it's feminism and gay rights to have an m/m/f pairing because women deserve to have two boyfriends and guys should have gay sex with each other
Hi there!
This is a little long winded that won’t fit in replies. First you can write about whatever you want and while there’s no set of rules, I would look up common Jewish stereotypes, note them and try to avoid using them in your narrative.
Next I would focus on primarily making an interesting character first and foremost. Take time and think about how Judaism affects their daily life. Are they religious? Is their family religious, but they’re not? Are they Jewish by heritage, but it doesn’t play a lot in their life? Are they reconnecting with their faith? Do they face discrimination in their daily life? Do they have to hide their faith? Depending on the time and place that the story is set in might change the narrative. Use a character sheet, try to go as detailed as you can. I can share some that I have utilized that has helped me understand my characters a lot!
Depending on your answer, I would do research on Jewish culture and read narratives by Jewish authors. Slice of life memoirs or fiction is really good for that. I tend to find this helps during the editing process. Too much research makes me overwhelmed and I never get to writing the narrative. But it depends on your temperament and style.
If you have any Jewish friends or friends of friends, interview them, or if they’re better at writing out their thoughts, give them a list of questions. Takes notes and/or record their answers so you have an opportunity to look back on it. Obviously with their permission.
Once you’ve done your due diligence and edited it to the best of your abilities, I would reach out to Jewish beta readers. They’ll be able to provide some additional insights or goals missed. Sometimes it’s small things that we don’t think of on a daily basis that are cringy to people who are in that culture.
Hope this helps!
Hello people of tumblr! I am need of your assistance. I am writing a story but one of the main characters is Jewish. However, I am not Jewish myself. Is there like a set of rules for you to write about Jewish people or am I just not allowed to write about them at all?
![A colored digital drawing of Suki, Zuko and Sokka. Suki and Sokka are smiling and starting to take off their clothes, suki is slipping her top down her arm, while sokka is taking off his pants. Suki is smiling excitedly and looking back at sokka, who is looking at zuko in turn. Between them zuko looks startled and embarrassed, blushing and looking at sokka. He’s the only one who still has his clothes on. The scene is set at night, and the background is a beach with a night sky full of stars and a full moon](https://64.media.tumblr.com/76837220c4302538f42e3f4729170ede/6dff686bba048598-0b/s500x750/b4c4691182bdef007f59c6eff65f62c574e21ce2.png)
