You know what really pisses me off in Hatchetfield writing?

Half infection.

it’s like people completely ignore EVERYTHING that Hidgens talks about in TGWDLM. The goop literally DISSOLVES YOUR INSIDES AND ORGANS AND REPLACES IT WITH THAT OF A PARASITIC ORGANISM LOYAL ONLY TO POKEY.

The person there is gone, replaced by a completely different life form. Half infection is only briefly shown in “Let It Out”, but that’s while Paul’s insides are being literally dissolved as he speaks/sings. If you consume that goop, you’re dead.

There are no traces of your past life. No break through of identity. You’re dead.

Ok, this writing style doesn’t actually make me incredibly upset. What makes me upset is that everyone in the extended hatchetverse just seems to ignore TGWDLM. And that makes me sad, since it’s my favorite piece of starkid media.

The idea of a blue goop that is a parasite that consumes you intensely and then replaces you, like a body snatcher, is HORRIFYING. And ID LOVE to see it written like that somewhere. But writers seem to think of it more like some type of mind control, and that just makes me sad. It undercuts the tragedy that Bill was trying to reach his daughter, one that wasn’t there anymore.

…sorry for ranting. If you write the goop like this, you’re still an amazing writer. It’s just… I wish there was some accurate material. You know?
