I Think A Big Part Of This Is Also The Fact That Zemo Isnt A Villain To The World, He Is Specifically
I think a big part of this is also the fact that Zemo isn’t a villain to the world, he is specifically a villain to the avengers, supersoldiert and pretty much any sign of people seeing themselves as superior and acting on it.
If we’d encounter someone like Zemo in the real world he wouldn’t be a threat to us.
Meet Thanos, he might kill you, he might kill half the population of your planet, snap your parents, your dog and your best friend. Meet Mysterio who’d sacrifice you for his goals if you are unlucky to be in the wrong place. Ultron wanted to destory mankind, Ego wanted to take over planets, Hela Asgard both with gigantic casulaties.
Zemo? Zemo wanted the Avengers gone and killed a King for it.
Specfically the last part is very understanding, considering how many people we see cheering on the death of any other member of the 1% recently.
zemo in the latest ep was so good. like. the quiet '>:3' energy he has is really funny (the part where walker locked him up screamed 'kinky :) but alright :) i'll allow it :)') , and the way he just??? lay there??? with an ice pack??? after getting knocked tf out is so hilarious and melodramatic to me.
also ik that some ppl took the 'baa baa black sheep' scene to be kind of creepy and they're not wrong per se, but zemo was a father! his main motivation for destroying the avengers was his family! man's just rustee with children. also 'my associate' being a fucking eight year old is fucking hilarious. zemo is absolutely the type of person to sit one of those tiny plastic chairs at a child's tea party and take it very seriously, absolutely throwing in some gossip from the toys to make the kid laugh. 'yes ms bear, your tea is quite delicious. but how could mr crocodile say that about your cookies? it's not like he's any better than you at baking, not after that incident with his wife.'
also,,, we haven't seen that memorial scene from the trailer yet,,,, Owie,,,,,,
YES YES YES EXACTLY
also can i just say that i love ALL of the little details shown with zemo here… like not only the visual ones (him w a cookie around his finger, necklace, etc) but also his behavioural details ?? like for one i’m in LOVE with his head tilt and how, when sam calls him out on it, he has this realization moment that he even has a tic like that in the first place and that he uses it when he’s trying to manipulate/taunt … and he immediately stops with the head tilt. did u also notice how zemo’s tapping his fingers in one of the scenes where he’s handcuffed? it’s nothing big but i find it kinda cute 😭
i also really like how, even though his emotions and expressions are very hard to put into context and even figure out – you can practically SEE him thinking. thinking and studying and understanding and analyzing situations and other people. and in one of the scenes where zemo is talking to the little girl, he gets this blank look in his eyes. as i said before, it’s hard to really understand his little behaviours and expressions, but to me it looks like he’s getting kind of “out of it” and maybe remembering his son.
anyway … i love zemo so much and that memorial scene is gonna kill me

More Posts from Sethmacenzie
This spoke to me on such a level, I had to make a “watch me” compliation, and it’s actually really tragic.
It starts with Endevour telling the world to watch:

So we’ve got Endevour getting watched during the fight with Hood.

With Toya watching aswell.

But Endevour can’t see him.
But Dabi saw him the whole time:

Just like he never looked at him in the past:

And you get Endevour’s moment of remembering his own words:

And after Toya reveals himself everyone is watching him:

The whole world is watching Toya when he tells them about Endevour and what he did. And Endevours reaction?

Of course Toya reacts like this:

And the hard thing is Touya still just wants his father to watch him:

Because Toya might have died on that hill, but part of him really didn’t and is still that poor abused child that just wants his father to watch him

And Endevours still hasn’t learned his lesson that not everything is about him yet.
Okay but the fact that all Touya wanted was for Endeavour to come watch him train and see how much he improved and for his father to notice him and the fact that years later Endeavour finally gets everything he wanted without Touya and tells the public “just watch me”????
I get why Dabi changed Hawk’s plan and attacked Endeavour with High-End instead of some small-time hero.
Dabi (propping his feet up on the table): If he’s out, I win!
Mustard: Ok, maybe playing ‘whose family was most dysfunctional’ wasn’t the best idea we’ve had. Shigaraki's been crying in the bathroom for an hour. We can’t get him out....
I think scrubbing wasn’t mycintital take on the comission, more of a whenever we see - we delete thing, but after I re-read some chapters, you are right it is unlikely. But because it is a video of someone getting killed social media will most likely delete it right away anyways, so you could still find it, but not without searching and because of your mentioned naivete from Deku he’d believe Hawks words on it.
He was in the hospital for a while and a comatose state for a bit, which would have given the social medias time to take down most of that, which would have left sides that allow murder clips on going and I don’t think Deku would use those wihout rason.
And as you mentioned Deku has Hawks words on this and believes them, so he has no reason to look it up. And I thought of this Jeanist moment:

This is obviously about Toya/Dabi, but we can see the mindset of someone in the system and an adult, not a 16 year old, where a bit naivete is normal.
The way Jeanist obviously doesn’t get the connecting between Dabi saying he was horribly abused and Toya becoming Dabi a man who wants the hero society gone because heros get away with everything because he is so deep into the system it doesn’t even seem an option is a mindset after both living and working in the system.
Which i think is also Dekus sort of reaction of:” this can’t be it. Hawks had to have a good reason to kill Twice. He probably was that dangerous to be left no other option for Hawks. He probably tried his best, but then Dabi attacked him. Yada yada yada.”
Okay but really, this here? This seems like such a weird development for Izuku considering the new direction his character is headed.

And I’m mostly not even talking about Endeavor this time; because as troublesome as it is that heroes keep helping him instead of holding him accountable for any of the things he’s done, we’ve no reason to think he’d do anything that bad right now besides maybe not go along with Deku’s villain saving plan. Plus they have already worked together before so this isn’t surprising.
No; I’m talking about Deku, who is trying to reason with/save notorious villain Shigaraki and specifically not kill him, working with notorious villain killer Hawks, a man who in all possibility (and if he has his quirk back by then) would go for the kill against Shigaraki without hesitation.
(Or possibly worse, threaten Shigaraki’s life to surrender and go to jail for life & then immediately going for the kill when he refuses; thus allowing his fans to claim “see, he doesn’t want to be saved so he needs to die” as though not responding to threats against your life is equivalent to not wanting to better yourself.)
That’s just seems like supremely bad planning on his part, and really highlights to me how he still doesn’t really seem to think heroes and the society they represent can do any wrong. I guess in retrospect that major character flaw of his, the toxic hero worship, hasn’t really been addressed at all yet, has it?
Also AFO is currently not using his own body to steal OFA back, he’s using Tomuras body that was enhances by Ojiko to specifically hold more quriks, so letting AFO take the qurik might result in Tomura dying and Deku losing the quirk, while AFO being still alive and fine at best and Deku losing the qurik and Tomura staying alive and being able to use it with AFO taking the wheel at worst.
And Muscular is not a joke as a fighter, he killed experiences pro heros before, Deku himself thought he was going to die in that fight and he as mentioned wrecked his arm to stand a chance and I doubt that he’d do whatever AFO wanted him to, instead of fight the guy. And no matter what AFO said, most villains tend to have their own agenda and if AFO lets them go, they probably just went back to going what they wanted do/did before they got arrested anyways. Just because he broke them out doesn’t mean they’ll take any commands from him and he’s not the kind of guy to do teamwork as we’ve already established.

You know it’s things like this why I say I can’t take AFO seriously as an endgame threat. Not only did he lose one army, he then gained another (much smaller but debatably more dangerous) army, only to then apparently tell them to screw off and do crime stuff.
Like, you bald fool, you are fighting against a country and you have maybe 3 or 4 men and some Nomu. You had more men & Nomu at the end of the Jaku battle, wherein you ran away from around 12 heroes. Why do you keep throwing away your resources? Do you even have an endgame plan, and if so, what could that plan possibly be that would be better than either the PLF or the prison escapees?
I think his planning here is mostly based on the escapees causing chaos all over the country and the heros being to preoccupied with them (and on top of that with the chaos Dabi caused) to actually search for him right now. And AFO isn’t that much of a teamplayer, he uses people like chess pieces and throws them away if he doesn’t need them (he even left Maschia behind one of his own most loyal). But it does say a lof about him. Tomura is a real leader and a pretty good one when it comes to being compassinate with the LoV who support each other. That is a huge strenght on the battlefield something AFO doesn’t seem to understand, considering he left both Compress and Toga behind as a punishment for Tomura, because as I said: he doesn’t see people, he sees chess pieces and they can be replaced.
That being said: it does make him way easier to fight if you mange to find and outnumber him. But it does rely on enough strong fighers to find him, fight him and him not knowing about it. Since he took the search quirk he has a huge advantage on sneek attacks, you’d need an unknown attacker, strong enough to take him on for him to get a supprise attack now.
Overall I think it is mostly his own issue regarding himself and viewing others as both chess pieces and below him. He’s underestimating the strenght a strong group has, because he is incredibly powerful ans doesn’t rely on them. That is in stark contrast with both Tomura and Deku who value their friends and teammates and know to use resources to become stronger in a fight. But AFO lacks the understanding of use in loyalty, which is funny considering he has Maschia, but I doubt that AFO sees him as anthing more than a guard dog.
