Btw if u want an awesome, sorta modern Frankenstein university au fic I HIGHLYYYY recommend Song Of Myself on AO3!!! It's a slowww burn and it's like 40 chapters long BUT IT'S AWESOMEEE, instead of Adam, Creech is Jascha because this fic plays into the trope of the creature having memories from the body parts of the people he's made from BUTTT i think it's awesome cuz there's only one person (aside from a few adjustments) that's used to create Jascha. No spoilers, but basically the og person's legs were destroyed, and because Jascha has the person's memories, he has phantom pains, needs to get used to having a mostly different body, etc.
It's a pretty cool take imo, and each chapter is told through Victor, Henry, and Jascha's POVs in that order!! There's an interesting take on Victor, giving him a/a few types of mood disorders. Idr if they were specified BUT YEAHHH😋 I love this fic with all my heart and I need more people to know abt it lmaooo

I’ve got a fic idea for Frankenstein. Basically, the creature flees the Frankenstein’s country house after getting rid of William and roams around the forest for a bit; after which they encounter a strange and outputtingly big manor in the middle of it. The house, while still not in a great condition, is quite conveniently located near the town, and has a small vegetable plot and chickens squawking around. Soon enough, however, the creature finds out the house isn’t empty. The house’s occupant, a jewelry smith named Mary Ophelia Fingal comes out the door and after a good chat, she invites the creature to stay a few days, believing they’re a traveler. The days, however, turn into months; he creature makes themself at home while trying to make up for their presence by helping Molly (Mary Ophelia’s nickname) with the housework. Molly gets quite comfortable around the creature as well, since she admits to be a recluse, only coming out to the shops and to her clients. She tells her story as well: born in Ireland, Mary had to endure a period of economic hardship in her younger years and set off to the continent hoping to earn some money working as a jewelry maker. Things turned awry when, months after arriving in Germany and setting up her shop, Molly was ran over by a stagecoach and had to get her right leg amputated. She still simmers in the hate and resentment she feels towards doctors, surgeons and scientists in general. Both women (spoiler, tee hee :]) feel a connection between them, both being wronged by a surgeon who left them to their own devices.

Adam & Marigold, similar in species, one created through science the other via ritual!
Marigold has two last names, “Cervidae” from his bio parent and “Crowva” from his adopted dad.
This version of “Adam” is named Rose, a creation of Oak Jayvid as a “proof of concept” for his “partner” to “create life.” Adam here was basically a first test, and Oak’s “partner” didn’t like how stitched together he looked.
Oak tried to create the perfect man, neglecting his niece and wife to create life. Adam was kept in the basement until his niece Thistle found him and they formed a friendship. Thistle teaching him how to speak and write and Oak letting him out so they can watch each other. Adam as a bodyguard and caretaker, and Thistle as a teacher and companion.
Convo between Thistle and Oak:
“So how are… you doing”
“Good”
“And Hyacinth?”
“…”
“And Hyacinth? Sigh… Haven’t you been watching her? You know? Girl code-or sisterhood?”
“She’s dead uncle Oak, she’s been dead for 3 months now?! Haven’t you noticed, or have you been to busy working on your ‘perfection project?”

Anyway that just came to me working out the dynamic and stuff. Thistle becomes betrothed to Marigold and Adam is really supportive for them.

Sticking with the Frankenstein theme in my recent work, I finished a portrait of Victor's little experiment!
Design Notes: Victor's Portrait (I mention it here a couple times.)
A lot of my decisions for this were based on my previous portrait, so I could have as much contrast between the two as possible.
He's a quite purple, but this was to insure that he had a clearly cooler skin tone than the one I used prior. I also just like coloring purple skin. (:
The darker marks are supposed to look like muscle under the skin, though not every muscle is represented.
Victor's portrait has him facing in the opposite direction of this one, and his eyes are a cool green that contrasts against the warm skin. Here, the warm eyes contrast cold skin.
There's no halo this time. I considered adding a broken, sliver one, but I like the implied power imbalance between the characters.

I love how over 90% of the Frankenstein Fandom decided to name Frankenstein's Monster "Adam Frankenstein" because he refferred to himself as the "Adam of your labours" at one point. Let's keep it that way.
In the same vein, there's also some kind of poetic justice in the fact that Frankenstein is Victor's last name, yet people who haven't read the book believe that this is in fact the monster's name.
Basically: This guy neglected his own son and treated it like a monstrosity from the beginning, so not only that he will be killed by his own creation, but the world will remember his name as his son's instead.

First of all his name is Adam second of all he IS a Frankenstein! His piece of shit deadbeat dad is Victor BITCHASS Frankenstein and thus that is Adam’s last name.
Third of all I love him so much he is my baby how dare you disrespect him by calling him a monster he did nothing wrong ever.
at the end of the day i think what this post is missing is an understanding that situations are not black or white. just because victor isn't bad doesn't mean he's good.

OP has made the leap that, because victor isn't inherently bad, he is inherently good/right. then this is taken a step further by saying that because victor is good, adam must be bad. this point is justified through a series of entirely misconstrued and twisted retellings of the events in the book.

they are both just guys -- humans living their lives and being flawed and hurting people.
I'm so protective of Victor Frankenstein, because everyone is like "the creature is actually completely right and he should have just made a second creature and it would be fine" or "he shouldn't have abandoned his creation" and like, come on.
First of all, he didn't abandoned the creature. He basically spent 9 months obsessing of creating this thing because (a) his mother died and he developed a morbid fascination with death to cope and (b) his father, instead of explaining why alchemy was a bad idea, just dismissed his interest out of hand. But the thing was that it wasn't //actually// supposed to work. And he also isn't eating or sleeping and he is mentally Not Well. But then the creature opens it's eyes and it's terrifying because even though it should be beautiful, being made of beautiful parts, it is still made of fucking corpses.
So, Victor passes the fuck out and wakes up after the creature has escaped. And then he's like, wtf was that?? Am I going insane?? He doesn't go looking for the creature because he thinks he made it up in his head. I think his friend was also like, "hey, dude, I think you just have a fever."
And then he finds out that his 6yo brother has been MURDERED and his childhood friend is accused of having killed the child, so he goes home. He can't even say, "hey, I think I made a monster that did this" because no one will believe him. And this creature shows up and tells him that it killed his brother simply because it hated Victor. It killed a young child because it wanted to hurt Victor. Now it wants Victor to make a second creature like the first.
And, for the record, the creature has been having a hard time because its a giant walking corpse and people aren't giving it a chance to prove that it can read Shakespeare. Here's the thing. The creature is smart. It reads classic literature. It speaks well. It is also cunning. After snapping William's neck, it frames Justine by slipping William's gold locket in her apron pocket.
Victor takes responsibility for this. He is aware at this point that he has fucked around and found out. He feels guilty about his little brother's death, and the execution of his friend. He agrees to create a second creature out of fear, but then decides that he will accept his fate and let the creature kill him because he is afraid that, given how terribly the first creature turned out, he will be endangering more people. What he didn't count on was that the creature would not actually kill him (he is its only shot at getting a companion, after all) and would instead kill his best friend and his wife.
The creature is lonely, but it's first response to rejection was not to seek its creator and ask for a companion. Its response was to murder people weaker than it, then seek out a companion from Victor through threats of violence. Why would he want to help it at that point? Why would he trust it?
the reason I was gone for so long was bc I got sucked into my new hyperfixation. Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. I read the book and fell in love. I watched the musical too.
