i think gacha is an inherently harmful format for basically anything but it's really funny to find one that's based on an IP that can't sustain a gacha pace without reaching really really really deep into it's forgotten corners for new content.

There's a gundam gacha i play once in a blue moon in part due to it needing to go to extreme lengths for banners. we're talking mechs that literally only appeared in one magazine for one page back in the 80s, stuff from mangas nobody has ever heard of, a dude that was in the background of an anime 30 years ago for 0.3 seconds. all hyped up as the coolest new thing to gamble on.

According to @namazuyasohonpo on twitter. In 'SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays,' during the Earth battle (not the final stand though) Shino shouts:

"I'm going drinking with Yamagi! There's no way I could ever lose!!"

They've also included a screenshot of the dialogue:

I haven't studied the game very closely but I know that the IBO content loosely follows the events of the anime and there's several Shino/Yamagi shoutouts. For example, you can unlock Yamagi only after you've unlocked Shino, so you might say they come as a set. Shino also has a different post-battle line where he thanks Yamagi for his work on Ryusei-Go:

"Yamagi, you've outdone yourself this time! The Ryusei-Go is running super smooth, thanks to you!!"

Also this line:

"I love Tekkadan, it's my falimy! I'll do whatever I can to keep it safe!!"

I love Athrun, because his entire character to me is just him trying to do the right thing as the world goes to hell around him until he eventually has the thought “fuck, Kira was right all along wasn’t he? Again. DAMN IT”.

When Kira goes to Cagalli, Lacus, Shinn, Murrue, etc etc. for emotional support it's because they're genuinely good at offering advice, empathy and a shoulder to cry on. When Kira goes to Athrun for emotional support it's because seeing one of the most important people in his life is inherently uplifting, because it sure as fuck isn't for Athrun's emotional management skills.
