I have this whole head cannon in my head where Kaz’s mom was a merchants daughter who was disowned for falling in love with a farmer. Her best friend was Marya Hendriks who married her younger brother Jan. After she was disowned Jan pretended she never existed and forced Marya to do the same.

This is where it becomes fully fanfic territory. When Marya was hospitalized she entirely forgot her old best friend, who was brave enough to fight for love over money/comfort. Wylan brings her back to the Van Eck estate and she begins to remember her old life. She meets one of her sons best friends one day and suddenly the memories unlock, could be his eyes or his smile or even better his scheming face. But suddenly she finds her best friend and discovers she’s dead and how much her children suffered. Bonus points if she finds letters Mrs. Rietveld wrote about her life and children.

Here’s the thing, I was chill with spiders. They came after me first. I’ve been bitten in my sleep three times, one of each leg, one on my neck. I’ve had two wolf spiders jump on me while I was just sitting inside. I used to be chill, I’ve learned to fear them.

Except wild tarantulas, they’re chill.

I want to say no but realistically I can’t. I have so much weird trauma with sexuality, I turned down a promotion at the retirement home I work at because it raised the risks of me walking in on people. I struggle with my own sexuality enough, just the thought of witnessing someone else with no warning without my consent makes my legs go numb, my heart speed up, and a little nausea.

This is so important. I always see either “this is why they are perfect” or “this is why he is to toxic and she deserves better” this is the armor. This is what Inej said to take off to be with her. This is why they work, in the beginning he pushed her away using her trauma to keep her from his.

Okay, I thought this was old news, but apparently people still think Kaz calling Inej an investment was cute and romantic. My friends, this is not a safe, sane, or consensual way of thinking!

Kaz Brekker, my guy… I love him, but in this moment, he’s not at a point in his character arc where he is willing to except his own feelings beyond begrudgingly platonic. Even later on the Ferolind, he describes the voice in his head that goes You, Inej. You. as unwelcome.

“But he’s Kerch!! Good investments are important and valued to the Kerch!!”

The merchers value good investments, I’m sure. But those are the people Kaz Brekker mocks, sneers at, and looks down upon.

And he’s smart. He knows exactly what to say to push people away, to rile them up, to create distance because distance is safe. Inej had been taken and sold and sold and sold and sold, and she just shortened his carefully maintained distance with the words You came back for me (love that foreshadowing btw). So he pushes back, he reinforces his armor, he knows what being reduced to monetary value means to Inej. He knows that she had been Heleen’s investment and that the result of that was deeply scarring.

Tldr; once again reducing a former sex slave to a monetary value isn’t sweet. It was meant to push her away and we shouldn’t advocate for such behaviors just because they’re coming from a pretty white boy.

Low key my anxiety has this constant assumption of death.

My mom didn’t answer her phone? She’s dead. My brother didn’t come home last night? Dead. Haven’t heard from my dad in more than three days? Dead (or even scarier mad at me[neither has ever been a cause]).

It’s not panic, it’s just like welp better face it, will be missed. I do this with fanfic writers a lot. So just so every author knows, i am never upset that you have a life that causes late or random updates. I do however begin to mourn you after about two days. Every post/update after a week is like my own personal Easter to me.

I did an environmental science presentation on how cats are a huge invasive species, that are linked to many modern extinctions.

Humans are behind almost all of them, habitat destruction, over fishing, climate change, and letting cats kill small animals not thinking of that as an issue because kitty kitty is so cute.

Cats are apex predators just smaller, that just means their prey is smaller, not their environmental impact.

Every native species is important: STOP LETTING YOUR CATS KILL THEM.

Spay and Neuter all cats you can and don’t let your cats out unsupervised.
