im coping via being sad about minecraft men so here, desert duo thoughts

i'm just. thinking about how grian was talking about staying with scar out of a sort of obligation after his first life ended. he didn't HAVE to, but he felt like he needed to, for what reason i could talk about for gods know how long, but regardless

there was such a focus on being "free" from this situation he got himself into, basically contractually tied to scar for his first life because of his own mistakes

but then clearly at some point, it stopped being about getting himself free, didn't it? if it was just about him being free, he could have gotten away from scar as soon as he lost his first life, and he could have gotten so far away from all the danger that came with it

but NO, he stayed, because he wanted to, because he felt like he had to, because for SOME reason he felt tied to stay there

at what point did it go from grian being free of scar, to both of them getting free of everyone else? i feel like at some point there was this shift from the focus being the divide between them to the focus being on the literal line in the sand that they drew between themselves and everyone else

hell, they blew up their desert, the entire foundation of everything, just to try to free themselves of everyone coming after them

at some point that line in the sand got muddled because no matter how hard grian seemed to try at first, he ended up on the same side as scar at some point

i dont know man this is barely coherent im just so SAD about desert duo always so i'm throwing this into the abyss of tumblr lmao
