Bangchan woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the sunlight shining through his window. He rubbed his eyes and stretched, groaning as he sat up in bed. He looked over at the clock on his bedside table, seeing that it was only half past six am.ย

Chan groaned again and flopped back down on his pillow, pulling the covers over his head. He hated getting up early, especially since it meant enduring his father's dull lessons. He wanted to sleep in, but he knew that you, his maid would give him an earful if he didn't comply.

Chan heard a knock on his door followed by the sound of your footsteps as you walked into his room. He peeked out from under his covers to see you approaching his bed, already dressed and ready for the day.

"Good morning, your Highness," You said with a smile, "It's time to wake up."

Bangchan let out a sigh of resignation and sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He knew that he had no choice but to get up now that you were there to supervise his morning routine.

"You don't have to call me that, I'm not the King yet." Bangchan groans. "I know, just getting you used to it." You respond.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Chan replies, "Now will you please be so kind as to let me sleep for once?"

You sigh and shake your head. "I'm afraid that's impossible, your Highness. Your father has instructed me to wake you up and ensure that you attend your morning lesson."

Chan groans again and buries his face in his pillows. He was not looking forward to this.

"Come on, you have to get dressed." You say as you go over to his windows and throw his curtains open, letting in sunlight.

Bangchan groans and rolls over, covering his face with a pillow. "I don't want to get up," he mumbles, "Can't you send someone else to attend to my clothes?"ย

You roll your eyes as you walk to his dresser, pulling out a clean set of clothes. "You just want more time in bed, don't be lazy your Highness. I'll help you get dressed if you need it," you say teasingly.

Chan grumbled but got out of bed, stretching his arms over his head as you finish laying out his clothes and accessories. After he got dressed, you helped with his hair, making sure everything was perfect.

"You can't skip out on this lesson with your father today. If you do, he'll yell at me, and frankly I don't need to add that to my day. No offense your Highness," you tell Bangchan as you add on accessories to his outfit.

He groaned as you finished preparing him for the day. "I really don't want to attend this lesson," he whined.

You raise an eyebrow at him. "And why's that?"

"Because it's just going to be a bunch of boring lectures on responsibility and leadership. I've heard it all before," Chan complains.

"Well, maybe it wouldn't be so boring if you actually listened for once," You retort. "Plus, if you actually listened, he wouldn't have to say the same thing over and over again." You continued.

"Ugh, I know, I know," Chan whines with a roll of his eyes, "But I can't help it. His lessons are so dull and boring, I feel like I could die from sheer boredom."

"Well, that's physically impossible, so you'll be fine. Now, let's go."

Chan sighs but he still follows you out of the room, preparing himself for another boring lesson with his father.

"Here we are" you start as you reach the room his father is in. "If you need me send another maid to find me, I have other chores to do around the castle."

You curtsy to the king then to Chan before you leave the room.

Chan watches you leave with sad eyes before turning back to get started with his father's lesson for the day. He groans and takes a seat, trying to keep an open mind even though he knew his father was just going to repeat the same old thing again.

*Your POV*

I go back to Chan's room to tidy it up, change the sheets, put clean sheets on, and fix the pillows and blankets on his bed. Fastening the curtains correctly, tidied his vanity, and gathered all his dirty laundry to bring down to the maid's downstairs so they could wash them.

As I tidy up Chan's room, I take the time to look around and admire the luxurious surroundings. From the plush furnishings to the elegant decorations, it was clear that not many people got to experience such opulence. I find myself wondering what it was like to live in such a grand palace, always being waited on hand and foot. I started to envy Chan's status but, I also know that it also came with its own set of challenges.ย

After finishing up with the room, I head out to the main floor of the castle to help with the other duties that needed to be done.

I decided to help gather produce from the castle gardens with the other maids from the castle kitchen.

I have always enjoyed this task, I got to spend time outdoors in the gardens.

The castle maids are one big family, and they work as one unit. If one maid has nothing on her schedule, they find something to help out with. It makes things at the castle run faster and smoother, It also gets all of you an early break at the end of the day.

This is why I like Chan's lessons with his father all day. Even though he hates having to sit there and listen to his father.

As the other maids and I worked in the garden, we couldn't help but notice the two guards watching over the bunch of you. All of you wondered why they were there, but they didn't think too much of it, gossiping and making up stories on why guards were suddenly watching over you all. However, you all continued to pick the fresh produce and laugh along with other maids, while I enjoyed the company and the warm sun on your face. Overall, it was a good day to be working outside in the gardens.ย

The other maids and I head back inside with baskets full of produce, taking them to the kitchen to be washed and prepped by the kitchen maids so they can make lunch and dinner. Once everything is settled in the kitchen, I head up to check on Chan, seeing if the lesson with his father is over.

I head up to the room Chan and his father reside in, hoping to find him out of his lesson with his father. As I approach the room, I see the door is still closed, indicating that the lesson is still is session. I pause for a moment outside the door, wondering what's happening inside.

Is Chan bored of frustrated? Is his father giving him a hard time or vice vera, or simply going over the usual business of being a prince? You can't help but be curious. But I know I shouldn't eavesdrop, that I should just wait patiently until the meeting is over. Just go back to my sleeping quarters and rest for a bit.

But, even though I decided against it, I still knocked on the door, before opening it slightly. "I'm just checking in, making sure the two of you don't need anything. A drink? Something to eat?"

Chan immediately looked up to me, trying to hide his frustration with the boring lessons. "No, I don't need anything," he said dismissively, trying to sound like he wasn't bored out of his mind. "Just bring me my lunch when it's ready."

I bow my head towards Chan, signaling that I heard him, then I look towards the King. "Would you like the same thing Sir? For your lunch to be brought to you when it's ready?"

The King waves his hand dismissively at me. "No, that's alright, just bring me some water."

Chan rolls his eyes, used to this kind of behavior from his father. He watches as you bow before leaving the room, the door closing softly behind me.

I head down to the kitchen to get a glass of water. As I go to head back up to the lunch gets finished so me and the Kings personal maid Maya, grab a tray and put the plates of food and the glass of water on the tray before heading back up to the room the King and Prince reside in.

As the two of you make your way back upstairs with the trays of food and water, they could feel the tension in the air. Bangchan and his father had a strained relationship and their lessons often made things worse. Maya and I knew we had to be careful in how they handled the situation.

As I go to knock on the door there's a loud crash from inside the room. Maya and I flinch and exchange a worried look with each other. We pause outside the door, listening for any further noises, unsure of what to do. But everything was silent. We exchange a nervous glance once again before taking a deep breath and enter the room, unsure of what we might find.

After your encounter in the studio, Hyunjin couldn't get you out of his mind. He thought about your conversations, your caring nature, and the way your eyes lit up when you smiled. As days passed, he found himself unconsciously searching for you in hallways, during practice sessions, and backstage during performances and interviews. But time was against you, your busy schedules as idols made it difficult to find moments to spend together. Meanwhile, you also found yourself thinking about Hyunjin more and more each day, your heart skipping a beat every time his face appeared in your thoughts.

Your stolen glances and subtle gestures became your only way of expressing your growing feelings. There were moments when you bumped into each other in the hallways, your hands accidentally brushing against each other, sending sparks of electricity through your fingertips. You found yourselves stealing moments to chat whenever possible, but your conversations were often interrupted or kept brief due to your hectic schedules. The tension between you was palpable, and your friends began to notice the subtle cues of your budding affection.

As the days passed, Hyunjin's group members couldn't help but notice the growing chemistry between him and you. They often teased Hyunjin about his blushing cheeks whenever your name was mentioned and the way he would become more distracted during practice sessions. One evening, while they were relaxing in their dorm, Changbin, one of the members, decided to tease Hyunjin further.

"Hyunjin, you've been quite distracted lately," Changbin observed, a smirk playing on his lips. "Care to share what's on your mind?"

Hyunjin blushed, not expecting to be called out so directly. He tried to play it cool and shrugged nonchalantly. "I don't know what you're talking about," he mumbled, avoiding eye contact.

Changbin chuckled, seeing right through Hyunjin's denial. "Oh, come on," he teased. "You think we haven't noticed you daydreaming all the time? And those blushing cheeks whenever Y/n's name comes up?"

Jisung, another member, chimed in with a grin. "Yeah, you're not as subtle as you think you are, Hyunjin. We've all seen how smitten you are."

Hyunjin's blush deepened, and he shot a glare at Jisung. "Guys, I'm not smitten, okay? I just..." he trailed off, unable to deny the truth.

Jeongin, the youngest member, piped up with a playful smirk. "Just what? You just have a huge crush on Y/n?"

Hyunjin groaned, knowing he couldn't deny it any longer. "Fine, I have a crush on Y/n," he admitted, looking defeated. "But don't make a big deal out of it, alright?"

The other members' laughter filled the room, their teasing and playful banter making Hyunjin feel even more flustered. Seungmin, the quietest member, finally spoke up, a teasing glint in his eyes. "So, when are you planning to ask her out?"

Hyunjin sighed, knowing the question was inevitable. "I don't know, okay? It's not that easy," he protested. "We're always busy with our schedules, and it's hard to find time to actually talk to her, let alone ask her out."

Minho, the oldest member, chimed in with a sly grin. "That's just an excuse, Hyunjin. If you really want to ask her out, you'll find a way."

"Yeah, plus, Y/n likes you too" Jisung added.ย ย

Hearing this, Hyunjin's head snapped up, his eyes widening in surprise. "She does?" he asked, a hint of hope in his voice.

The other members exchanged knowing glances and nodded. "Oh, yeah," Changbin confirmed. "Whenever you're not looking, she totally watches you. And she blushes a lot around you too."

Hyunjin's heart skipped a beat, the realization sinking in. "Really? You're not just messing with me, right?" he asked, searching their faces for any signs of deception.

The members chuckled at Hyunjin's disbelief and shook their heads. Jeongin spoke up, his voice serious this time. "No, we're not messing with you. It's obvious she likes you too, Hyunjin. You just need to muster up the courage to ask her out."

Hyunjin felt a mixture of relief and nervousness wash over him. "I don't know, guys," he confessed. "What if she doesn't feel the same way? What if it ruins our friendship or makes things awkward?"

Jisung placed a reassuring hand on Hyunjin's shoulder. "Hey, you won't know unless you try," he said encouragingly. "And honestly, it looks like there's a strong chance she reciprocates your feelings."

The other members nodded in agreement. Minho added, "And if it doesn't go as planned, we'll be here to support you. But you'll always wonder 'what if' if you don't take the shot."

Hyunjin sighed, knowing they were right. "Okay, okay, you've convinced me," he relented. "But how do I even ask her out? We barely have any alone time, and our schedules are insanely busy."

Changbin chuckled, a scheming glint in his eyes. "Leave that to us," he said mysteriously. "We'll help you find the perfect moment to ask her out. Just trust us."

Hyunjin's eyes widened in mild concern. "I'm not sure I like the sound of that," he muttered. "But I guess I have no choice. Just don't do anything crazy, okay?"

The members exchanged grins, their minds already formulating a plan.

"Don't worry, Hyunjin," Jeongin assured him. "We've got this. Trust us, and things will work out."

time skip

Days passed and the members had put their plan into action. They meticulously orchestrated moments for Hyunjin and you to be together, making up excuses for you to run errands or rehearse late into the night. These moments, snatched between practices and performances, became precious opportunities for Hyunjin and you to get closer.

During these encounters, Hyunjin discovered new details about youโ€”your favorite snacks, your sense of humor, and even the way you hummed to yourself when you thought no one was listening. Each piece of information only deepened his affection for you.

You, too, found yourself growing fond of Hyunjin's playful spirit, his unwavering determination, and his passion for his craft. Their conversations grew more intimate, and the glances they exchanged became more meaningful. The air between them crackled with unspoken desires, adding to the mounting tension.

Meanwhile, the members watched the blossoming relationship with satisfied grins, proud of their handiwork in bringing them closer together. Though they knew the path wouldn't be without obstacles due to their demanding careers, they also believed in the purity of Hyunjin's feelings and your evident affection for him.

One evening, under the guise of an errand, the members shooed Hyunjin and you out of the dorms. You two found yourselves walking down a quiet street, the night air cool against their skin. The silence was filled with an undertone of anticipation.

You glanced over at Hyunjin, who was uncharacteristically quiet. You playfully nudged his shoulder. "You seem deep in thought," you remarked, your eyes reflecting the light from the streetlamps.

Hyunjin snapped out of his thoughts, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Just thinking about... stuff," he replied vaguely. Realizing how vague he sounded, he chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. "I mean, there's just a lot on my mind with our upcoming schedule and promotions, you know?"

You nodded, understanding the demands of their career. "Yeah, I know how that feels. It's relentless, and sometimes it feels like there's not enough time to breathe," you said, your gaze wandering up to the night sky.

Hyunjin nodded in agreement, looking up at the stars as well. "It's hard to juggle everythingโ€”our health, our work, our relationships... It sometimes feels like there's not enough of me to go around," he confessed.

You turned to look at him, your expression softened by the moonlight. "But you're doing really well," you reassured him. "You always put in your best, and it shows. The fans love you for a reason, you know?"

Hyunjin felt a pang in his chest at her words. They were simple, yet they meant more to him than you could imagine. "Sometimes, it doesn't feel like it's enough," he murmured, his gaze dropping. "There's always room for improvement, always something more I could've done better."

You gently took his arm, gently turning him to look at you. "Hyunjin, listen to me," you said firmly. "You're human. You can't be perfect all the time, and that's okay. Your fans, your group, and...I...we don't expect you to be. We just want you to be well and happy."

Hyunjin's breath hitched in his throat as he registered your words, the unexpected inclusion of โ€œIโ€ making his heart skip a beat. He stared into your eyes, their sincerity and concern clear. "But sometimes... sometimes I feel like I'm just not enough," he confessed, the vulnerability in his voice evident.

Your expression softened further, your gaze filled with understanding. "Hyunjin, you're more than enough," you insisted. "For your fans, for your group, and for..." You trailed off, realizing the implications of your words, then continued, your cheeks slightly flushed, "And for me too. You're more than enough."

Those words hit Hyunjin like a wave, their weight and honesty overwhelming. He stared at you, silent for a moment as he processed your words. Finally, he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper, "You really mean that?"

You looked at him directly, your gaze unwavering. "Of course, I do," you said firmly. "Hyunjin, you're talented, hardworking, and so much more. You're not just enough; you're extraordinary."

Hyunjin's heart swelled with her words, the emotions he'd been holding back for so long threatening to overflow. He reached out, his fingers gently tracing the line of your jaw. "You always know what to say, don't you?" he murmured, his voice hoarse. His thumb brushed over your lower lip, the touch soft and intimate.

Your breath caught in your throat, the feel of his touch sending shivers down your spine. You looked up at him through your lashes, your heart drumming in your chest. "I just say what I feel," you whispered, your eyes locked with his, the world around them fading into background noise.

The air between them was charged with a mix of tension and desire. Hyunjin's gaze flickered from your eyes to your lips, the desire to close the gap between them almost palpable. "Y/n," he began, his voice a low rumble, "There's something...something I've wanted to say to you for a while now..."

Your heart fluttered at the intensity in his eyes. You could feel something big was about to happen. "What is it?" you asked, your voice barely audible, your gaze never leaving his.

Hyunjin swallowed, his throat suddenly dry. He took a deep breath, gathering all his courage. "I..." He swallowed again, his thumb still gently tracing your jawline. "I really like you, Y/n. A lot more than a friend. I've been trying to find the right moment, the right words, but I just... I just can't keep it inside anymore."

Your heart was now racing uncontrollably. You had suspected that something more than platonic feelings had developed between them, but hearing him say it out loud was a different thing altogether. You looked at him, your eyes wide, heart so full you thought it might burst. "Hyunjin..." you murmured, his name a soft sigh on your lips.

Hyunjin's heart pounded in his chest, awaiting her response, hoping against hope that he hadn't misinterpreted things. He moved his hand from your jawline to cup your face gently, his thumb tracing the curve of your cheek. "You don't have to say anything right now," he said softly. "I just...I wanted you to know how I feel."

Your heart swelled with a mixture of emotions. Love, affection, gratitude... all of them poured out of you in a single syllable. "Hyunjin..." you repeated, your voice soft and trembling. You brought your own hand up, placing it over his, on your cheek, reveling in the warmth of his touch.

"I... I like you too."

The prince was an anti-social and cold person, he rarely spoke to anyone besides his staff, even though it was only a few words. You were his maid and you seemed to be his sole exception, the only person with his full trust.ย

While it seemed like he didn't care about anyone else, he treated you with respect and kindness. Something you weren't expecting when you were placed to be the prince's maid. There was never a trace of coldness in his voice when he spoke to you.

Slowly, the prince started to get this weird feeling in his heart whenever you were near. He would picture you in his head, your eyes that shine in the sun, your smile whenever he told a bad joke, your hands when you gently fixed his hair, the way you always smelled sweet when you were next to him or in front of him, the way your body moves when you walk. And even sometimes late at night about how your body would look underneath him... but most of the time he would quickly push those thoughts out of his head.

It was inappropriate for him to think of you like this, sexually. You're his maid, a relationship between you and him could never happen. His parents expected him to marry someone with a royal status, just so the kingdom could have a next heir to the throne.

He's quickly bought out of his thoughts by a gentle knock on his bedroom door. It's you, here to wake him up and get him ready for the day. When he finally sits up in his bed, he sees you walking towards his windows and throwing his curtains open.

"You have another lesson with your father today, I'm pretty sure it's about fighting. So, if this kingdom ever goes into war, you can defend it." You tell him while setting out his clothes.

He groans, not happy with having to listen to his father give his speeches that he's heard thousands of times and could recite in his sleep.

"Can't I just sleep in? I didn't get much sleep last night." He asks in a slight teasing tone.

You're unphased by his response. "No, you can't. Your father instructed me to get you to this lesson on time and dresses appropriately. And even though I serve you, your father scares me more. Now, get dressed." You rant "C'mon, let's go" You urge him as you pull on his arm to get him out of his bed.

He sighs but gets up against his will. As he undresses you turn your back to him to give him privacy. Once he's dressed and he gives you the go ahead, you turn around and straighten his outfit before heading to his bedroom door and opening it. "After you, your highness." You tease as he waves his hand, dismissing you but mumbling a thank you under his breath.

"Now, let's get you to your father. And for the love of God, don't skip out on this. I don't want to be scolded again." You groaned.

Changbin was known for his rapping skills, fiery passion, and sharp wit. He helped Chan carry the weight of Stray kids on his shoulders, but his heart had remained partially hidden from the world.

That was until he met you. You were a vibrant soul with an infectious smile, you had unwittingly captured Changbinโ€™s heart. You had been friends for months, but Changbin had held back his true feelings for you, unsure of how to approach the situation. However, fate had other plans.

โ€œHey Changbin! Whatโ€™s up, I havenโ€™t seen you in a while.โ€ You ask with a bit of excitement in your voice.

Changbinโ€™s heart fluttered at the sound of your voice. He turned around to see your radiant smile. โ€œHey, Iโ€™ve been great. Just prepping for our next comeback. You know how chaotic things get.โ€

โ€œYeah, it gets chaotic. My group goes through the same thing.โ€ You reply

Changbin nodded, his gaze lingering on your face. โ€œAh, thatโ€™s right. Youโ€™re an Idol too. I forget about that sometimes. It must be really tough for you though. Juggling promotions, performances, and just keeping up with all the chaos. Especially since people expect more from female groups.โ€

โ€œYou should know just as well as I do by now, we just go with the flow.โ€ You answer

Changbin lets out a hearty laugh, the sound echoing through the hallway. โ€œYouโ€™re right. Weโ€™ve seen our fair share of ups and downs in this industry. Sometimes I wonder how we keep our sanctity intact.โ€

โ€œFriends and sleep are how I manage to do everything.โ€

โ€œAh, sleep. The precious thing we never get enough of,โ€ Changbin replied with a weary yet playful tone. โ€œI rely on it just as much as our fandom relies on our songs. And friends? Well, theyโ€™re the real MVPs. They keep us grounded.โ€

You nod โ€œHey, how have you been doing with all the chaos? I know sometimes you forget to check in on yourself.โ€ You ask.

Changbin's expression softened at your concern. โ€œHonestly? Itโ€™s been a rollercoaster ride, but I try to not let it get to me much. Iโ€™ve realized that taking care of myself is just as important as taking care of the group. Itโ€™s a constant battle, balancing being the strong one everyone depends on and also remembering that Iโ€™m human too.โ€ You nod your head in agreement โ€œItโ€™s very important to remember thatโ€ฆ Do you have this afternoon off?โ€ย

Changbin looked at his phone to check his schedule. โ€œAs a matter of fact, I do have this afternoon off. Why do you ask?โ€

โ€œI just wanted to go somewhere thatโ€™s not our place of work to talk with each other, to catch up.โ€ You reply

Changbinโ€™s face lights up with a warm smile. โ€œSounds perfect! I could use some time away from all the hustle and bustle. So, where would you like to go? Somewhere quiet or someplace with a bit more action?โ€

โ€œSomewhere quiet, for sure.โ€ You answer.

โ€œAlright then, how about we head to my favorite cafe? Itโ€™s a small, cozy place tucked away in a quiet alley. They have the best coffee, and it's perfect for some peaceful conversation.โ€ Changbin suggested with a contented smile.

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™m down. Iโ€™ll pay unless you want to.โ€ You state feverishly

โ€œIโ€™ll pay! Itโ€™ll be my treat, dear.โ€ Changbin replied with a chuckle, playfully bumping his shoulder against yours. โ€œAfter all, I wouldnโ€™t dare make such a captivating woman pay for her own refreshments.โ€

โ€œDear? Captivating?โ€ You repeat back with a bit of shock.

Changbin chuckled, a hint of bashfulness creeping onto his cheeks. โ€œAh, you know me. Iโ€™ve always had a tendency to say things without filtering them properly. But yeah, youโ€™re captivating, and I mean it. Your energy, your passion, everything about you captivates me.โ€

โ€œSo, you like me?โ€ You ask teasingly

Changbin blushed even more, his voice tinged with a hint of playfulness. โ€œDonโ€™t tease me. You already know I do. But just to reaffirm, yes, I like you. A lot.โ€

You pause for a second, โ€œI like you too.โ€ You mumble slightly.

Changbinโ€™s heart skipped a beat as he processed your words. A bashful smile spread across his face, and a light blush dusted on his cheeks. โ€œYou do?โ€ He asks softly, a mix of surprise and joy in his voice.

โ€œMhm, how could I not? Youโ€™re a very easy person to fall in love with.โ€ You reply. โ€œNow, can we go get that coffee?โ€
