a/n: This is going to be a long author's note, I'm sorry- There are two songs that motivated me to write this fanfic and you should def check them out. I really hate to be that person but there's sort of an order you're gonna have to read this fanfic ;v;

1. Listen to Yellow (Coldplay) and Dandelions (Ruth B) and read the lyrics. I'm gonna be referencing some of the lyrics a lot lol.

2. Read this fanfiction.

3. Reread the fanfic while listening to Yellow and Dandelions >:) *optional lol*

I'm done talking bye-

When two people are destined for each other, they are able to see a timer on which displays how long the other has left to live. It will decrease from years, to days, to hours, to minutes, finally to seconds until the timer stops forever. The timer only appears when both people fall in love with each other.

Six years after the exchange program, the seven brothers are sitting around the table, having dinner as usual, until a timer appears next to Beel. Asmo is the first to notice as he has been eagerly awaiting for one of his brothers to get a timer even though he himself does not have one yet.

"Beel, check it out! You have a timer next to you!" he says, pointing at the timer next to Beel.

The other brothers congratulate Beel and nag him to say who it is he is in love with even though they already know who it is. It's Y/N. After they had returned to the Human World six years ago, Beel was left devastated. They were very close during the exchange program period. As his brothers' nagging continues, Beel remains silent.

"Beel, how are you not phased by this?" Satan asks him.

Beel looks up at Satan in confusion. "Phased by what?" Beel asks, giving Satan a puzzled look.

It was then that the brothers realize that Beel hasn't been listening to anything they have been speaking about for the past ten minutes.

"Beel, you've gotten your soulmate's timer..." Levi says through a sigh.

"Oh, really?" Beel says as he looks to his left. Displayed in the air next to him are two numbers and five letters. "65 years". "I'm happy that my soulmate will live that long, but I'm sad because I will live longer," Beel says as he stuffs another bite of his food into his mouth.

"Ya can't be so relaxed about this," Mammon says, slamming his cutlery onto the table.

"You can't be jealous that Beel received his timer before you, Mammon. Sit back down and finish your dinner," Lucifer sighs. Belphie, who has been silent up until now, finally speaks.

"Beel, do you know who it is?" he asks gently.

"I hope that it's Y/N. No wait, I want Y/N to live for a lot longer than just 65 years, I hope it's not Y/N then. No wait, I want it to be Y/N," the words fall out of Beel's mouth faster than he can comprehend them. Mammon, Levi, Satan and Asmo laugh at Beel's conflicting emotions but are still concerned about just who it is that received his timer and whether or not they will be happy together, let alone meet. However, Lucifer and Belphie are worried over something else: Whoever received Beel's timer, what numbers does their timer display and how quickly do they decrease?

After school the next day, Beel and Belphie are together in their room discussing the events that occurred that day at RAD.

"Did you see how everyone praised you at RAD for being the first of us brothers to receive a timer?" Belphie says, pulling his favourite cow-spotted pillow towards him. Beel doesn't respond. Instead, he gazes over at his timer which still displays the same digits as the ones he saw yesterday.

"Hey, Beel! I'm talking to you!" Belphie yells, squeezing his pillow, as if in hopes that Beel will feel it. Beel snaps out of his daydream and turns his head towards Belphie. A frown paints his face, causing his features to drop, giving him a drowsy look.

"Beel? Are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm alright. I just... really hope that it's Y/N," Beel says, collapsing onto his bed. The softness of the bed gives off the illusion of being swallowed by tranquility. He instantly feels at peace and exhales a deep sigh.

"Beel, it doesn't really matter that much. You have 65 years to meet whoever it is, I don't know why you're worrying so much," Belphie says, throwing his cow-spotted pillow at Beel. Beel catches it with ease and holds it above him. His mind slips into his memories and he remembers each time he found Y/N with this pillow. Be it falling asleep with it or throwing it at his face, each memory releases a drop of sadness and longing into the pool of Beel's emotions. He sighs and holds the pillow to his chest.

"Y/N... Where are you?" he says before closing his eyes, succumbing to exhaustion.

The days came and went, it has been 2 weeks since Beel received his timer. He and Belphie are sitting on the attic floor and discussing who his soulmate may be. The air in the attic is thick and still, as if you could almost see it. Beel places his hand on the floor and the worn floorboards creak, causing waves of nostalgia to wash over him.

"Belphie, do you remember when we formed the Attic Club?"

"Oh. Yeah, it was some time after Y/N set me free from the attic." Belphie says, smiling. Beel knows that Belphie is experiencing saudade but he doesn't say anything, he feels the same way.

《Saudade: The melancholic longing for someone or something you love that you cannot reach.》

At that moment, Beel comes to a realization.

"Hey, Belphie, what do you think their timer displays?"

A mixture of fear and sadness swells inside of Belphie. A sigh escapes from his lips. Voice shaking and hands trembling, he musters the courage to respond.

"A large number, I'm sure."

"Tell me the truth, Belphie; how long do you think I have left?" Beel asks.

You can hear the sincerity in his voice and see his pain being reflected on his face. Just the fact that someone could ask such a heartbreaking question so genuinely was enough to bring tears to anyone's eyes. Belphie blinks at his blurry eyes. He falls into his older twin brother's arms and whispers more to himself than to anyone else:

"Please don't leave soon."

A month has passed. 4 weeks, 30 days, 720 hours, 43 200 minutes, 2 592 000 seconds. That's all that has passed and yet, it feels like an eternity has gone by. Beel, Belphie, Mammon, Asmo and Satan are together in the common room discussing Beel's timer.

"It's been a month already, are ya not gonna go lookin' for 'em?" Mammon asks.

"He has time, Mammon. Don't rush him, allow him to work at his own pace," Satan says, flipping the crumbling page in the book he stole from Lucifer.

"Exactly! That's what we do to you, Mammon. Be patient," Asmo adds.

"Ya do WHAT?!" Mammon yells.

Belphie stares at the fight breaking out while Beel smiles at his timer.

"Y/N... I know it's you."

He sinks into his memories and remembers each and every moment he spent with Y/N. The more he imagines them, the more his heart aches. He is brought back to reality when a trembling hand shakes his shoulder.

"Belphie? What is it?" he asks.

"Beel..." Belphie slowly points next to Beel, horror written across his face. Beel turns to look at the others, their faces mimicking that of Belphie's. Anxiously, Beel turns his head to see what they are so terrified of.

His heart stops and time stands still as he looks at his timer. It no longer displays the digits it once used to.

"12 years..." Beel says, grabbing onto Belphie's hand, "That's still a lot of time, right?"

Beel watches as Asmo breaks into tears, clinging onto Mammon while he stares blankly at the timer. Satan has left to go find Levi and Lucifer, probably. Belphie hugs Beel and tells him that he still has time, but those words no longer hold the purpose they once did 5 minutes ago.

Weeks after the decrease in the timer, Beel is out shopping. To him, the world feels emptier and emptier with each passing day. He can't stand the fact that he will have to lose Y/N so soon and there is nothing he can do about it. As he listens to his thoughts, he comes across a group of budding dandelions, the small yellow ones he plucks out of the garden. As Mammon would call them, the "weeds of the Earth". As he looks down at the dandelions gently dancing to the rhythm of the wind, he falls into a flashback. He remembers how he and Y/N used to go dandelion-picking, how beautiful they looked in that yellow outfit he bought them, their smile when they came across a puffball and the wishes they made on it. He misses Y/N so much that he can no longer contain his misery and longing. Trying to distract himself from his sadness, he checks his timer. To his dismay, he is left with another reason to feel miserable.

"50 days, huh? So it had another error..."

That night, Beel has a nightmare. He dreams of watching his timer decrease to zero without ever meeting his soulmate. When he wakes up, he checks his timer to make sure that it has stayed the same. Sure enough, it hasn't. A cold sweat runs down Beel's neck as he stares at the words "5 days" written on his timer.

The following day, Beel pulls Belphie aside to tell him about his situation.

"Beel, I don't think there's anything we can do about it."

"But there has to be."

"Maybe we should leave it as is. We don't know who your soulmate is, we don't know what life they're living and what they're going through. Maybe it's for the best."

"That can't be possible, no one deserves to die."

"I'm sorry, Beel."

Belphie wraps his arms around Beel, pulling him into a tight hug. Beel returns it with less meaning than he used to.

Beel is sitting on his bed looking at the collection of pictures he has of Y/N. There's all sorts of pictures, some they took together, some he took of them, others taken by other people entirely. He glances over at Belphie who is peacefully sleeping in his bed. Beel closes his eyes and thinks of Y/N.

"Y/N... I hope you're not my soulmate. I really hope you're not my soulmate. I'd much rather have you not love me than you dying without me being able to save you. I would give up everything to help you but, I can't. I just can't," Beel thinks to himself. He checks his timer. "5 days". He sighs in relief that it hadn't had another error. He'll be able to make it through the night without worrying too much. He lets his tiredness consume him and falls asleep.

Beel finds himself in a field of dandelions, the yellow kind that he plucks out of the garden. Every 5 meters or so, he comes across a small group of puffballs. Ahead of him is the sunset. The ombre of red to yellow in the sky fits the sea of dandelions he is amongst. But he is not alone. Not too far away from him is Y/N. He runs up to them and pulls them into his arms, however, he his holding nothing. He pulls out of the embrace to find that Y/N is transparent. Beel knows what's going on. He knows exactly what's going on.

"I've always loved you, Beelzebub. But I can't always be at your side. Promise we'll meet again soon?"

Beel wakes up and immediately checks his timer. A single tear falls from his left eye as he watches the numbers on his timer decrease.

00:00:05

00:00:04

00:00:03

00:00:02

00:00:01

"Beelzebub, we all understand how you feel. But please, don't try turning back time. Things happen for a reason," Lucifer says, closing and taking the spell book in Beel's hands, whose eyes are glassy from crying.

"I can ask Barbatos then?" Beel asks.

"No you can't, Beel. You can't change anything," Satan says, his eyes glued to the floor.

"Beel, if it's not too personal for you, can I see your timer?" Levi asks gently.

Beel displays his timer.

"That's... weird," Asmo comments.

"In what way?" Belphie asks.

"Well, usually when someone's timer runs out, it disappears. Beel's is just stuck at 00:00:00. I think that's strange," Asmo explains.

"Huh... So they could still be alive?" Mammon asks.

"No, not alive. Just not fully dead," Satan replies.

"How about I go to the Human World?" Beel speaks up.

The room fills with silence as each brother thinks of an excuse to not let him go.

"Go," Lucifer finally says.

"Really?" Beel asks, the shine returning to his eyes.

"Yes, go. Go look for them," Lucifer says, pulling his big little brother into his embrace.

Later that day, in the Human World, Beel stumbles across a graveyard. He walks around in hopes of finding Y/N. Sure enough, their grave is there. Beel bends down to pay his respects but notices a particular type of flower growing next to it.

"Dandelions, huh? And the small yellow kind. Your skin and bones turned into something beautiful, Y/N."

Beel hangs his head low as he holds back tears.

Beel finds himself in the same dandelion field as the night before, the sun still setting and Y/N smiling at him. He approaches them slowly, his heart aching with each step.

"Say hello to Lilith for me, Y/N," Beel says to you, smiling.

"I will Beel, for you I'd bleed myself dry," you reply.

Beel's timer disappears.

You fade away.

a/n: uhhh, so I just wanna clear some stuff up-

1. Dandelions can be found growing by graveyards since it's a weed (lol) and when a person's body disintegrates underground, it grows into some form of plant, thus "your skin and bones turn into something beautiful".

2. When the first tear falls from the left eye when you're crying of sadness, it is out of pure sadness. If it falls out of the right eye first when crying of happiness, it's out of pure happiness.

Okay bye-

(btw this was my first fanfic so forgive the cringe TvT 👍)
