Just been playing through Zestiria again and this line struck me. It got me thinking: is cannibalism a side-effect of becoming a hellion? We see the same hunger in Lunarre, who goes on to eat the seraph Mason and attempts to do the same to Sorey and Mikleo. He also refers to others, notably Alisha, as his ‘main dish’.

He, like the thief boy, express a desire to eat their fellow human. However, we don’t see the same in other humans-turned-hellions, such as the Cardinal, though I could be wrong here. Is this then a trait that applies to humans of certain temperaments who become hellions? As hellions they may not be very powerful, or not think of themselves as such, and so are compelled to consume the flesh of others to gain strength, as Lunarre has been shown to do when he eats Mason?
