Ive Been Having Fun Using Up The Almost-dry Felts In My Sons Art Supplies And Practicing My (very) Limited

I’ve been having fun using up the almost-dry felts in my son’s art supplies and practicing my (very) limited artistic skills in some super quick drawings. I tell my son he has to give every drawing/painting a title so he gets a bit of extra writing practice at art time, and now I’ve gotten into the habit too and find it fun to come up with silly names for the pictures. This one is called - ‘As Things Used To Be’

Begrudgingly homeschooling my son for two days, but did have the opportunity to do a fun and colourful felt drawing. RIP black marker. Here’s “Rainbow Road to the Stars.”

I’m a co-parent so only had part of the day with my son for Halloween, but we made the best of it with a fun spooky scavenger hunt! The gummy worms are all gone now nom nom nom

It wasn't too long, after Anachron landed that it wanted to chat, it was in fact, demanded.
Anachron introduced itself quickly, to all the world leaders looking rather sickly.
Then it hustled away back up into its spaceship. Was that it? The world wondered… It had been a long trip!
Then the world watched as Anachron and crew blasted back into the sky and beyond the blue.
To a planet more yellow, a world more like their own. To Venus just one orbit over they've flown.
Now they live over there and what do they do? They complain! And not just about Venus, Earth too!
They complain that our oceans are really too clean, our beaches too sparkling, our forests too serene.
But they can't breathe our air - not enough argon you see. So they just sit there on Venus, cranky as can be.

Went through all the old art that I’d made with my son and pulled out these paintings. We had lots of fun with paint this summer! My painting skills are about as meagre as my drawing skills, but it’s sure been a lot of fun :)

This is my submission to the Oprelle ‘Matter’ poetry contest. If you haven’t guessed it already, I’m trans, and it feels like every week (if not more often) I see a news article about another trans woman being murdered. This poem is a response to that. Nobody should be murdered because of their gender.
