Stuff I’ve found during my ~adventures~ in SimPE
I’ve been working since last year on defaulting all of EA’s ep/sp food. I’m improving textures etc (+ making them all vegan >:-D) and through this I’ve found some things I feel the need to share:
1. one of EA’s “foodplatterappetizer” has dog poo in it:

like? what even is that
2. EA accidentally wrote “ingrediants” instead of “ingredients” on the mac n cheese texture:

3. when working on my mail delivery default (which I’m hopefully going to share soon) I noticed that there’s English on one of the letters:

“certified mail“
4. this is legit EA’s onion texture:

I mean I knew it was bad, but that’s just plain sad..
5. there’s a texture for a single pea:

in what situation is this even being used?? I have so many questions
6. it seems EA originally planned on adding some sort of neighborhood “walking sim”:

lifo file:

7. WHAT EVEN IS THIS:

HELP.
8. huh:

???
9. what is this and why do I feel like I’ve seen it before:

10. and oh, nearly forgot, mby I’m late to the party but the bowls when sims are making cereals are completely white:

and taking the texture from the milk cartoon, like this:

idk why I found this so funny. I mean, EA know how to repository stuff, why didn’t they just keep the bowls as a separate group and then referenced them to their texture? Why choose to do it this way?? So that’s what I did bc it bothered me. Unfortunately I won’t put it up for download just yet, it will be shared when I’m done with defaulting all of EA’s food. I have more fixes to share..

[insert surpised pikachu face here]
I released a dollhouse default replacement last year, and I think it’s awful haha so I’ve been planning on re-doing it for a while. Anyway, EA’s dollhouse texture looks like this:

and this^ is the highest quality (aka the lifo file). However, I stumbled upon these when I looked around in SimPE:

it seems EA originally had plans on making the dollhouse's objects/walls etc have its own texture file. All of them have lifo files and they are in surprisingly high quality. Here are some of them:

Look at the RUG. Ahhh the quality! It’s so nice and sharp, compared to what EA decided to go with, yikes. So guess what! I’m planning on extracting, re-mapping etc to try and re-create EA’s original idea. I mean, the textures are already there, so why not actually use them! :-D
~Adventures~ in SimPE - pt 2
(part 1 is here!)
bc I basically live in SimPE by now haha
11. a beige version of the "go here"... interaction?

12. "testfile-redtank"

great job EA, it looks absolutely amazing.
13. some unused tv frames:

14. more babies (; ಠㅂಠ)

15. an unused keyboard texture?

16. EA actually added chopsticks back in basegame but they went unused:

the audacity to use an image size of 1024x1024 for CHOPSTICKS
17. then in bon voyage, they decided past is past and added these ugly blobs instead:

(image snatched from here)
but do not fret! I'm defaulting the bon voyage chopsticks with the ones from basegame atm >:-)
also, they manage to forget the texture two times?! they made a new texture resource in bon voyage using the one from basegame (and decided 64x64 would be enough) but then they used NEITHER of two the textures?!?!

*sigh*

The hair color turn on/off icons look like this:

and I think I might have found another type of icons for said turn on/offs! I found it in the UI file from apartment life:

I wonder why they didn't finish the brown/black ones though? anyway, the style is the same as the fitness icon:

I get why EA went with mannequin icons instead, but I'm thinking of bringing back these faces bc I quite like them! I will give them different skin colors instead though :-D

Look what I found! Turns out sims were originally able to get a glass of water from the fridge? I assume they moved that interaction to the sink (a very wise choice haha) but I find it funny they "left" (?) the interaction in the files, and just wrote "you shouldn't see this in game" instead of removing it

I know absolutely shit about coding so maybe they did it this way because it's easier and faster than removing it?
does anyone know if "wood-oak_txtr" is used by anything else but the wooden spoon in cooking? because if not..... the audacity of maxis to once again give an utensil a ridiculously big texture size is beyond me
