail you again.

“Prince!”

He saw a black-haired mare run alongside his, rider steady on top of his saddle.

“Prince! You can’t go in there alone!”

Jimin turned and growled at his knight. “Try me.” Urging his horse faster but his knight kept steady behind him.

“Prince! Please! Think about it! It is irrational to go in without a plan - no exact location, no communications, nothing!”

“She is my mate - prince or not. You will not question how I will do.”

“Then allow us to offer ourselves.”

Jimin faltered.

“It is dangerous to go in there alone. Let us go with you, Prince.”

“You are disobeying your King and saving a nymph in the laws is treason.”

Jimin stopped his horse to run an eye over the group that had formed. He did not even realise how many people had followed behind him. Eternally grateful but Jimin knew the consequences ahead of them if they were to join him any further.

“Prince, we believe that it is time for a change. Time for the Old Ways to make way for the new and give back to nature what was never ours. We hope for peace between the kingdoms and a world where we no longer have to worry about being sent off to the woods to collect the dead bodies of the innocent. War is inevitable. But this one is.”

One by one, the people bowed.

“We pledge our loyalty to our Crown Prince, for we believe the right road is in the light of his eyes and the love of his heart.” The people rose and an elder, a nymph - Jimin realised - came forward.

“No more hiding for us. We put our faith in you, Prince. It is time for a change.”

“Time for a change, time for a change.” The people chanted.

If they were to rebel, his father would have them murdered. Jimin looked towards the darkness that was spreading through the forest. He does not have much time left if he wants to save you before even his vision fails him. But these people who have placed their heads on the boards just to follow him - to pledge their loyalty to him -

“No, you will not rebel. My father would have you all killed if you did.” Jimin mounted his horse. “For now, I have someone I care for who needs me. Those who wish to follow shall do so. The elders, children, and those who do not wish to witness the violence, mount your horses and return to the capital. I will ensure - even if it is to my death - that the Act will pass.”

Jimin surged, his horse riding forward.

He now knows that the people wish for a change. Even the elders who have been through the whole war - fought in the war. Jimin could only hope that he does not bring their hopes down by being unable to fulfil is section of their deal.

“Prince, how much farther due Southeast?”

“I am not sure. All Pletos told me was that they are Southeast, a little past the borders.”

“Well, Prince, we are almost at the borders. Would you wish to scout before we enter?

“Yes.”

Just then, the small cottage that was illuminated came into view. Squinting through the darkness, he tried to find your form, nose up as he tried to follow your scent. Only for him to see you tied up against a pole, wearing nothing but your underclothes and sleeping dress. Bruises littered your skin and Jimin fought the urge to sprint over.

“Oh shit.”

He could see the shocked faces of the people.

“Princess -”

“Helia no -” The knights grabbed the boy. “The girl will be fine but you cannot dash in like this.” The boy in their hold stopped fighting and Jimin looked at him. He was not much of a boy - more of a man. Slender but muscular and very familiar somehow.

“Prince, what is our strategy?”

Jimin looked around and focused on his senses. He could hear the arguing of the council members, the flow of the river, the chirping of the crickets, and the sound of your slow breathing. “The council members are currently distracted and all the guards leave an opening of five minutes as they do their rotations. We go in then.” Jimin turned around. “Just three of us will enter, too many and we will be caught.”

“Once we are back, we run east, there is a cave there that we can use to rest for the night. Our main goal is to get the princess and leave. Do not take anything, do anything, say anything. It will only alert the guards and the members. We want to be out of there as quickly as possible.”

Nods followed Jimin’s command and they waited for the next opening. Jimin hopes that you will be able to handle it long enough.

Time for a change.

Stay strong, we are here.

Just as the opening reaches in, Jimin pulls Helia and another knight along with him, motioning them to quietly follow. As the clock started to tick, the three of them worked quickly, blades slashing at the ropes that kept you up as Jimin caught your limp body. With a nod, they ran back to the group, mounted their horses, and dashed. Jimin kept one ear towards the cottage as they ran, staying long enough to hear, “Where did the girl go? I told you to keep an eye on her and bring more guards!”

Council Member Lydea.

She’s dead meat.

Wrapping his clock around your body, Jimin summoned some heat as he tried to warm you up. He does not know how long you have been there but -

A whine and sharp neigh caught his attention as he pulled his horse into a stop.

“What happened?”

“His horse lost a shoe, she can continue but not at the pace we are currently going at, Your Highness.”

“That’s alright. We have made it far enough from the cottage. We will not lose anybody tonight. The cave is near, we will just walk.”

The group continued in silence as Jimin led them. Crossing the bridge, he walked behind the stone path of the waterfall. Taking a few more turns, Jimin stopped at the bottom of the stairs, dismounted his horse and walked him over to the makeshift stable.

“It should be safe here. The horses can lie around and there are bedrolls upstairs and in a box somewhere.”

The group murmured their gratitude.

“We got some leftover bread that we snatched from home on the way over. It should suffice for now.” A few knights looked at each other and nodded. “We will hunt in the morning.”

As Jimin set you down on his bedroll, ensuring that you were well tucked in and warm, he followed Helia up the steps to distribute the rest.

“How did you find this place, Your Highness?”

“I liked to venture out of the castle walls too often. I came across this place and thought that it felt… peaceful. So I shoved plenty of things here over the years. I hope you find it to your liking, Prince.”

The man stopped dead in his tracks.

“Prince, Your Highness? You flatter me too much but I have no hold on that title.”

“I do not believe that I have mistaken, Prince Helia of Petra. The people only knew that she was a nymph, not a nymph princess.”

“Word can get out fast, Your Highness.”

“For certain? Perhaps you shouldn’t say it with such a straight face as you bear the sigil of your kingdom.” Jimin saw his fingers twitch towards the band he wore around his wrist. He had his suspicions and they were only further verified when they worked together to get you off the pole.

“Right… A pleasure to meet you, brother-in-law. I just hoped that it would have been under better circumstances.” Helia leaves him on top of the stairs.

Jimin sighed and collected the remaining bedrolls, giving them out.

“It’s not much but I hope they last enough for the night.”

“No worries, Prince. I think it’s best if you focus on your mate.”

Jimin nodded to the man, leaving him to talk with the rest of the others about scheduling rounds to guard the place.

Slipping into the bedroll, Jimin huddled you close, falling asleep to your soft sighs.

Breaking Bonds | PJM | Chapter 3

The hunt was not successful.

The men were not able to bring much back and rations were small but no one minded. Hitting midday, everybody was well-rested enough and mounted their horses. With Jimin leading, everybody followed him as they trotted back to the city.

“Those who directly work with my family will follow me back to the palace. The rest of you, go home to your families and get a rest. The plan starts tomorrow. I hope to see all of you in the square in two days.”

Their ways separated before the walls of the kingdom, horses going in the directions their riders urge. Cradling your back, Jimin urges his horse at a faster pace. The guards and knights easily kept up with him.

As soon as they entered the palace, Jimin headed over to his tower.

“We need to act fast, holding off for a bath wouldn’t -”

“You are in your nightgown and we smell like mud, darling. I do not think my father would like it if we drip all over his precious rug.” Those mischievous eyes turned to you. “Plus, who said that bathing means relaxing? We could use the time to discuss our next best move. Or it would do well for an exercise as well.”

“No.”

You hastily dismounted his horse as you sprinted up the stairs, playing a game of catch. And Jimin knew that.

So he let you have your head start as he slowly walked up. Just as you closed the door and thought that it was safe, you didn’t realise that Jimin was already inside before you were.

“Gotcha.”

You squealed as he tickled your sides, freezing up the spot you stood on. Carrying you to the bathroom, Jimin filled up the tub with warm water and bubbles.

Morning came too soon as the days passed.

Standing in the middle of the stage, head held high, Jimin started his speech. He wanted the people - his people - to know that not all hope of the past was lost. Connections will most certainly be hard at first and change is difficult. But if there was no change, there would be no future with the constant battles. Condemning the nymphs to their fates will only harm the land and completely throw off the balance.

“The reign of fear is over. The reign of pain and waiting is over. We will do something, we will stop this war.” Jimin’s voice rang loud in the clearing. “Change isn’t easy, I understand. But hope and determination can drive us further and override these feelings. They are by no means irrelevant. Everything you feel is normal. But change is a necessity if we want to live. Life and survival are different. If we wish to live, we first need to ensure that we can survive.” Jimin splayed his hands out in the direction of what was once your kingdom and home. “And we cannot survive without the equal balance.”

Galloping and shouts could be heard as he spotted his father’s horse coming closer. Stomping off his horse, Jimin stood his ground as his father fumed in front of him. Not much taller than his father, Jimin felt the need to straighten his back and stand to his full height.

“This little rebelling has gone far enough! Return!” His father signalled his guards to bring forth the terror.

Jimin summoned a portion of his powers out, creating a barrier around the people.

“No father. The people - our people - people have spoken. They want a change and it starts today. No more forceful taking, no more harming the innocent. We rule with loyalty, not fear.”

“You will never understand. People will only listen if they feel -”

“No. It stops today. No more. People of Lyrin,” Jimin turned to face the crowd, voice projecting loudly. “Today we stop this war. Our past, present, and future - our peace - depends on us. No more separation of families, no more hiding from one’s true self. We were one and we will be one - faes and nymphs. For peace, do you follow?”

“For peace, we follow! For peace, we follow!”

Jimin turned to you, hands raised up as he smiled towards you. Even with the setting sun shining directly at him, you were the brightest sun he had and he could gratefully bask in there for however long you allowed him to.

He does not wish to waste a single second if he ever could.

For peace, we follow.

So What? | MYG | Chapter8

A pounding headache, aching limbs, and stiff neck were not how you hoped to wake up. It felt like you drank five cans of beer and downed the whole rainbow shot. You groaned, pulling yourself into a sitting position at the head of the bed. All you remember was getting really sick and blacking out many times. Your fevers had a way of spiking and scaring even yourself.

You sighed and looked around your room. At least it was neat. Seokjin must have cleaned it while you were bedridden. You took the thermometer across your bed and measured your temperature.

36.8°C.

Exactly how long were you out of it? You got out of bed and headed over to the washroom to clean up. You felt like shit and you needed all the accumulated sweat to be scrubbed off your body. Seokjin wouldn’t have bathed you, you rolled your eyes. You had to get something for your brother to thank him for coming over. Working extra hours isn’t going to cut it - mainly cause you don’t want to work those extra hours. You’d rather be home snuggled up and lazing about.

You sloshed around the water on the floor of the shower room and lathered your shampoo, figuring it would be best to not take too long to shower. You just got better - at least you hoped - and you weren’t about to get sick from the cold just because you wanted to soak.

Quickly drying yourself with a towel, you headed over to the connecting wardrobe, pulling on some comfy clothes and doing your skincare routine. You weren’t a girl who puts on makeup at home but you knew a thing or two about taking care of your skin.

As you rubbed in your moisturiser and walked out of your room, you spotted many things at once. Hoseok was sleeping with his legs up in the air on your sofa and it seemed that Yoongi’s doctors were here as well, and Seokjin was teaching an unknown voice something in the kitchen. You cautiously walked to the kitchen and saw both of them wearing aprons, a random male was busy on the chopping board while Seokjin was busy stirring some stew and giving him instructions at the same time.

You walked into the kitchen and headed straight for the medicine cabinet. “Well, isn’t this a sight to see?”

Both males whipped their heads towards you.

“I didn’t realise you were up already. I’m sorry, I should’ve paid more attention.” The male held his head down, hands wringing themselves tangled in front of him.

It only now did you realise the tail in between his legs and the two fluffy ears pressed down against his jet-black hair.

You paused, hands automatically moving to his hair. “Yoongi?” You breathed out. You were so out of it when you fell ill you that all you saw were his eyes. You didn’t even take a good look at your hybrid you had forgotten what he looked like. Or perhaps you were having some memory loss.

His head shot up so quickly that his ears got squashed against your hands that couldn’t retract fast enough. Seokjin was just watching this whole scene with that stupid smile on his face.

“What?”

Jin shook his head, turning back to the stew. “I told you she’ll remember you. It’s not like she has never seen you in human form before.” Jin continuously stirred the stew and pointed to the chopping board. “Faster, get those chopped or the soup is going to burn.”

Jin left the ladle in a bowl half filled with water and went over to you, hands immediately touching your forehead. “You seem fine. You can pop the panadol down, it’ll do you some good in relieving the headaches.” He pointedly looked down at you. “Not too many.”

You nodded.

As you watch the boys in the kitchen move about fluidly, the doctors in your living room catch your attention. “Why are Yoongi’s doctors here?”

“I called them over once I couldn’t handle you anymore.” Jin turned around. “Exactly what have you been doing other than working recently? This round is one of your worst.”

You shrugged. “I just worked and went home, slept, ate, watched shows, do some hobbies. About there. I’m not too sure how I got so sick either.”

“No symptoms?”

You shook your head. “Too surprising. I had no idea.”

Jin turned back to the stove, putting the freshly cut mushrooms into the stew. “Y/N, go get some bowls. Yoongi, go wake the gang. Lunch’s ready.”

You gave Yoongi’s ears a scratch as he passed you and he nearly collapsed right there and then. He refused any ears scratched or pats from anybody during the time you were sick. Hybrids need the physical connection as well and they didn’t want him over-stressing and not having a way to rest. Even the two hybrids in the house gave him a choice to let them do it but he refused. It felt so good that a loud purr broke through that soon turned into a whine when your hands left his hair.

You giggled, walking away to grab what Seokjin needed.

“Please wash your hands after that. Don’t contaminate my food! Hair lice, you never know! I worked hard for it, you know?”

Lunch was served and the three sleepyheads trudged into the dining room. “Why, hello. Finally woke up?”

Hobi was the first to see you, immediately bolting over to your seat and engulfing you in a bone-crushing hug. You tapped his shoulder, warning him that you were going to die from the lack of oxygen if he didn’t let you up soon.

“Y/N! I didn’t hear you come out?” The sudden weight on Hobi had him confused.

“Nope, you were too deep asleep.” You snickered. “Legs in the air and everything.”

He scratched his bed hair and sheepishly answered, “Oops. Hehe.”

The Parks walked in, hair tangled and clothes dishevelled. “Good to see you’re awake, Ms. Y/N. It was hell the past few days.”

“You had better owe us some coffee.” Dr Ji-hyun yawned.

“For sure. There is a coffee machine in the house for a reason. Feel free to finish my beans.” You offered. “Although, I do have another guest room. Why did you not rest there?”

“Oh, we did. But it was easier access from the living room if anything happened.” It seems like Dr Park was too out of it and Dr Ji-Hyun was answering all the questions.

“Is…” You started. “Is Dr. Park okay?” You owe them more than coffee. If Jin was to be trusted and this is one of the worst fevers, then it would have been more than hell for the doctors. At a young age, your fevers have never done the doctors in the hospitals any good - always giving them a heart attack whenever your fever spikes.

Dr Ji-Hyun waved a hand. “Ah, he’s fine. Just came back a few hours ago after being called in for an emergency patient. He’s good, just tired.”

“I’m sorry.” You hung your head. You didn’t call in anybody else as you knew your brother was capable of handling your fevers. But if even he couldn’t handle it…

“Don’t be.” Dr Park answered. “It’s every doctor’s responsibility.” He smiled, eyes turning into crescent moons. “And, no need to be so formal. Just call me Jimin and my wife Hyun.”

Oh… They’re married?

“Oh. You’re married.” If you weren’t already so embarrassed, your mouth would have hung to the floor from the revealing truth.

“Yeah. Most of our clients don’t know. We don’t have a habit of putting it out there.” Jimin laughed.

Seokjin came in shouting “EXCUSE ME! HOT MAN COMING THROUGH!” before putting the pot of stew on the table, effectively ruining the mood.

“Hot man?” You blanched. “Steaming stew, yes. Hot man? No.”

Jin looked at you offended. “Hey! I’m your oppa, have some manners!”

You rolled your eyes.

So What? | MYG | Chapter8

Lunch was more than eventful.

You were kept up to date on what happened when you were halfway gone in your own world. From Hoseok telling you about Yoongi, to Yoongi retelling his story, and how they all link together. The conversation then gravitated towards exactly how out of it you were the past few days. Vomiting on Jin right after his bath, flirting with Yoongi till the cat was beet-red, and nearly yanking Jimin’s head off when he attempted to wipe you down.

It was your turn to be beet-red. Your cheeks flamed with embarrassment as you ducked your heads in your hands. Everybody was laughing their asses off - literally, after having Jimin fall off the chair with the force of his laughter, making everyone laugh even harder.

“I’m sorry… Gods, this is so embarrassing!” The group burst out laughing again. Glad that they find your misery funny. Even Yoongi was sporting a smile of his own.

The doorbell rang and the six of you turned your heads towards the door. It rang again. You got up from your seat and opened the door, revealing a dishevelled Lillianne standing there with bags and bags of groceries. Lils pushed past you and placed the grocery bags on the kitchen counter as you shut the door and walked in.

“Wanna tell me what’s up?”

Your best friend gave you a one-over before tackling you in a big bear hug. She is called a bear for a reason. Hugging is her sport.

“Seokjin won’t let me visit you until you have gotten out of bed.” She moaned her complaints to you.

“Yah, you are another problem I refuse to take care of! Obviously, I won’t let you in!” Seokjin yelled back.

“I don’t need you to let me in! I know the passcode, I can let myself in, thank you!” Lils rolled her eyes and stuck out her tongue at him.

This just made Seokjin competitive and the both of them started a catfight on who can let themselves into your house.

You left the bickering two in the dining room and headed back to the kitchen to see Yoongi dissecting the bags that Lils had brought over. “Let’s just put the things in the fridge and then return to lunch.”

Yoongi shook his head. “You can go. I’ll pack them up.”

You frowned. “I’ll pack with you then.”

Just as your hand reached to unpack the first bag, Yoongi’s hand shot out to stop you, holding your wrist in a tight hold. You were shocked at the speed and strength that was getting tighter and tighter - a warning. It wasn’t until you winced that Yoongi immediately let go, eyes filled with fear.

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Yoongi fell down to his knees. “I’m sorry - I didn’t mean to, I swear! I’m sorry!” Tears were welling up in his eyes, head bowed, and neck open as a sign of submission. Your cat was in hysterics while you were in shock.

You didn’t know what best to do in this situation other than to kneel down - which did not help his panic - and wrap your arms around him. “Yoongi, Yoongi. It’s okay. I’m not gonna scold you, it’s fine. Nothing hurts.” Your cat just cried even harder - really just wailing at this point. You sighed. “Yoongi, don’t cry. It’s fine. I’m okay.” You jutted your hands out. “See? I’m okay.”

Yoongi took your wrist in his hands, gentle as if you were made of glass, and licked the reddening part. You squealed, shocking him and he shuffled back even further.

“Yoongi-” The group came out, wondering what the commotion was.

“Oh, dear,” Jimin said. “Ah… Let’s all, go for a walk in the park. I’m craving some desserts. Let’s go buy some.”

“I got flour.” Lils didn’t get the hint.

Seokjin yanked her along. “Let’s go, Lils. The two need to handle this themselves.”

“Oh. Oh… Yeah, yeah. We’ll be back! With cakes and macaroons in tow!” She screamed from the main door.

It was only after you heard your door close did you slowly slid your way to Yoongi, who was curled up into a ball in the corner of your cabinets. His tail was slid around his waist and tucked in, ears flattened down onto his hair, and sobs wreaking his body.

You cautiously brought your hand to his shoulder, slowly moving up to caress his hair and finally moving to his ears. Yoongi did not move or stop you, with no signs of tensing. You took this as a sign to continue. Slowly in circular motions, you rubbed the base of his ears, moving to the tip and coming back down, paying attention to the little knots and groans that come out of him.

Yoongi’s sniffles subsided as he leaned his body weight into you against the cabinet, pushing his head into your hands. “More?” You giggled.

“Please…” Yoongi groaned.

Surrendering to his demand, you continued. Only when Yoongi was about to fall asleep on your stomach, did you stop. Yoongi whined. “Whyyy?”

As much as he was adorable and you just wanted to keep going, this wasn’t the point of why you started. “Yoongi, we gotta talk about what happened.”

Yoongi stiffened against your stomach, head curling into himself. “Don’t wanna.”

You sighed. “Yoongi, I will never understand what you’ve gone through, lest how you feel. So I won’t tell you what you should do and what you shouldn’t do. However, I will tell you that - no, I promise you that you are safe with me. I will do whatever I can, within my power, to make you feel safe. Feel safe, Yoongi. That’s home.”

The air was still for the next few moments until Yoongi moved and looked up at you from his position. “Home?” He asked, big brown chocolatey eyes sparkling with wonders. His ears twitched in anticipation.

You nodded. “There is a home here, shall you wish to stay.” You smiled at him.

Yoongi shot up, grabbing you into a tight hug, tail snaking over to grip your waist. He buried his head in your neck, sniffing you away.

“Yeah… Home sounds nice.” You could feel your shirt getting wetter beneath his face. But this time, you cried with him.

Yes, home sounds nice.
