IDK if I'm ready to tackle SG Mailgatron just yet. However, an idea hit me in the head about SG Bumblebee getting that scar on his face.

I'd imagine SG Bumblebee as a kid being naïve despite being obedient. SG Optimus may be evil, but he wasn't just going to throw a child directly to the front lines with no combat experience, despite the many rumors he's heard throughout the halls. He knew SG Bumblebee would need to learn about the war, especially if he was going to be his successor, but he needed a good moment.

However, Bumblebee was too curious for his own good. He did follow the Autobots to a mission about rogue Decepticons and Bumblebee was unfortunately spotted by one of them. The Decepticon is in fight or flight mode and attacks Bumblebee by mistake, scaring his face and causing him to scream in pain. Optimus hears this and immediately goes to the source and kills the Decepticon with little to no hesitation. No taunting or gloating. They were immediately cut down. He turns and sees Bumblebee with tears and blood coming down his face, and Optimus grabs him and pulls him to his chest as the other Autobots come to his location.

"Do not let them see your weakness," Optimus practically orders, and Bumblebee does his best to hold back his tears.

SG Ratchet does patch up Bumblebee, but he and Optimus end up having a major argument about Bumblebee's safety. This was one of the causes of their many divorces and a possible permanent end to their relationship. But SG Optimus still hasn't had a conversation with Bumblebee, and the little boy is scared, hiding in the covers with his scarred face.

Optimus does end up confronting Bumblebee, and Bumblebee is fully prepared for the Prime to yell at him like he's done to his subordinates. But Optimus orders him to sit down. Bumblebee does as he's told and Optimus sits behind him, combing his hair and fixing it. Optimus goes on to explain that what he experienced was the brutality of war and the brutality of the Decepticons. He frames the Decepticons as monsters with no moral compass, going so far as to even attack children. They will take advantage of your weakness and use it against you.

"You are to be my successor," Optimus tells him as he makes two large cornrows in Bumblebee's hair, "But it is a position that needs to be earned. You are weak now. Train and you will become stronger. Train and you will become worthy. So that no one will harm you ever again, and so that you will be respected and feared by those not worthy to be in your presence."

Optimus finishes braiding Bumblebee's hair before kneeling down in front of him and removing the bandages to see his scarred face. "This is the mark of a true warrior."

Optimus rubs his thumb across the scar on his cheek. "You must where this with pride. It will become your strength, Bumblebee."

Optimus still sees the uncertainty and fear in the boy's eyes and he does something he didn't expect himself to do: he pulls the boy into a hug and gently strokes his head. "Be careful with whom you show your weakness to. Do you understand?"

"...It was scary," Bumblebee mutters.

"...I know," Optimus says, "But it gets easier with time."

Bumblebee starts going through vigorous training once he has fully recovered. It's brutal, and he's left with more injuries than before, but it's important. He needs to get stronger, and that's why he keeps going back no matter what. He becomes numb to the brutality of the Decepticons and the Autobots. He becomes numb to the war. This is how it's always been...until he met the Decepticons.
