1) the U.S. entertainment industry (especially animation) is run by older conservative types who make up offensive terms and get really mad about them.

2) the people who run Disney would be the first to fall in line with a fascist regime.

3) most of the media we consume is tailor-made and watered-down to appeal to the tastes of older, deeply religious conservative audiences.

4) conservatism, not the left, is and always has been the biggest voice of censorship in American culture.

Ford literally killed Bill less than a month ago, and Bill's still banking so hard on him getting him out of therapy that the book shows up in Ford's stuff MULTIPLE TIMES. alex hirsch truly is like. the guy ever. he created one of if not the most renowned and successful disney tva shows. he clowns on said network. he won his high school’s bird calling contest. he hates trump and is always advocating for people to vote. also prank calls republican/maga hotlines and was on the washington post for such. he voices half the cast of his own show and does a deranged mickey mouse voice he uses for like two separate shows. he owns a giant taxidermy buffalo. he and his sister were on an international improv team in high school. disney censored practically all queer themes in his show and now he has a nyt best seller (and created the website plus recent interviews ect ect) that imply there was something going on between that fuck ass triangle and ford. a straight man creating good old man yaoi. creates the craziest rabbit holes to send the fandom down probably primarily fueled by adhd and coffee. he probably has his flannel sewn to his body atp and has thousands of sticky hands on the wall in his house. i could go on but he’s just truly such a interesting guy

watching gravity falls as an adult is a religious experience i swear. so many more jokes land, the foreshadowing is SO clear, every nuance in the characters’ personalities and portrayals is written in bright neon lights

every time i see stan interacting with dipper i can see stan struggling to separate dipper’s obsession with the weirdness of gravity falls from ford’s obsession with it. it becomes so much clearer once you hit season 2 and stan and dipper have established a deeper connection, not to mention finally knowing what stan’s up to under the shack. he sees so much of ford in dipper and wants to protect him the way he never could protect his twin

and dipper and mabel!!!! UGH i’m so obsessed with them. as i kid i adored dipper and i can see as an adult now it’s because he’s so trans and audhd coded… and mabel is also sooo audhd coded too… their bond is also just so special and unique. they would do anything for each other

this show is just so good and i’m so glad it’s experiencing a resurgence. it’s a timeless masterpiece in so many ways and it deserves every ounce of recognition it’s ever gotten. can’t wait to read the book of bill <3
