I think that the reason why most 'advanced' witches do NOT recommend beginner witches to look into "what types of witches they are" is because:

If you look into the specific types of witchcraft in the first days of your practice, when you just started learning.. you will just limit your knowledge.

Example: if you decide to be a green witch at the start of your practice, you will neglect some important parts of witchcraft that aren't connected to green witchcraft but are key to understanding your practice and witchcraft as practice in general.

Also, your practice WILL most likely change as time goes on!!!

Which means that if you didn't learn GENERAL BASICS of witchcraft, and jumped straight into sea witchcraft, kitchen witchcraft, etc... your knowledge on other paths will most likely be limited.

I agree STRONGLY!!! While you do not know how someone else's relationship with a deity is... Sometimes the lack of respect is obvious.

The lack of self discipline in the pagan community with deity worship is awful..

That includes not just communicating with them when you need their help with a spell, take the time to get to know them, take the time to gain wisdom from their myths and stories, learn what they like and don't like. Establishing a healthy friendly relationship with your deities is important in making them feel appreciated and that you genuinely support them. Don't be afraid to show deities you love them with offerings and devotional prayers!

please try to remember to clean their altar, like garbage, or moldy/rotten food on offering plate

Please don't call them slurs or say overly negative things about them!! It's okay not to agree with some of their actions but please don't say stuff like " Ares is a misogynist "
