They better add many more scenes for the estrangement. I get that it’s an action video game so they can’t do flashbacks for small scenes but I want them in the show!!

I mostly want to see how the estrangement affects Ellie. Like that other anon said she just goes on living her life. We know Joel hurts but we don’t really get to see it with her- all we see is her pushing him away.

I would love to see her missing him and struggling with the whole thing too.

I would also love to see more of it! like, how does it affect her? we know joel's upset by it because it shows on his face, but ellie? we don't see a whole lot of it. she's just angry. is she upset that she's pushing him away? were there some days that she forgot she was ignoring him, so she went to go tell him something and then remembered? I really hope they show more in the show

The estrangement especially gets confusing when Ellie is just, like, living her life. Fully. She doesn't go out to try and find someone else to use her for a cure, doesn't wallow in a loss of this so-called purpose. She lives and is happy. While being mad that her purpose of existing--dying--was "taken from her." Which could've made for a very interesting complex mix of emotions to explore with her character-wise but they don't so it just makes the estrangement feel forced.

I really hope the show explores their estrangement more. because what did it? what was the final straw that made ellie stop trying to be friendly with him? and for her to give up completely on making a cure? did she somehow find out that all the fireflies are gone? and that that group doesn't exist anymore? cause that's established in the second game - the fireflies don't exist anymore (except underground) and that's started other groups to pop up. we know ellie knew he was lying through his teeth, but what made her give up completely? she thought that was her life's purpose. and then she tried once, joel lied to her, and that's it? you're not trying again? I wonder if it's because she went through So Much the first time, that she just didn't want to go through it again. especially cause all that happened with another person. she probably didn't want to do it solo, but if she made joel go with her again, would he do the same thing? would he let them get to the hospital just to take her back to jackson? cause that's what it looked like for ellie. she got to the hospital with him, was knocked out, then woke up in the backseat of a car with him. she's not aware, fully, of what happened and then joel just isn't telling her? I think in the game, she was able to figure it out? a little bit, right? cause she went back to the hospital and found a recorder; did she find all the bodies? I don't remember, gonna have to watch a playthrough again (aw, shucks /sarc)

This is a little random but what are your thoughts about Ellie living in Joel’s garage and not in the house with him?

and mmmmm I have Many A Thought. it makes sense for her to move out to that garage so she can be more independent / kinda get away from joel / get some soace from him, but the fact it's not finished is what deals me in :( like, joel is a contractor, he could've fixed it! that is your daughter, sir! fix it! please! I think that's really my biggest thing about it, like, it makes sense (and the fact joel can see when she gets home from one of the windows in his house? more devastation), but it is not finished. we know jackson can do construction-y things, I'm sure that could've been dealt with, y'know?
