If You Ever Find Yourself Forgetting That Dr Who Is Also Dramatic, Compelling And Emotional On Top Of
If you ever find yourself forgetting that Dr Who is also dramatic, compelling and emotional on top of all the silly goofy fun I urge you to go rewatch/watch the waters of mars bc watching David Tennant go from a funny little guy with Rose at the start of his run to eventually that mess of an episode is peak character development (not in a good way, but also yes in a good way?)
I could write so much on the way the show flips so much between lighthearted, sad and just downright dark but I think that that special in particular is a stunning moment in 10s timeline and you could say it defines some of his actions at the end of his run.

Hey, in this photo.

The blank faces? Very simple cartoony chalk style? Yeah well having no nose and a horizontally longer face than the others makes Angel look like a ditto.

Also i cant decide if the =) rather than the precise ditto :) makes him look more or less haunted by the sins of man.
Its so funny to me that the general opinion of Lucifer and Lilith pre show was just "yeah she pegs him and he is so down bad for her it hurts" then the show comes out and not only are they divorced but now people are theorising that Al is trying to undermine Lucifer so hard as a dad because Lilith told him to? (I NEED to know what this man did to deserve that)
This may be one of the biggest theory vs reality differences I've seen for characters ever. Was looking at old fanart and comics of them earlier and my lord did we get it so incredibly wrong.
I dont doubt some people got it right, but most of what I used to see 'back in the day' was them being somewhat deranged but still happily married.
Aro spec Alastor getting told all his life the best thing about romance is the thrill and that he's missing out on the excitement.
Alastor - sitting across the room knowing damn well nothing could ever beat the thrill of murder.
Spoilers for Hazbin Finale under cut (Yes it's The Big One)
The fact that Viv revealed that somebody main was going to die in S1 seemed odd to me, because surely you'd want it to be a big moment? A surprise?
But no, this was clearly to make the plot twist hit harder. A lot of what I saw was ppl saying Pentious would die (and a lot of people sobbing about it) and when he did, or rather, seemed to, it was so blunt and shocking. There was a short dramatic moment but nothing over the top and then he was just, gone.
My personal hope was that the death would be Adam to round off season 1 and bring Lute into the light a bit more (need her to sing again, desperately). So in that moment I was wondering how they were going to deal with Adam. Usually I'm quite good at predicting this kind of thing so I was surprised but figured they'd go the mercy route. Lute being spared by Vaggie solidified this idea in my head so when NIFFTY STABBED HIM I was actually, legitimately shocked. I might not have been if it wasn't revealed that one main character would die in season 1 (I took it to mean ONLY 1, because why else would you specify).
This then of course left me wondering about Pentious. Maybe he was just banished or something? But HOLY SHIT when I saw him in heaven it made SO much sense.
Of course, you can argue he wasn't fully redeemed but then I remembered Vaggie getting her wings back. It happened during her fight with Carmine when she was telling her she needed to stop fighting with hate and fight with love. Self sacrifice seems to be a major point in what heaven considers redemption worthy, which is why despite his flaws Pentious trying to put everything on the line for those he cared about is what sent him up.
Another point to prove this is the fact that Sera doesn't fall for being deceitful to heaven/ Emily or condoning murder because she's doing it for her people, who she loves.
The bonus of Adam being the one to send him there, then dying in hell where he arguably belonged the whole time is aslo incredible.
But yeah THAT is what you call a good spoiler, one that adds to the experience rather than taking away.
I think I love spellcaster characters that crave knowledge so much in games because their chosen from of knowledge is also just super creative and artistic. Like yes girl you go chase your artist dreams you clever little child prodigy. Unfortunately I also enjoy the tragedy of being consumed by what you chase after most so uh, no wholesome healing rp for me no sir.
