If bigots really were "naturally superior", then they wouldn't have to oppress anyone.

It's a shame that their beliefs -- that, "only those who are 'superior' should be able to live and thrive" -- drive them to then have to try to be in a superior position at all times….in order to stroke their own egos, and to soothe the deep insecurities that they themselves have made insurmountable and untenable, by endlessly pursuing vectors of pointless domination in the hopes that they can convince everyone to let them hoard the plentiful resources which they refuse to peacefully share.

The world would be so much better if everyone was allowed to just live, and be who they are, and be allowed to be comfortable with each other; without breaking their bodies and minds and spirits to "earn" the birthright of existence and thriving which the Earth simply offers us for free.

The first verse that stopped me in my tracks when I was rereading the Bible as an exchristian was Romans 7 verse 18. "For I know nothing good dwells in me."

I read that verse and I grabbed a pen and I underlined it and wrote in the margin, "For I know that good dwells in me."

It felt so powerful, to finally speak back after hearing these messages so passively before. And I was able to see the seeds of my harmful core beliefs in these verses: my learned helplessness, my low self esteem, my depression, and my fear. And I just kept going, underlining and rewriting verses that I thought were harmful. And those verses and the notes in the margin of my childhood bible eventually became this account.

I’ve been running this blog since 2020 and it’s been a wonderful experience, connecting with other people who are deconstructing or deconverting from Christianity, sharing our joy and our grief, trading tips on dealing with evangelizers, and recommending authors and other creators who are doing great things in this space.

I try to write what would have been helpful to me early on in my deconstruction. I know how difficult it is retrain our brains to stop reinforcing painful patterns. Because letting go of harmful Christian behaviors is in some ways harder than letting go of the beliefs themselves.

Throughout human history there was an element of reciprocity that reliably happened between Earth and humanity.

Human and animal waste, food scraps, fallen leaves, garden trimmings, and other organic components; were almost guaranteed to be returned to the soil, to be broken back down into fresh soil...either via composting, or via burying the organic waste.

Substantial things made of metal or wood (or more recently, plastic) often got taken to the "junkyard".... and it wasn't uncommon back then for people to take a trip and purposely go browsing there: in order to find and repair, or else, break down old items into component parts, for reuse elsewhere.

Now?

EVERYTHING is landfill.

Everything just gets thrown all together into a garbage dump or a landfill... and I don't think that it is a coincidence that Earth is suddenly experiencing a problem with running out of topsoil in which to grow crops.

This has been compounded by the fact that the corporations throw away literal hundreds of tons of perfectly good food (organic matter that should at LEAST be returned to the soil to replenish the earth instead).

They do this because it then makes it possible to raise prices on their remaining supply of produce, according to their bizarre rules concerning supply and demand...

Is it any wonder that topsoil is disappearing, given these capitalistic changes, where now there is an artificially-increased rate of overextraction of resources from nature, coupled with a drastic decrease of sustained reciprocation?

The number on the weight scale is not a reliable indicator of one's health.
