I’m aware that, especially on tumblr, a lot of these fans are on the younger side. It’s honestly so nice to see tumblr youngins be as mature as need be in these situations, with fact-checking and everything. However, I feel the need to remind y’all that since Hobie’s age is up for interpretation, that means that people are gonna HC him as adults. WHICH IS FINE, BTW. A lot of us HC Hobie and other characters as adults from experience, seeing as we’ve met many people on the older side who act more like Pav and Hobie than Gwen and Miles. Please don’t harass anyone who sees Hobie as an adult regardless of what has been confirmed or not.

YES I just love how we, as humans, sometimes just end up having the same metaphors for the same thing, even though it's slightly altered. Like patience of a monk/donkey (patience of a donkey is still better tho). The human brain is so fun and funky, we compare things to other things to explain the same things, and maybe, sometimes, even if it doesn't make sense, even if saying "I'm rusty at this" doesn't make sense in the language you're trying to speak, the other person will still Get it. Because language and pattern recognition is just That Way. "Μ' έχεις τρελάνει." You have made me crazy. "You drive me crazy". If I told some british guy it's raining chairs, they'd still understand what I mean, that it's raining extremely hard. And there are so many more examples of this! We just wanna relate to each other deep down! And we're so inquisitive and so "! Ah yes, similar!" that we GET it!!

I love language I wanted to say I was rusty at something but then I was like “Wait, there’s no reason another language would use that exact same metaphor, of comparing rusty metal to a person who hasn’t done a skill in a while. I can’t assume that it makes sense to them, I might look like an idiot spouting nonsense if I try to say that I’m covered in rust somehow instead of just bad at this.” so instead I went into my dictionary and carefully looked up the specific phrase “out of practice” and the very first thing it gives me is “oxidado” which is literally the spanish word for “rusted.” Fuck off

I’ll be completely honest, college and assignments are putting me straight into hell right now, buut I really liked your idea of chronic fatigue Doc, and I really wanted to draw him like that :”) I really wanted to break out my HC design for Doc for a while now anyway, so this was a perfect opportunity! (Sidenote: I hc that the red eye is a goggle he made himself and it kinda strains him to wear it a lot of the time, so he only wears it when needed) I also really wanted to try a tankobon/newspaper style comic, so I also took this as an opportunity to do that! I know it’s not quite christmas, but still I hope you have a fun Christmas and a happy new year!
