I've never had the chance to share this so ig I'll do it here.

So, I have a speech impediment. Yay.

Specifically a stutter and I've suffered bullying centered around my stuttering for years on end. (For some reason it was always by girls. Guys used to think my stutter was cute for some reason it's not btw).

My sutter is the prolongation of words and the block

I.e How areeeee you and I'm fin____

I wanted to share this for anyone else who's living with a stutter. I've noticed a few things.

I actually only stutter on vowels (lovely that every word has a vowel in it huh?)

I pretty much stop breathing when I talk (it's like my brain can only focus on one thing at a time)

Reading does not increase or decrease my stuttering.

I sometimes add extra words or pronounce words differently to avoid stuttering.

My stutter decreases dramatically when speaking to people who don't cut me off.

Now, I'll go through and explain them to help anyone who may have similar issues.

For 1, I noticed around four years ago that I actually only stutter on words that have a vowel sound. I sat down with myself and talked for a bit and found that every word I stuttered on, it was at the vowel sound.

Shockingly, even words that begin with a vowel sound I stutter over, I'll give details on that later.

So, the best way I've learn to handle this is to stop when I know a word has a vowel and I stutter on that word, so I'll say something like:

Everything is all ready done.

Separating them into two words seems to prevent me from stuttering.

2 might also just be my anxiety, but for the sake of this post, let's say it's not. I noticed I'm usually out of breath when I talk. I do talk fast, but I mean like I just ran a marathon out of breath from just saying a simple sentense.

The best way I can describe it is like when you're singing a song. You try and sing the full line as the singer does, but most of us haven't trained our lungs so we end up breathless by the end of it.

I still do this, but it's gotten better as I've learned to breathe from my diaphragm when I talk instead of my chest.

3 I'm really saying for anyone trying to help someone with a stutter. This does not help someone to calm their stutter. As a kid, my parents sat me down and assumed if I read aloud I would learn not to stutter, but it makes no difference.

My advice is to just be patient. That person knows they stutter, let them take their time and they'll eventually get out what they need to say. You're in no rush to hear what they say, so just let tham go at their own pace.

One last thing about this. DO NOT try and finish a sentence for them. It's bad enough we have a stutter, but if someone tries to fill in the sentence for us, our self esteem goes 📉📉.

For 4 (lol) this is a thing I developed and it works pretty well. This is the detail I was going to get into. So, sometimes I stutter over the word it, no Pennywise.

So, to stop that from happening since it is used a lot, I started saying "I T is like." Now, I don't say that in public, but I do with my family and the word is simple enough that no one is thinking too hard on what I spelled out.

But this is why I usually don't refer to things by their proper name (so if anyone here ever becomes my real friend, please know I'm not saying things wrong, I'll just stutter otherwise).

Lastly, 5. I would assume this is the same for everyone regardless if they have a stutter or not. When someone is cutting you off, it makes you rush your words, cut your words off, and stutter. So it gets worse for someone with a stutter.

I have very rarely encountered people who didn't try and cut me off because I paused to take a breath or held out a word. It's true that the anticipation of someone cutting you off sometimes makes you stutter.

I have my stutter under control a lot now, but it did take me a while to get to this point. So, for anyone out there who has a stutter, try and find out what makes your stutter tick and go from there to find ways around it.

Sorry, but last thing, since I'm a writwblr, I wanted to add how to properly write a character with a stutter.

We know t-the (repeating sound) stutter is a real one, but it's normally used for someone who's simply nervous. Someone who actually stutters would stutter at any point in time and sometimes in different ways (eg me having two versions of a stutter).

Also, know where your character's stutter comes from. Mines happens to be hereditary and environmental as I frequently get cut off and thus rush my words to get them out faster. It's also just kind of the way I am since I'm very fast paced and have a hard time "taking things slow"

It's also good to detail a tick or habit your stuttering character may have, like they stop talking and shake their head when pausing their stutter.

Oh, and it's true, cursing eliminates stuttering. There needs to be some testing done on that.

Alright, so this is pretty much a set up from past me to actually do this.

So, recently, I've been extremely lonely and have been trying to find a way to fill that void. It went from me trying to play some mmorpgs to find friends, to giving up and just accepting company in 2D men by playing some visual novels.

I played Under Maintenance and am working on getting all the endings in A Date With Death and while I loved both those games, they brought me back to my roots of writing romance.

Since it's February and I'm single I was thinking about relationships and got these two idea.

I've never written a rom com before and after playing Under Maintenance I wanted to try my hand at one and got a super cute idea.

The concept is an struggling writer who works at a bookstore who starts to pull the attention of her boss after spit taking at one of his jokes at a company party. His interest in her soon spirals and he sees how miserable she is at work. He then gives her a week to quit or he'll fire her himself.

Wanting a break from her entire life, an upcoming holiday is the perfect time to try and relax. While going to see her family at her hometown, she's met with someone else who also happens to have family there, no one other than her boss--the one who's about to fire her.

I decided to make this a little Nano, but lord knows I'm gonna give up and miss my deadline. So, to try and make things possoble for me, I actually started on Jan 23 and got a decent 12k words already.

It you're interested, wish me luck in actually finishing it and I'll likely have some stuff to post about after this next thing I have planned.

Again, this is a set up from past me, but also in my bout of loneliness, I started to think about how much I hate the culture that only people you're romantically involved with can show you love and appreciation for your time and pressence. Personally, I would love to celbrate Valentine's day with friends, just to show them how much I care for them.

My rambling aside, this made me want to showcase something related to this and while I had another idea, I scrapped it for this one!

For every day in February, I'm going to post a short story about the many relationships in my stories.

My MC Cassie has TONS of relationships, so I figured it'd be best to show it by giving little in-universe stories about the romantic, platonic, and familial love she experiences with everyone I've brought to life.

This is just my small way of sharing all kinds of love and to show how we don't just have to me romantic to love each other.

So, hopefully, I won't flake on myself and I'll have some of it done by this time this post is up.

But, if you're interested, I hope you enjoy reading and I also want you to know that love comes in all shapes ad sizes so don't feel like you can't have what everyone else does, you just have to find it in your own way ☺

Instead of what I'm currently doing, this was my original project for this month, so I'll just post it as it was. Just know this isn't what I'm doing, but feel free to try it yourself if you want.

So, I'm starting this super early since I know myself very well, but at this particular moment (Jan 16) I'm extremely stressed out and feel like the world around me is imploding.

I won't get too much into it since no one cares, but I got an idea about the month of February since, guess what, I will be as single as I have always been this year too!

However, I do love romance and could be described as a helpless romantic. Because of this, I wanted to do something related to Valentine's day, but also to do for the whole month.

So I thought of this!

Showcasing Ship Dynamics

In this, I guess series, I'll be writing a short story for ship dynamics I love, that I see online, or maybe you guys can suggest to me.

That's right; if you think this is interesting, reply, reblog, all the good tumblr stuff and tell me some of your favorite ship dynamics. I'll be using a random number generator to see the pronouns of each character and I'll go from there (fair warning however, I identify as a cis het woman, and though I have family members who are openly gay, I personally have not experienced anything else. So if something is a bit off, I will apologize in advance, but I'll try my hardest to represent everyone properly.)

I really want to do this, but knowing me, I'll either give up halfway or never even properly start, but... I will try my best to get this posted.

So.... I tried NaNo this month and lol, I can't believe I even thought my brain would allow this to work for a second.

I really tried though.

So here's a summary:

The first week: I tried working on an old idea of mine I wanted to re-write. I just couldn't get into it no matter how hard I tried though.

Second week: I got obsessed with Resident Evil and got an idea for another story. So with no planning, I started writing that instead.

Second week P. 2: I assumed I was gonna actually write this new idea, but I kept feeling bad every day and stopped working on everything all together.

Second week P. 3: I decided to build a site after seeing a super cool post.

Third week: I built the site and got obsessed with learning more about coding html.

Every week after that was slowly learning about html, coding, and web design.

In between that time I randomly got interested in a story I "finished" about a year back and started to edit it.

So far, that editing turned into my NaNo.

All things considered, it found a way to work itself out.

I'd much rather read this idea than write it myself 👏. It's a really amazing idea!

Though I did have some ideas, they just never got very far. I'll share these three since you shared yours.

One was with a man who awoke to a strange laboratory where he was being experimented on. Having barely any memories, the only thing he can remember is that his son is missing. However, it seems to facility is trying to keep something from coming inside and the man seems to be the highest concern. Will he remember why he was so important? Or will he simply search for his son unbothered by the pressures of the walls around him.

The second idea was one I got from watching Resident Evil 4 remake, where I thought about a zombie apocalypse that wasn't started from a virus, but actually a cure. This cure was made to pinpoint illness in the body, but one person decided to use it to make mindless monsters who would do anything to cure any ailment they had.

The last idea was one I wrote when I was a kid and I've just never gotten very far with it. It was similar to a Saw Trap in which four characters are trapped inside of an abandoned factory unsure of how they even got there. Along the way, the MC is met with people she knows personally and they've either been murdered or trapped to be murdered. What did these people have in common? All these people were someone who wronged her at some point in her life.

Even though I have these basic ideas, I don't have much more than that unfortunately 😅

I randomly want to mention that I have a goal to write one story in every genre. So far, my newest interest is horror/psychological horror.

I just don't have a good idea and daydream about an idea that suits the genre.
