idk if youre still into scp but a post of yours said to ask you about Alagadda so...ima do that. the only things pertaining to The Hanged King and Alagadda I've read so far are SCP-2264 and SCP-701, so just like the basic stuff, so im kind of overwhelmed by the amount of lore they apparently have. Why is The Hanged King so feared? I thought he can only pop up if you perform his play??? What are your personal favorite articles about Alagadda/The Hanged King?

I am! And I am always open to talk about Alagadda, it’s really fun (to me).

First off, it’s a bit of a misconception that the Hanged King himself shows up during the performance of the play. It’s actually the ambassador who does so. Throughout works focusing on the realm, it’s made abundantly clear that said Ambassador is a hateful, destructive entity that even residents fear. It’s able to compel people to kill and hurt themselves, all for its amusement. In another SCP, the Ambassador arrives only to murder runaway Alagaddans who tried to integrate into the regular world as Venetian themed rock performers. There’s a big theme throughout Alagaddan works that seem to emphasize how natives are all prisoners, caught in a pitcher plant realm and unable to thrive outside of the whims of their superiors.

When it comes to the Hanged King himself, a lot of the unease people tend to have is how disturbing the visuals are regarding him. The name itself is disturbing, and the imagery of a king of a paradise being a ‘god-shaped hole’ that forces you to reconcile with your own lack of importance is. Well, it’s not fun to think about. As for why the Hanged King is forever forced to suffer, it depends on what SCP or article you read. A lot of the time, it’s viewed as a sort of curse. One myth on the site claims the blood of all Alagaddans was drained in order to bring the king back to life, but he accidentally squandered it. In another piece, it’s explicitly said that the Ambassador is not the Hanged King’s… well, ambassador, but more so his jailor and tormentor. This is an interpretation by a character whose mind is breaking by then though, so who knows if he’s right.

As for my personal favorites? I enjoy SCP-2264 of course, but also A Wandsman in the Court of the Hanged King, SCP-2732, and SCP-6624 (content warnings aside) because it develops another Lord that people don’t really think about.

All in all, I really love Alagadda because it’s fundamentally a world that captivates me and that I use a lot in my personal SCP fiction.

Okay, I saw this on my dash just now, and I have immediately fallen in love with Clo.

I love how much more complex her 963 is, and how the host lasts a lot longer, plus the crystalline decay at the end is great.

What's her personality like? I'm really curious!

WAAAAAAAAAAAA TYSM ;O; THEY'RE SO SPECIAL TO ME AND IM SO GLAD YOU LIKE THEM Clo's personality is uh, basically a mishmash of various bright characterizations i enjoyed. I think she carries herself with an air of silliness and is as casual as she can get away with, but she can be cutthroat and downright terrifying when she wants to be. She's sardonic and kind of bitchy, she's drunk the Foundation Kool-aid so hard, and doesn't have that much respect for uh, human life (or for her own physical well-being but i think that goes without saying for amulet holders) because of how many degrees of depersonalization she's under to cope with The Horrors she experiences as a site director and The Horrors that are just innate to her continued existence with 963. They come off as kind of cold and egotistical to people who don't know them, which is not a totally inaccurate assessment, but also if someone gains their trust they'll go through hell or high water for them. I think uh they're really affectionate with and protective of their friends (partly because they're very aware of how easily they could be ripped away from them), they are somehow equally terrified of how profoundly they've come to care about certain people, and terrified of ever losing that ability to care, you know? She's as loyal as a freaking dog, which is as much a vice as it is a virtue at times. They are a person who has never let anything go without leaving claw marks on it. Also she has INSANE guilt complexes and unchecked abandonment issues and a bunch of other shit going on because i swear the girlie's mental state is being held together by dirty sticky tape and spite BUT I'LL GET INTO THAT ANOTHER TIME BECAUSE I'VE GONE ON LONG ENOUGH SO UH i really hope this all made sense lol

TLDR of how i think it would go is basically cog is, well, very cog about the situation, clover is freaking out the entire time and calls cog an idiot in the tone that one does when theyre concerned for someone's safety but being kind of a bitch about it, and cloves tries to be Normal about it after they're separated but mayyybe cries a little (read: a lot) after she sees the scar

So, I'm just gonna throw this by you to see what you think.

I'm running a few SCP RP blogs, and I've got a Bright Rewrite.

(Now, keep in mind that no-one actually knows this is what's happening, but bare with me.)

So, functionally, 963 ended up around the neck of an immortal. And when I say immortal, I mean a true immortal. Can't die, can't age, can't be dismembered, immune to psychic attacks and memetics, stuff like that.

So, how I handled it is that 963 contained someone already, but it failed to take over the immortal. It still tried, but all it succeeded in doing was, functionally, making the immortal hallucinate the occupant as if they were standing nearby.

(Think like Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, but if they were just...stuck like that forever.)

Thoughts?

OHHHH i think this is pretty interesting! i think having two immortals stuck together could create a pretty interesting dynamic, particularly if one is significantly older than the other and/or they have differing perspectives on their immortal situation. It's like a buddy comedy except. with more fridge horror lol

(I have finally gained enough confidence to submit an ask I’ve been wanting to say this since you first posted about clover) I think Clover being able to change SCP 963 into other types of jewelry, is really cool and creative! I love it!!!!!!!!!
