The love of a ship, the freedom of the ocean, the world as an enemy . Something tells me Jack, sorry Captain Jack, and Luffy would have been really good friends.

I like to think that Mihawk and his boat are the living embodiment of Jack Sparrow’s broken compass. He just sets out to sea and ends up where he wants to go. He doesn’t crack open a map or a log pose once and therefore travels the most insane routes imaginable and arrives exactly on time, this drives the navigator of the Red Hair pirates and the marines assigned to tracking his movements visibly insane with jealousy.

Last Weeks

Another One Piece crossover I wanted to try just for fun (I am a little bit addicted to doing these atm) And because I just adore Calvin and Hobbes 🐯❤️

@giurochedadomani really got me thinking about Shanks and his abandonment issues.

I think he has the terrible habit of repressing angry/hurt feelings that he has about his loved ones. Not quite toxic positivity but more like a man trying to always stay on good terms and good memories with loved ones.

It’s him not acknowledging the fact that Roger, Rayleigh his surrogate fathers and the Roger pirates his family essentially abandoned him when he needed them the most especially when from the flashback with buggy we can see that it so obviously hurt him enough to close off a part of himself causing Buggy to leave too.

All this to say it takes a lot for Shanks to get visibly angry at his loved ones and he has insane abandonment issues and guess who he decides to try and keep in his life? That right Mr I physically can’t stand to stay in one place for too long and my moods change like the grand line winds.

I do think Shanks genuinely what’s his relationship with Mihawk to be easy and he tends to do a lot to make it so and I do think it works half the time but Mihawk as much as I love him is tedious, he’s selfish, kind of childish, insanely single minded and incompetent with any emotion that isn’t a light boredom. and shanks for the most part does love all that about him and Shanks' peace loving people pleasing tendencies does mean they barely genuinely fight but when they do their emotional issues are so conflicting that its just a mess with a body count and a thousand mile radius.

Because I like to cause Mihawk emotional strife. I think it’d be fun if he had like a relative or a master, I don’t know just someone older and wiser who was a trusted adult to him, but who abandoned him and he convinces himself that they must have died right? because they wouldn’t just leave him, right?

But it turns out that’s exactly what they did and he knows this because they show back up in his life when he’s a grown man and the greatest swordsman in the world, and expect to just fit seamlessly back into his life. With the only reason given being that they knew it would make him stronger and it must have worked because look how strong he is! He’s Literally the greatest!

And Mihawk is taking 10/10 emotional damage. So much damage that he’s actually emoting and conveying facial expressions outside of smirks and displeased frowns. He is geniunly devastated that his mentor hadn’t just died like any respectable mentor should and is now expecting him to have feelings about it. 😒

He spends the first couple of days deluding himself and treating the mentor like a ghost come to haunt him for his sins. But Mihawk doesn’t do regret so that falls away pretty quickly. Not before he tries to have them exorcised though.
