Headcanon that nico has always been insecure of his laugh because he has the kind of one where you can't tell if he's laughing or crying.

Leo was also insecure of his laugh, and taught himself to laugh like all of the "popular/funny" kids did so that he could fit in.

Hazel taught herself not to laugh because she's one of those people who laugh at the wrong times, and she would get in trouble for it.

They all have their mothers' laughs.
