I have five or six WIPs and it's so hot they've dehydrated. Really ought to give them (or at least one or two) some nourishment this week. Been pretty busy w/work and also a lot of authors have put out some really great works lately so I've been enjoying their stories!

Bwwwahahahaha! As the youngest in my gaggle of friends who frequently was the sober DD for the group, sometimes you gotta have a little fun with 'em. Friends! Thanks for the fun story with the boyz.

I wrote the 'incorrect quote' version of this last night and wanted to write a blurb based on it. I also just love normal Harry and Peter being besties because we didn't get to see it in their movie like we should have. So here take this to tickle the frat!Peter and frat!Harry itch.
____
It was a dumb trend Peter had seen on tiktok, mostly with people forcing camera’s into the face of their animals. He had done it with Bashful’s family pets when they went to her hometown for the weekend, however he thought he knew a better participant other than the german shepard puppy and calico cat his girlfriend loved dearly. Someone who’d sent his head through the wall of the frat house a raging four times from laughing so hard. Someone who's gotten so black out drunk that he tried to unlock the gate from the hinges on the inside before throwing himself over it. Someone who's truly never had a coherent thought behind his eyes.
Peter, arguably about three melon bombs in, ran down the steps of the frat house Bashful on his heels. “Stop, slow down, I don't wanna miss it.” She yelled laughing.
Peter readied his phone with the TikTok audio before rushing to the backyard of the frat house. Harry jumped looking over his shoulder smiling at his friend who rapidly approached him with a devious joy in his run. Peter came to a halting stop in front of Harry, knocking the glasses off his face, Peter’s hand resting on top of his blonde locks as the video started.
“You have a smoooooth brain.”
Peter poked his head, dragging his finger across his friend's forehead. “No ridges or lumps.”
Harry laughed, staring at his friend and Bashful covering her mouth laughing at Harry’s confusions.
“Or valleys or bumps. All idea’s slide right off...like a water slide”
Harry pulled his head away swatting at Peter’s hand as his friend took off running again.
“What the fuck was that?”
“You have a smooth brain, Har, it’s okay.” Bashful teased, ruffling his hair.
“I literally have stocks in Oscorp, Peter’s the smooth brain one here.”
Peter walked back and sat on the arm of Harry’s yard chair. “Whatever helps you Har, I’m not the one who got stuck in a spider-man kids float and almost drowned.”
“I wish you had.” Harry mumbled sliding his sunglasses back on.
Thank you for your kind words. Looking forward to your next masterpiece; the worlds you build are compelling.
I don't write as much as I would like to write. Full of work, full of caring for others, full of excuses. But taking the thoughts and actually writing them creates the teeter totter feeling of joy and despair. I write a paragraph to "get it out of my system" as my late grammy would say and think how good that feels and then come back to it a day, a week, a month later and it's rubbish.
I know it's work to write and write well; but I read so many wonderful pieces--novels, essays, fanfiction on AO3 and now on Tumblr and I get knocked sideways at how many creative and talented hard workers there are who are so prolific and it amazes me to the point that I think they've discovered some magical elixir that flows from their brain to their pen...or keyboard...although pen makes for a nicer image. Especially a fountain pen...they can be messy but they seem so romantic. I digress.
Whatever it is...that force....that compulsion...that seemingly inexhaustible supply of wit, wisdom, and words, thank you for it. I seem to lack that, but I will happily get lost in the library whether it be a physical space or the Lite Brite screen glowing in my lap as I settle in for a well told story. I love dialogue... I love scene setting...I love the mundane...the exotic...the bold...the secretive...I love it all. Tell me your story in all its messiness or its tidiness or whatever it is and don't hold back. For on the days I feel numb, you make me feel something.
I'm still slooowly learning how to navigate this place, but special shout out to some authors I've read on here that I've enjoyed and am discovering more out there every time I sit down and scroll.

Whoop! That's a great hook 'em! I'll be keeping an eye out for this one.
Paper Rings: PREVIEW

Pairing: College!Matt Murdock x OFC Carly Bennett
Carly Bennett was born into Texas royalty. Her dad Dennis “Denny” Bennett owns Bennett Farms in Fort Worth, Texas, which is one of the largest suppliers of beef in the country. While her dad worked his way up from the son of a poor farmer, Carly’s life was much easier. She has lived in the lap of Texas luxury and the world has always been her oyster. Her dad wanted her to stay home and help run the family business, but Carly wanted to go off to college and sow her wild oats. She’s always been a bit of a wallflower and a bookish loner, so she hopes that getting into Columbia University in New York will open up a whole new world of social and romantic prospects, but sadly, it doesn’t. Carly wants more out of life, but she can’t get part of her trust fund after college unless she gets married. But how can she find a husband if she can’t even get a second date?
Matt Murdock is an orphan. The son of a boxer who was blinded at age nine after a heroic act, and his dad was murdered after he refused to throw a fight. His dad did leave him a comfortable sum of money to go to college and become a lawyer, but Matt worries about being able to eat and have a roof over his head after he graduates. He wants to run a pro bono law firm to offer law services to those that can’t afford it, but he’s got to at least have an office to work out of, and maybe to sleep in. He secretly takes a job as a male escort at the Handsome Devils of Hell’s Kitchen, and he stuffs back all of his earnings from his secret night job. His roommate and best friend Franklin “Foggy” Nelson has his suspicions about why Matt is always tired and falling asleep in class, but he manages to stay on the President’s List, so he keeps his mouth shut.
Carly’s family keeps hounding her about bringing home a boyfriend, but none of the boys on campus are interested in her. She hears about the Handsome Devils of Hell’s Kitchen through a friend, so she decides to hire a boyfriend to take home for Thanksgiving. She hires Matt Murdock specifically because he’s blind, so he won’t know that she’s not one of the typical undiscovered supermodel types that seem to grow on trees in New York City. Matt takes the job because the paycheck is outrageous, and he’s never been outside of New York before. Carly finally tells Matt that she wants him to pretend they have been dating for almost a year while they’re on the plane to Fort Worth, and Matt gets a completely hare-brained idea. He secretly buys a cubic zirconia ring at the airport during their layover, and he plans to pop the question while they’re in Texas, so that he may benefit from her trust fund money. He doesn’t let her in on his plan, but she reluctantly goes with it when he asks.
