Listen-I just think a lot of our problems could be solved if everyone shut the fuck up, took a chill pill, and just had a discussion.

Not a fight. Not an argument. Not even a debate. (Though those last two are still healthy) just a normal discussion.

"Here's my opinion. This is why i think that. I found this evidence that helps to prove my point further."

"I hear your opinion, here is mine and all of my gatherings."

"I'm not telling you you're wrong but that source comes from a blog and doesn't have a reliable source connected to it, do you have a better source? I can't form my opinion without a viable source."

I know it sounds stuffy but jeeze just fucking talk to each other???? It's not that hard????

ALSO WHILE U HAVE YOUR ATTENTION

NOT EVERYTHING YOU DISAGREE WITH IS A SLIGHT AGAINST YOU

YOU DON'T HAVE TO FIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU DISAGREE WITH

(This obviously doesn't pertain to every circumstance. I believe everyone deserves rights and such but this isn't about that. It's about unnecessary aggression and drama)

Just sit the fuck down and chill out.

I find it so interesting the way people are so different

Like I just read a post where a mother was having a hard conversation with her son in the car and she said having hard conversations in the car is great because you're in close proximity and can't really leave but don't have to look at each other (and yes she asked her kid if he wanted to have the conversation before jumping in and the conversation went really well)

Now, I personally love this idea. I think it works and I have had many hard conversations with my parents in the car and I find it easier to talk in the car, and it seemed about half the people in the comments agreed with me and her parenting style.

But, half of the comments disagreed. Some harder than others. One person had the tone of "I can't BELIEVE someone thinks this is good parenting!!! I would NEVER do this with my child!!! How DARE YOU!!" and to be frank I don't get it. I don't get why people don't like this way of parenting

But I also do get it. I get that some people might have had bad times in these circumstances or their parents tried to do this but didn't give the kid a choice or were forceful about it. Then I get why you wouldn't like it.

But th main thing I don't get is when people don't get that people are different. Like the person mentioned before was so forceful about this being bad parenting and such but maybe that's what works for them. The same things that work for me might not work for you but you can't just push all of your beliefs on everyone who believes something different than you or had different experiences than you did.

This week's episode of Human Brains Are Weird: READING

I personally get really into reading. When I read I get taken into a different world, I watch the scenes playing out and I love the loves of the characters. I'm surprised when they're surprised, angry when they're angry, sad when they're sad, happy when they're happy, etc.

But others aren't like that.

To some others, reading is just comprehending words on a page. They aren't attached to the characters because they're just words on a page thG someone came up with. Everything in the book is inconsequential because it's just a book.

I don't understand though. I've never understood why people say reading is boring. I've never understood how other people aren't transported to these other worlds.

I've gotten to quite a few twists and emotional scenes in the book I've been reading (*cough* Song of Achilles *cough*) and everytime I express it to my boyfriend his response is "its just words on the page" and I know that but also I am reading this real-time and I feel what he feels and dear gods it is painful.

The human brain is just weird.

Last night I had a dream that I was at a family gathering and for some reason Elon Musk showed up and someone asked him to choose the music to play and I was so offended, I woke up

Why are people so worried about what their art looks like? It's art! It's supposed to be fun!

Who cares if the subject is a little off center or your lines aren't straight or you didn't mix that perfect shade of mint green?! It's still art!

You made that! With just your hands and a couple of tools! Look at you! You did something!

Even if you just throw paint on a canvas or write a sentence you made art! Someone out there is going to look at it and it's "imperfections" and ador it because of that!

That's why I love art. It doesn't have to be perfect.

There has got to be a website like thesaurus where you can input an entire sentence and it dumbs it down for you. Like please tell me. I understand all those words separately but the sentence isn't sentencing
