The Wenvier Scene In Jail Is A 10/10 Scene.
The Wenvier scene in jail is a 10/10 scene.
First, when Xavier sees Wednesday he doesn’t even look angry, he just looks defeated and hurt and things only change when he asks her how does she know Tyler is the Hyde and Wednesday (like a freaking idiot!!!) tells him that she saw it in a vision when he kissed her. Xavier looks even more hurt by the confession but he gets mad when Wednesday asks for his help.
That’s when things truly break between them.
He can’t believe she has the nerve to ask for his help NOW when he spent so much time trying to help her and being her friend and the only thing he got was rejection over and over again.
He screams “you ruined my life”, “I tried being your friend, look where that got me” and Wednesday who is very emotionally constipated and struggles with social cues tells him “This isn’t about us, Xavier!”, cause for her it isn’t! 1) she is very much focused on the case and getting revenge and 2) she hasn’t registered her actions yet, not really.
When Xavier screams “No, it’s about you!” that’s when it starts to sink in.
“You are toxic!”, “Everytime you get involved people get hurt!” These words get to her, she’s hurt! but being Wednesday she pushes everything down and tries again, she shows Xavier the drawing hoping to spark something in him, but for the first time he’s not buying it. He’s done with her and her behavior.
And for the first time he’s the one to truly reject her. She has a taste of her own medicine.
“That can’t happen if you are not there.” “Leave!” and she’s prideful and stubborn, but his words sting and hit the target. And we see that when we see Wednesday pack all of her stuff and tell Enid, “Xavier is right, this can’t happen if I’m not here.”
She cares about what he thinks of her, she doesn’t want Xavier to think she’s toxic, it’s probably the first time it sinks in for her that she cares about him on a conscious level.
She spends the entire season seeking him out, obsessing over his actions, but not once she realizes what it means, not fully. Finding out that she has trusted the wrong people just like Xavier said she did, being openly rejected by him, puts everything in a different perspective for her.
The first thing she does with that knowledge is putting herself in front of him to save his life.
I just love them very much.

I love this whole entire thread and the conversation it's brought up. I think there are a lot of layers to this. I also dislike the whole concept of Rudy or Logan being "the other guy" or Louise only being seen as having the option between either Logan or Rudy. Why does it have to be one or the other, especially when neither Rudy or Logan have anything to do with each other.
I see Roudise as more of a Louise and Rudy dating in high school, but remaining good friends after the fact and Logan and Louise getting together in adulthood after years of growing up as people and having a lot of reflection and life experience. So, completely unrelated.
I also feel like the possibility of Rudy x Jessica or Louise x Jessica exists way more than people write or think about. (I could day way more about that, but it would be digressing and I want to get to the meat of what I really want to talk about.)
I don't ship Chloe and Rudy, but I have a theory as to why their dynamic is more desirable to a lot of people, just as some find Louigan's dynamic more palatable than Roudise in many cases:
Louise and Rudy are good friends, but Rudy is a sensible kid who isn't given to taking much risk and likes to be in his comfort zone. Louise is very chaotic, unpredictable, and does some very immature things sometimes. While Chloe can be mean and bratty, she comes off as mature, put together, and consistent - something that someone like Rudy would see as desirable traits, at least surface level. Rudy could be good for Chloe if she decides she's open to not being as selfish, by being a good influence on her.
Louise and Logan are both chaotic, a bit selfish, and think very much alike. It's a battle of constantly one-upping each other. They are fairly well matched, or will be when they are older. This is not to excuse or forget Logan's horrible behavior or his bullying of the Belcher siblings,
Louise and Rudy have a solid friendship, but romantically they run the risk of Louise pushing Rudy into being someone he's not by forcing him into all her schemes or trying to get him to become more adventurous. There is likely a point where Rudy would outgrow Louise romantically, she may not be able to give him what he needs as far as stability and same for her in terms of someone who can keep up with her. That or she'll kill poor Rudy by giving him like 5 heart attacks before he reaches 30. Rudy and Louise could work well if they can compromise and communicate, but that requires a lot of growing up on Louise's part.
I'm also bringing up Louigan and Roudise dynamics to highlight how different both ships are, just to hit home how much they have nothing to do with each other and how there would be no reason for Logan and Rudy to play "good guy, bad guy" with each other.
Also, Louise would hate boys fighting over her.
Do you know what I find the funniest thing? In Louigan fics, Rudy is often portrayed as the 'bad guy' or ex and in Roudise fics Logan is portrayed as the 'bad guy' or villain.
When in reality, we all know these boys would have nothing to do with each other! Even Louise would make sure of that. If Louise was with Logan I don't think he would ever hate Rudy or see him as a threat. And if it was the opposite, Rudy wouldn't certainly ever start anything with him.
A lot of the time it's mischaracterisation, and also the fact that we are writing about over-the-top characters that are like 9 and fictional. But it does make me laugh cause' I see it all the time.
Also random question:
If anyone out there does ship Chloe and Rudy, I just want to know why? Like genuinely! No hate! I really do want to know!
