James genuinely couldn’t believe how good his life was.

As he sat on a soft picnic blanket, it suddenly dawned on James just how lucky he was. 

Here he was, with his beautiful fiancé and a beautiful view. A few years ago, James wouldn’t have believed it at all. They’d been through so much to get to this point. It hadn’t been easy. But neither of them ever gave up.

Now, staring at the amazing man he’s known his whole life, James feels such a strong surge of love that he can’t help but lean across the blanket to capturehis lips for a kiss.

It was sweet and drawn out, laced with love, as opposed to their more usual kisses that were bruising and needy. Not this one.

Regulus smiled at him and put the book he was reading to the side when James pulled back. He cocked his head just slightly.

“What is it, mon soleil?” James’ skipped a beat, like it always did, when he heard the soft lilt in Regulus’ voice when he spoke in French.

James smiled back. “Nothing. I just love you.”

When Regulus stepped into the Gryffindor party, the only thing he could feel was want.

He came to this party for one reason and one reason only: James.

It took Regulus all of two seconds to locate the boy. He felt a tug in his stomach, an invisible force tugging him to the messy-haired boy dancing in the middle of the crowd, arms thrown above his head carelessly.

Under normal circumstances, this place would’ve been Regulus’ worst nightmare. But how it could be when James was so close? 

In a few long strides, Regulus closed the gap between him and James.

He fisted his shirt collar in his hands and glared into his brown eyes.

James, the absolute sop that he was, had stopped dancing and gave Regulus his full attention. James inched slowly closer to him.

Regulus felt a hand wrap around his waist and pull him forward. 

Regulus couldn’t help his eyes from dipping to linger on James’ mouth.

It didn’t go unnoticed, however. This much became obvious when James whispered into Regulus’ ear, “My dorm’s empty right now.” James nipped the corner of Regulus’ ear softly.

Regulus didn’t know what else to do but nod fervently to the boy, whose collar was still clutched in his hands. He let go hastily and tried to keep his hands to himself while following James up the stairs.

But they’d only made it three steps before they started grasping at each other. 

Regulus hadn’t even known they’d entered the dorm until he fell backwards onto the bed.

“James Potter, if you keep calling me that, you’re going to have to be thinking about whatever cheekyass comment you’re going to put on your tombstone!”

“But pookie-“

“James.”

His boyfriend hung his head dejectedly. 

If Regulus had to be completely honest though, James’… special little nicknames made his heart do tiny flips in his chest. But this latest one was just plain weird, in his opinion.

James lifted his head dramatically. He turned and looked the side as if there was a camera there. Where does he think he is, The Office? Regulus thought. When James started swiping at pretend tears, Regulus had had enough.

“…Fine.”

James’ gaze snapped to him. 

Regulus shook his head adamantly. “Baby, I’m not going to-“

His boyfriend shrugged with the cheekiest fuckin smile plastered across his face. “You gotta say it, love.”

After glaring daggers at him and letting out an angry huff, Regulus muttered, “You can call me pookie.”

James leaned over and kissed his cheek. God, Regulus loved him. 

can we please all collectively agree that Reg is pronounced "redge" and not "regg"

scream at me in the notes if I'm wrong but it's definitely "redge"

james always hating being called "jamie" because honestly how hard is it to say james but then feeling all gooey when reg starts calling him jamie

and when reg calls him jamie in front of sirius, sirius points out how james hates being called that and james is just like "yeah but not when it comes from reg" and im so soft for them omg
