Do you think the future seasons will be as violent as part 2 is?
They definitely took a lot of the violence out of season 1, so they could focus more on building Ellie and Joel’s relationship. But I wonder if they’ll do the same for part 2.
I feel like some of the vioence may make them loose viewers (Joel golfing scene) just because non-game fans aren’t expecting that much
honestly? I have no idea
they did take a bunch of violence out of the first season to build stuff up more, so I imagine they'd take a bunch out for the second season, as well. but I feel it would be odd? I can't picture the second season/game without violence, so I think it'd be a bit weird, but they might be able to pull it off since they did for the first season/game, and because the viewers probably won't be expecting that level of it.
I don't see them changing the golfing tbh, but they might change other violent scenes/parts? like, the dogs? they better not kill the dogs. especially Alice??? please do not. no, but they might take out more of the fights. like I imagine they'll still have stuff for the scars/seraphites, but not everything? and a part of me is not expecting the rat king to be in the show. I can't remember the other fights right now, but I might come back to this once we finish the rewatch :) which we're avoiding cause we're about to be at the golfing
but yeah, I imagine they'll take some of the violence out. which I have mixed feelings on, cause the second game is so violent, it'll be weird to not have as much? but also, if they take stuff out, hopefully it's not the constant cycle of death and grief
He would’ve been deaf and lost his leg😭
yeah 😭
he wouldn't be able to do construction anymore 😭 he'd get to take the full role of grandpa, though. just sitting on that porch and doing woodworking 😭 he wouldn't be able to hear the guitar 😭😭😭😭
I think season 2 will be pretty violent. I think they took out a lot of the violence in season 1 so the audience would be truly shocked by how far Ellie goes.
I think they’ll keep golfing in, but maybe they’ll delay it a little bit? Idk- they know they will loose a lot of viewers so I could see them working around it a little bit to delay the inevitable
The only death I could see them taking out/changing is Mel. It’s one of the those things that just may be way to gruesome to do live action
ooo I could definitely see that, anon! I actually think that would be neat? taking out the violence in season 1 to show just how far Ellie goes in season 2. that would be such good soup
I HOPE they delay it. when I watched the second game for the first time, I expected that to be a bit later in the game? like maybe Joel and Ellie do a bit of adventuring and then the golfing happens. cause I saw the two of them in that basement and thought it was a kidnapping sort of situation? with the both of them. so needless to say, I was distraught to find out it happened so early on. but I do agree, I hope they delay it a bit to kinda work around losing viewers. I just wish to delay the inevitable, man. I am not looking forward to seeing Pedro and Bella perform That (it's gonna be amazing, but AAAAA I am not ready)
never thought of that. I could see them changing her death, too, but also maybe not? if they keep Dina pregnant (I imagine they will), then I think Ellie killing Mel (not knowing she was pregnant) would be important to show. because Ellie killing a heavily pregnant woman after telling her pregnant girlfriend that she was a burden? seems like something they'd keep in? but also I feel they'd change it because that is really gruesome to have live action. I do not know, there are so many possibilities. cause if they take out her death, it'll change the plot, I feel. cause Abby might be too worried about Mel in the moment to fully go after Ellie, which would delay everything in the theater. but they can't just take Mel out. they are so many possibilities here
also! since we've been talking about the game to show for season 2, how do we think they're gonna do the whole horde? there wasn't a bunch of infected in the first season, so would they even include the horde? or would they change it to something else? basically, how are they gonna have Abby meet Joel and Tommy?
mmm never realized it all happened in the same room :( for whatever reason, I just assumed Abby and them moved Joel down to a different room after hitting him the first time. you mean to tell me that Ellie walked in there, saw what was happening to Joel, and also saw what happened to Tommy?? all at the same time???
growing and barking. Ellie probably blamed the entire thing on herself. she was messing around with Dina when the golfing started (not that she could've prevented this), and then when she and Dina were gonna leave Maria helped and told her to bring her her husband back in one piece. Ellie said of course, but she didn't 😭😭
hi, have we talked about the lyrics from take on me and the symbolism of them before? and do we have the time to?
cause uh. Ellie singing "I'll be gone in a day or two... I'm odds and ends but I'll be stumbling away" to Dina on day 1, when she is so broken on day 2? ✨️symbolism✨️ at its finest. and then using the epilogue for "slowly learning that life is okay"? and using the whole endeavor for "it's no better to be safe than sorry" because she is safe in Jackson, but she would've regretted not going to Seattle for Joel.
Hmm I do wonder about the horde. Episode 5 Joel was able to fight a horde from a distance, so maybe they’ll do something similar?
If they change it, I hope they still keep in the element of him saving Abby. Just because it adds another layer to the story
ooo maybe maybe
I don't know if shooting from a distance would work for this horde specifically, but they might change it around a little bit to where it isn't as big of a horde? and then shooting from a distance could work. I really do hope they keep in the fact that Joel and Tommy helped Abby, too! I think that just added to the whole story, so if they take it out, they take out some of that plot
I wonder about how Joel will be during the scene where he saves abby.
He’ll be like 60 in the show at the time? Would he even still be out on patrol at that point? I know he can take care of himself, but after that convo with Tommy where he admitted he couldn’t fight the way he used to, it makes me wonder if it’ll be emphasized how old and weak he is
I feel like this ask kinda adds to the last one :) but I agree! I wonder how they're gonna cover that. again, I feel they need to include that cause if they take it out, it'll change the story a bit. not a detrimental amount, but it'll still change it
he will! I find it so interesting that they made him older in the show. why did they do it? ooo I wonder, too! I want to say he would be, but honestly? would he? or would he just be in Jackson whittling away on his wood projects? helping around with construction? there wouldn't fully be a point to him being on patrol, other than to help more and get out of the walls (and to make sure Ellie's doing okay on her patrols, but that'd raise a flag for her). but because of that conversation with Tommy about how he doesn't fight the way he used to and how he keeps failing her, I don't think he would go on patrol. at least not major ones? don't know how the patrolling system works, so I am using fic knowledge. but if there's a patrol that's only a few hours, I can see him doing that, but the over nights? or the long ones going to other towns? I don't think he'd do them. they kinda made it a point for Joel to complain about his old body, too, so I can see them continuing that
That whole ‘violent heart’ thing pissed me off so much. Was it even in the game?
I remember listening to the official podcast after that episode aired and it made me so mad.
They toned down on the violence for season 1, so it seems they’re looking for ways to explain why Ellie is so violent in the future seasons, and it irritates me.
They can just easily pin it on the post-apocalyptic world and Ellie’s grief, but for some reason they had to say her assaulter was right?? Ugh it’s just so gross
it pisses me off so much. I don't think it's in the game? they just added that to make him Worse.
I listened to the podcast afterwards, but that one specifically made me mad, too. there's just so many things to this. I think it's the fact they were able to get into David's head? so the whole podcast for the episode just feels like an extension of it, if that makes sense?
I agree! and also never thought of that being why they toned down the violence. I hate it. they don't really need to explain why Ellie is so violent in the next seasons. you don't need to do that! her father figure was brutally murdered right in front of her! and in this post-apocalyptic world, what else is she meant to do? I think violence has a very different meaning in this setting cause you have to be violent sometimes. we can clearly see that Ellie doesn't want to be violent - Bethany started that fight. yes, Ellie turned it physical, but Bethany started that. with Riley, she did what she had to and we're leaving it at that. with Bryan, it was between him and Joel. she doesn't know Bryan, and, obviously, he's a threat. if she didn't shoot him, Joel could've been seriously injured. but even with her shooting him, it wasn't to kill. it was in his back, he maybe could've survived that. with David, she was completely in the right. he was a complete and utter threat to everything about her, she did what she needed. but with all of this, not all of them were that violent. like, only one of these things was deadly. she doesn't have a violent heart and I hate hate hate that they're trying to say that she does, in order to set up the next seasons. what she did and what she ends up doing isn't because she has a violent heart. it's because she's trying to avenge her father figure, but you can clearly see the effects it's having on her. if she did have a violent heart, she wouldn't be taken aback like she is
exactly! trying to say her assaulter was right??? so fucking disgusting and why would they even say that?? she grew up in a post-apocalyptic world, but she's still affected by what she's done. that isn't a violent heart.
I wonder if all of Dina's questions on day 1 were her trying to figure out how Ellie would handle her pregnancy. like asking her "what if Leah's gone by the time we get there" or telling her how glad she is to have Ellie and how she would've gone with her, no matter what. I feel like she was trying to gauge how she'd react and tell her that she's grateful for Ellie
wait oh my god
what if Ellie stops liking space because of the golfing 😭😭😭 she stopped liking Halloween because of what happened with Riley, so it could be a very real possibility 😭
GOD she'd have nothing then 😭 she can't play the guitar anymore and if she stops enjoying space because the memories are too painful? everything would hurt 😭
wait oh my god
what if Ellie stops liking space because of the golfing 😭😭😭 she stopped liking Halloween because of what happened with Riley, so it could be a very real possibility 😭
this one isn't that important? detrimental? ouchie? as the others, but uh, did Jesse ever find out that Ellie was immune? if Ellie had just told Dina the day of the golfing, then Jesse never found out
wait omg Ellie never came out to Joel. like, yeah, he knew, he put two and two together, but there was never an official coming out for them :(
how did Ellie know where Abby was? I've seen people say that she tortured it out of Nora and that you can see blood on the map, proving that point, but I do not have the game, and none of the gameplays really show the map after that, so is that true? did she honestly torture it out of her? cause I assumed after that third blow, Nora was dead, so I've been really curious how Ellie found out Abby's location
why is it whenever a character talks about something they should do when it's all over, they die?
once again thinking about Tommy's reversal on letting Abby live :/
he walked in on Ellie having a panic attack after killing Mel. he knows how hard this whole revenge trip is on her, and yet.
and yet, once she has a family and is doing her best to keep her head above water, you send her out again? I know she was gonna go anyway, but maybe it would've been longer, and maybe she would've been able to realize it wouldn't help sooner.
in menace news, I think we are starting to understand Abby and maybe even liking her
Y’all think Jackson therapist Catherine O’Hara would take my insurance or no
