I absolutely loved the boy and the heron, but I 100% agree with this. The plot itself was a 10/10 but the animation was like nothing else we’ve seen in awhile. The different, specific styles of animation were perfectly made to fit each character and their personalities and the attention to detail was so profound. It broke us into a new era of what animated movies COULD be.
Again, The Boy and the Heron is absolutely amazing, but Spiderverse should have won.
Honestly I got pretty sad Spiderverse didn't won the Oscar.
Not to say the winner is bad, but Spiderverse is such a celebration of creativity, combining various drawing styles and creating new animation techniques.
This movie is such a needed middle finger to the stagnation and lack of creativity brought by Disney and other big Studios. Nimona, too, I'll give them credit for that.
