I’m so happy they decided to lean into Chimney’s Korean heritage, because I feel like it’s been vastly overlooked despite it being so vital to his backstory.

I always felt it was odd he didn’t talk in Korean with his father when his father was talking Korean to him (I’m sure they had their reasons but it came across as them appealing to the English-speaking audience while still trying to engage that side of his character) but now he’s interacting with strangers in his first language at a Korean market!

The memorial for Kevin was a great way to once again lean into this culture while also creating a nice, uncliche way of bringing hism back (so ALL of Chim’s family could be involved with his wedding) and by weaving all these moments in they really highlighted this as a Chimney episode, further developing his character in such a beautiful, if at times heartbreaking, way

Tommy Kinard is an absolute icon. Using the age-old fake radio interference on the Chief of the LAFD?! No one else could. I need more.

I guess I’m in the minority that I do think buck was being sincere about trying to get tommy’s attention. For one he went out of his way to see him before he knew he and eddie had bonded, and I think he was so excited when he thought eddie was inviting him along to karaoke because he thought “great this is my chance to hang out with my crush again!”

Like eddie and tommy are friends, so he thinks great maybe he has an in, but then eddie’s so distracted by how great tommy is he doesn’t even get the chance to ask, and then even when they are all together he still can’t get either of their attentions and his double ended jealousy just boils over.

Because it’s not like he can just ask right? Tommy is a guy, he can’t just ask eddie to set them up/put in a good word. So he starts trying to orchestrate situations where he can get closer to this guy without having to come clean about why he wants to.

Buck coming out but not specifying his sexuality is so important to me. Like, I know they’ve confirmed he’s bi, but he’s not gonna 100% know that after the couple days it’s been since his revelation. His whole view of himself has changed, there’s no way he kissed Tommy and went yep I’m bi always have been always will be. The fact they showed this and had Buck say yeah, look I don’t know what I want BUT I know I want it with a guy is perfect, because he’s still working it out and often times I think queer arcs in tv are very much like here’s a character here’s their sexuality enjoy, but allowing Buck the chance to explore with Tommy without putting any labels/pressure on it is so refreshing and a lot more realistic.
