This one's a filler chapter, so please bear with me.

Something completely different happened today. A knock at my door woke me up from my 1 hour nap which has unfortunately turned into a 3 hour nap. I stood up from the bed and opened the door only to find my husband standing there and running a hand through his curls. Oh! What a sight! He looks like a Greek God.

"Hey! Did you need something? I'm sorry I fell asleep, also you can come inside"

He thanked me and entered my room, this is completely new. But nonetheless, I had to take a chance. He was looking around the room and the pictures hanging on the walls. His eyes stuck to one picture in particular. A picture captured by Pierre's mom of Isaac, Pierre and myself. It was Halloween and Isaac wanted to be a Vampire and on the other hand Pierre and Me were Romeo and Juliet. He was 6 and I was 4! We did not even know who Romeo and Juliet were! It was because of the elders who had insisted on these costumes! Oh! What I'd give to have those days back.

"You need something?"

"Ah! No, um actually yes, I have to attend an event with the rest of grid tomorrow. And you have to come with me. So be ready by 7pm tomorrow, will you? Wear something nice. I'll send someone with dresses for you to choose today in the evening. Just pick something from there."

There it is! Like I've mentioned before, he only remembers me when he needs something or needs to go somewhere to show off the world our so called amazing married life. *Scoff* But I'm not mad, at least I'll be able to meet HIM after so many days. The only person who happens to care even a little bit for me. Who always greets me with a beautiful smile on his face. A friend? Nope, he's like an angel for me.

I really hope everyone gets a friend like him!

" *Cough* *cough* You there?"

" Oh yea! I'm sorry, I was a bit distracted. Umm, Why don't you take Julia with you? I'm sure she would love to accompany you and also I'm sure she has several dresses in her wardrobe already. Won't even have to buy a dress last minute"

The look Pierre gave me after I mentioned Julia simply yelled 'ARE YOU CRAZY'. I mean I knew why he wouldn't take Julia, but I just find a different kind of satisfaction by reminding it to him.

"Um, I'll be ready tomorrow. Don't worry. By the way, where's Julia?"

"I sent her home, no need for her to stay here for these two days, either way we'd be busy. It'll only distract us."

Oh well! That was odd! Distract us from what exactly? Sometimes this man leaves no tables unturned to confuse me to no end. Anyways. I know better now than to crack my brain over these things. It's actually useless cause I won't get anymore clear answers from him than this.

"Any specific colour that I need to keep in mind while choosing the dress?"

"Not that I'm aware of, just keep it a bit formal. I'll get going. If Julia calls or comes asking for me, just tell her I've been out for a meeting since morning."

And then he rushed out the door, not before checking our childhood photo once again. Okay! That was highly confusing! I mean why was he avoiding Julia? Or am I reading too much between the lines? No one knows. I better go eat something until then.

But still, I'm a bit lost here.

Chapter seven Previous chapter

Tommy didn't feel anything on his way back home. The hope to feel better after humiliating her, was gone. The regret started growing in his chest a few hours later. He didn't see her the rest of the day, or the next one.

"Where is she, Thomas? What did you do?" One day Polly came to his office and asked.

"I don't know where the fuck she is, but she better start showing up." Tommy answered, getting up.

Knowing well that it's his fault, Thomas wasn't trying to pressure. He thought it would be better for both of them to stay away from each other, but fuck, he missed her.

When the guilt fully set in, a week later, it was too late.

One day Mae was sat in the kitchen with Chase, the man she was dating for awhile. He was a working man, in one of the factories in Birmingham.

He was gentle, had smart eyes and was thoughtful. It was everything she would expect from a man. Two of them were talking about everything and nothing, laughter echoed off the walls seconds before knocking to the door cut the air. Slowly, she rose up from the chair heading there, not expecting who is behind the door.

John was the last thing she expected, as he stood there, in front of her door.

"Are you gonna let me in, Mae?" He asked impatiently.

"I'm sorry, John, no. I have a guest right now." Mae said, blocking out his view into the apartment.

He raised his eyebrows recognising the look in the woman's eye.

"Oh, alright, I see. Tom wants you to show up to work. It's a mess without the accountant." He told her flatly, trying to take a peak into your living room.

"I'll be there tomorrow." Mae said confidently. "Until then, I don't want him to send his men after me." She tilted her chin up, wanting to show her determination.

John nodded, backing away slowly, as he turned around, heading to the car and driving away.

Mae put on her smile, as she returned to Chase. He was right for her.

As Tommy heard the report from John, he was seemingly fine, until he got left alone. Trying to focus on the papers in front of him, but the malice of inanimate things made itself felt, as the papers didn't want to cooperate. With a head full of thoughts about Mae dating someone, his patience was thin. Eventually anger got the better of him as he threw the papers on the desk, making them fall on the ground.

He sat there, breathing deeply with face hidden in his hands.

He set his mindset on being busy. That was one of the things that were always making him numb. Too busy to feel.

Mae on the other hand, was doing her best to look put together. She dressed appropriately, going down as Chase was dropping her off to work. They chatted happily, giggles contrasting to the grey air and heavy atmosphere on a Small Heath.

As he parked, Thomas heard the engine, looking out of the window. His skin was itchy, blood boiling in his veins, jaw clenched so hard that his teeth were grinding against each other, as he saw her kiss him.

"This way will be hard" Tommy thought, as she entered the building.

They didn't talk that day at all, just like the couple next ones. The only words exchanged between them were about work, and it was that way for three days.

On the fourth one, seeing her being dropped off to work by the same man, he couldn't keep his mouth closed. Quickly scanning the desk, he grabbed a random stack of papers, walking over to Mae's desk and leaving it for her to read and sign.

His gaze made it known to her that he expected it to be done today.

Without a word, she sat down getting to work, making his blood boil as he couldn't handle the lack of her attention. Even when they weren't talking, he always could catch her sneaking glances and quick peeks at him, but this time? Nothing.

As the clock showed 6 PM, she rose up starting to pack her things. Tommy noticed through the little window around one third of the papers he gave her to sort out. Seeing her getting ready to leave, he opened the door, standing in the doorway.

"You're not going anywhere until you finish the work I've given you for today." He stated to her, his voice emotionless.

"No such thing. I finished for today. You have no right to keep me here for extra hours." The coldness and authority in her voice made him feel small, anger bubbling under his skin.

"Do you want me to fucking fire you? I'll have no issue finding a replacement for your position." He threatened her, aware of the lack of common sense in his recent action.

"Go on then, Mr Shelby. Anything will be better than having to stay with you in one building every day." She answered, boldly keeping up the eye contact as he was trying to intimidate her.

After a second he took a couple steps towards Mae, answering in a mocking tone

"You didn't mind being with me in one bed, now suddenly one building is too much, eh? Is that lad of yours aware that I had you milking my cock barely a week ago?" There was pure envy and jealousy in his eyes as he tried to mask it with derision.

"You must have taken something wrong, Mr Shelby. I'd never touch such an empty man like you." Her voice was confident as she packed her purse.

Her stubbornness and unfazedness by his words, driving him mad as he took two big strides, pinning her to the wall.

"You're fucking insufferable." He gritted through clenched teeth. "I don't care about you in the slightest, your little facade is for nothing." His words unreasonable as the anger clouded his better judgement quickly.

"Yet you're the one in my personal space, pinning me to the wall. You're nothing to me, Shelby. Stop acting like a pathetic rejected boy and move on." She didn't touch him at all, her gaze unfaltering from his blue orbs.

"Nothing?" He asked, covering nearly the whole space between them.

"Nothing" she answered, before he grabbed the side of her head, forcing a hateful kiss on her lips. Not waiting, he deepened the kiss before she tore away from him with a sudden step back.

Without a second thought, she slapped him across the face harshly. His face tilted to the side under impact. It took him a moment to realize what happened, as she watched the skin on his face turn red.

"I'm quitting. I do not want to see you again"

Fuck.
