i just re-watched the hobbit series and I feel like gil-galad’s character has a lot of similarities to thranduil’s, however, gil-galad has a steadiness and authenticity that thranduil was lacking. thranduil comes off very dramatic and over the top in his pride and anger. we also see gil-galad soften as we progress through season two, he starts trusting his advisors and we see more emotions from him. thranduil’s character arc in the hobbit was really brought down by the forced love triangle. he wraps up the trilogy with the infamous “because it was real” comment and then an awkward conversation with legolas about his mother. however high school me was feral for thranduil soooo…
