Some more thought about the lack of technology in the Panem, movie edition.
That moment when Snow talks to Katniss and reminds her of berries. He does not turn the picture on the screen by pressing a button, for example, he just MOVES THE WHOLE TV. for what? And why do they have such a pale and transparent image... (or maybe snow is just a grumpy old man who doesn't know how to use it properly, haha)

Or one of my favorite moments when, at the very beginning of the interview with Katniss, Caesar puts the microphone right on the floor 💀 I don't think they actually need it at all. Don't they have anything better than a regular microphone? Of course, it is needed for a beautiful picture and as part of a character, like TV or stage stuff. And then this poor thing sadly lies there until the very end :'(

And all these high-rise buildings, even in the City Circle. They are so flat, gray and boring. COME ON, where is all the brightness?? Where is The City from the postcard? it seems that it ends with the central square.

Not quite what you expect to see with the word "luxury". City streets like this were such a disappointment (even in my boring hometown the houses look more interesting).
Nor did we see magical refrigerators filled with all kinds of food, a force field on the roof of the training center, and, of course, the miracles of Capitol medicine. (they can fix your body, no problem, but they can't fix your mental health)))
When you think about it, all of these and more other things seem so silly and ill-conceived.
as a non-uk human, my goal of actually hearing graham norton during eurovision is being fulfilled and that is beautiful 😭
They don't even use all those things. Items that some people throw in the trash (as soon as it goes out of fashion) will be picked up by others, those who are lower. And then you can try to pass it off as something expensive, creating new absurd trends.
And who provides resources for all these unnecessary furniture? right, poor districts.
thinking about this, modern maximalism wherever you go in the capitol. buying a lot of everything and displaying it in your home as a sign of rich ownership, even if all you've got is only a studio apartment. everything in bright colours, repainted often, second hand furniture being a really popular market. trends as circles so people hop onto things from 20 years ago in hopes it becomes the next big hit.
tiny living homes of people wanting to make it, full to the brink with abstract art they don't bother looking at, truly, and books sorted by colours that have never been read. a television far too big holding on a golden sideboard, covered in magazines purchased by a nearby kiosk.
even rich people fill their homes with a ton of decoration, the shapes meaningless reproductions of reproductions, art having lost their meaning.

So the Head Gamemaker and Master of Ceremonies can be besties? Yes, they are for sure.
