Jaidenanimations New Video On Being AroAce (12:18): If I Were To Guess, I Would Assume The Thing That

Jaidenanimation’s new video on being AroAce (12:18): “If i were to guess, i would assume the thing that makes someone human is... basic empathy. Like i’m not an emotionless monster, i can still love people. I love my family, and my pets, just... platonically. And i would hope that you’re the same.”

I was enjoying the video until this point, but i have to say i’m really disappointed. I’m not good at writing down my thoughts like this, but i just... i’m low-empathy so it hurts to hear that i’m not human from one of my favourite youtubers. i have friends who don’t feel any love whatsoever for anyone, and they’re the best friends i could ask for. i just... i really thought jaiden would do better.

my brain be like hungry? I think? idek anymore. what is a hunger cue. why isn't there a little bell above my head that dings when I need to eat.

Do you care?

I would love to say "not at all" but deep down I know the answer is "far too much"

“Love isn’t what makes us human, ____ is” No, just stop, whatever activity or feeling you try and fill in the blank with will inevitably still leave someone out.

Even if it’s something that seems universal to you like food, that still leaves out people who have problems with food. Stop trying to redefine what makes us human if not love because you’ll always dehumanize someone by putting restrictions on what “makes us” human.

I Highly Advise Anyone Who Struggles With Social Anxiety And Self Worth To Not Take The Difficult Person

i highly advise anyone who struggles with social anxiety and self worth to not take the “difficult person” quiz that has been going around.

the quiz is not only unscientific, but it measures healthy human responses to stress and compares them against legitimately abusive behavior, pinning them all as traits that make you “difficult to get along with.” here are some of the themes of this quiz:

answering the “i am special” questions positively scores you high for grandiosity. there’s nothing wrong with feeling special, and not all confidence is maladaptive.

answering the “i am nervous that my loved ones are unloyal to me” questions positively scores you high for suspicion. there’s nothing wrong with being insecure or afraid of abandonment, and not all paranoia is maladaptive.

answering the “i am sometimes annoyed or frustrated by others” questions positively scores you high for aggression. there’s nothing wrong with being frustrated, and aggression is not inherently maladaptive.

answering the “i am unempathetic” questions positively scores you high for callousness. many people struggle with empathy and expressing their emotions, and there is nothing wrong with that.

answering the “i don’t think things through” questions positively scores you high for risk taking. there’s nothing wrong with being impulsive, and not all impulsivity is maladaptive.

this quiz is unscientific and these questions are being asked removed from the context that they are being answered in, which determines your entire score regardless of if you are answering from a normal context. and they then pin you as a “difficult person” if you admit that you are not always a sensitive, agreeable pushover—which is a perfectly healthy attitude towards socializing. you should not want to be an agreeable person to everyone.

personality quizzes can be dangerous when they tell you on uncertain terms that you are not normal or are a bad person. and this quiz particularly is dangerous to self esteem of those who are neurodivergent or have trouble socializing. please do not read too deeply into the results of others or yourself, because it is not based in much.

do you know of any "am i autistic" quizzes or posts made by autistic people?? i suspect i could be autistic but all the quizzes i've taken are probably made by allistics and don't address the entirety of autism and how it really feels?? so i keep getting "mild" traits as a result :') tysm!!

so because i was diagnosed with autism as a kid, and never had to do any self reflecting in that aspect, i’m not terribly familiar with those types of quizzes.

I have however heard that the RADS-R autism test is a fairly good one? i haven’t looked into it much, but that could be a place to start?
